Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway

This review just contains the sports book and none of the other casino features. We went to go watch one of the Chiefs games and the newly designed sports book. There were plenty of tvs available to watch the game. I felt there wasn't that much seating especially the seats that have the nice theatre recliners. If you are going to watch an event I recommend getting there at least an hour early. Otherwise you will be standing. They do let you bring food at the other restaurants in the casino. If you do order from the server they only accept cash otherwise you can also order through the bar.

This is a fun place to spend a Friday night. We went to dinner first and then did a little gambling. It was a great time and something different for us to do. I recommend!!

Based on the last visit I've avoided Hollywood. I went back for a visit, July 2024. Had relatives in town who had the itch. I was glad to see almost all of the machines/tables up and running. 95%+ I'd say. I really want this casino to succeed. It's the closest to my location. We did not dine during our visit so I can't comment on the cuisine. I don't understand why PENN refuses to build the hotel they promised and would rather pay the 1% annual fine to the state. Baffling. Night 2 we went to a competitor by worlds of fun (much longer drive 3X) and I was quickly reminded how much work Hollywood KS has to do to compete. Maybe after Buc-ees and Margaritaville open near by, they will finally invest in the (now old) property.

Hollywood Casino Turn 2 - we waited to be seated luckily two spots opened at the bar. Saturday was busy I guess. We did not know the names of the male female bartenders. The guy totally ignored us talking to everyone else. The gal finally saw us gave us a menu 15 minutes later we got our order Texas Style nachos to split. 30 minutes later we had our nachos and drinks. Then waited to pay! Not a good experience! The nachos were ok just seemed to be missing that Texas part...maybe onion or chunky salsa.

Pretty disappointing visit overall, it seemed like the ventilation system wasn't working well, It was so smoky everywhere, including people with cigars and black and milds. After a quick walk around, we noticed that at least 25 to 40% of the machines weren't even in service last night, and there was not a waitress in sight. There was a lack of any of the new hot slot machines. We saw maybe eight buffalo games, and there was only two of the hot stuff. There were so many antiquated machines, they must have come on sale when the place was purchased. We spend a lot of time in Vegas, and we've been to Reno a few times and I've never seen anything this bad , even at the lower level casinos.I don't expect a waitress to be completely on top of me when I'm playing slots, but we spent a good amount of money, only to have no greeting from anybody who worked there, let alone anybody to offer us a drink. For reference, we were there for over an hour. As this is located so close to home, we had high hopes for this casino, but unfortunately we'll be traveling back over to the Missouri side.

Beware: when machines eat your money, you will be forced to wait around while they troubleshoot (took 40 mins for us) and won't be offered any food/beverages/apologies. The casino was fun until that point, but they really need to train the staff to handle machine malfunctions better--it seems like this will be common too because the e-cards can stay linked to the machines even minutes after being taken out.

WOW! I spent a very fun afternoon at this casino and even learned to play craps. My mother will be so proud. I attended a Yelp Elite event at Hollywood Casino and it was THE BEST!The food at this casino does not disappoint. The chef did an outstanding job at creating unique, fun mini-plates for all the guests. The service was top notch, as well. My water glass was constantly being refreshed and the servers attended to every detail. They were attentive without being cloying. I hate the servers who circle around you like vultures. These servers just paid attention and were no pressure.After the meal, we were treated to our own class in craps. Very interesting game and there are definitely different nuances to this age-old table game. The instructor who taught us was marvelous. She knew the game inside-out and backwards-forward. She gave us instruction in an easy to understand way and she answered every question. She was respectful and patient with the novices. I think her name was Lisa and she was great.Everything about this casino was inviting. People were nice, the atmosphere was welcoming. The casino was clean and pleasantly decorated. There was no cigarette smoke on, either. I believe there was a smoking section but I only knew that because of the signs. There is plenty of parking at this casino, too. This place was very busy the day of the event but there was still parking available. I was surprised at how accessible the facilities were at Hollywood Casino.I am not a big gambler but I do enjoy the occasional slot machine game. The next time the urge hits, I am heading to Hollywood Casino for sure!

The Hollywood casino takes you back in time to the height of the gambling and bootlegger era through their framed photos of wealthy elite and eccentric decor. While at the casino, the chef treated us to two sample platters from their two onsite restaurants: "Turn 2" and "Final Cut". Turn 2 is conveniently located on the second turn of the speedway and overlooks the race track for a phenomenal view. They cater a more "bar" style menu. The fire house burger had the perfect amount of 'kick' that you would want in a spicy burger, it was cooked wonderfully and had the best burst of flavor. The bbq salmon had crispy edges that flaked off onto your fork, and the fish melted in your mouth. The last sample from Turn 2 were the wings. Wings are hard to mess up, but also hard to perfect. These were just crispy enough to make you want seconds, and the flavor was a honey bbq.The Final Cut restaurant is their higher-end food. The prime ribeye was cooked nothing short of amazing. I ordered mine medium and it truly could not have been better. The shrimp cocktail was made with hearty shrimp. But the king of the crop was the Alaska king crab cake. This crab cake was exquisite, it had thick pieces of crab buried throughout and was complimented with a wonderful sauce and cucumbers. The chef did a phenomenal job curating his menu and takes pride in what the kitchen presents to its customers.After eating, we were treated to lessons of black jack and craps at the casino tables. The workers are a huge help to new beginners and are more than willing to explain rules or walk you through how to play. The actual appearance of the casino is slightly run-down. Some of the slot machines looked run-down and I had difficulty getting my player card to work at the kiosks that they have strategically placed around the venue.

I've been here a few times. the thing that turns me off is the wall of cigarette smoke I have to walk through in order to get in. It hits you in the face as soon as you open the doors. It would be nice to see them improve their ventilation systems. I've been to other casinos so I know it can be done. I get that people like to smoke and gamble but this should really be improved upon. I have also eaten here and the food is great. It's cool that if you go upstairs you can eat and look out over the track. The location is great. They really have a fantastic chef and kitchen staff.

All of my experiences at this casino have been top tier. I would recommend coming here to anyone interested!
