This thrift store is well organized, restocked regularly has daily sales. Prices are overall less than Saver's. Clothing is 50% off every Wednesday! Some items like chiefs wear may not be included in the sale. The volunteers and paid staff are friendly and helpful. They have three locations. Two are right next to each other and one is in Platte City.

I went here out of curiosity today. Unfortunately, like many thrift store trips, I didn't find anything I wanted to buy. The store was requiring people wear face masks to enter. I did not have one but the store was selling them for a dollar. The nice man (the employee who gave me a five star experience, not a two star) out front let me take one and said I could pay for it when I checked out.I went through the store which is very well organized and looks great. I even had a nice little chat with another employee who redirected me where the video games were. As I said before, nothing caught my eye, so I decided to "check out" and pay for my mask. This is where the trouble began...I get to the register and this older woman asks of I'm ready to check out. I say "I didn't find anything, but I'd like to pay for my mask though." She gave me a snarky look and sneered "oh we don't like you didn't find anything. We really don't like that." She slowly meandered entering the credit card info and slowly operated the cash register to prolong how long she could chastise me. I was in such shock at how badly she could talk to someone. Paying customer or not I was trying to be polite and she acted like a regular Karen taking advantage of how long she could scold me. My mind went numb and I can't recall everything she said but she just kept going. This story climaxes when she asked if I wanted a receipt. I figured I would say "yes" so I could show it to the man standing outside who trusted me to pay for the mask he was nice enough to give me. When I said I wanted a receipt she literally laughed and made some remark on if I wanted to keep a "COVID souvenir." When I said it was to show the employee outside I had paid for the mask she said "uh huh, sure. Have a good one" in a very dismissive tone. This was my first time coming to this thrift store and I don't know if I want to go back. I tried to be trustworthy and polite and the cashier just scoffed at me for as long as she could manage. The two employees who helped me out by either redirecting me or trusting I would pay for the mask inside were fantastic people. That said this woman's attitude was so toxic I don't think I can go back and not be reminded of the shock and disappointment I felt. Take her out if the equation and this place is five stars, no doubt.

This is a huge thrift shop. We always find something good here. I got a brand new pretty shower curtain, a bunch of tops that were nearly new... some cool toys that even still had the tags on them.Their dressing rooms are really convenient and the keep the clothing (and other stuff) very organized. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a great thrift shop.

Hillcrest Thrift Shop is what all thrift stores should aspire to be!I literally chanced upon this place. I was on the way to the airport to fly back to Denver and drove through a town called Parkville. I saw a half closed strip mall and drove into the parking lot just looking around - sometimes places like this have used bookstores. As I went around the back of the building in the distance I saw this place and since I had sometime to kill decided to check it out. This place is neat and organized and they even used the stock to decorate the place. WOW! Off to the right side were seperate rooms with a theme for each, shoes, books, etc. In the back corner was the "General Store" with kitchen items i.e. dishes, decorations, and small appliances. Clothes were in the center of the shop and furniture to the left.Around the back of the building on the first level was the "basement bargains". When I walked in down there it was huge, this level included sports equipment and attire, electronics, home furnishings, more furniture in addition to the basement bargain room (in which everything was $1).I have never used the word "cute" or "quaint" to describe a thrift store but they are the perfect descriptive words. Hillcrest Thrift Store in not a boutique or vintage store. It is a thrift store run by volunteers for an organization called Hillcrest Transitional Housing which benefits local homeless and people in need. You can tell that the people that run this place are not just trying to get used stuff out the door and are really proud of the work they are doing.

I love this thrift store. It's so much fun to go in here and just browse. I'll almost always find something great on the clothing racks (name brand clothes in good shape) for me and my children every time I visit. Sure there is a lot of clothing from the 90's, but I've found Gymboree, Nike, Brooks Brothers, White House/Black Market, and other name brands in perfect condition. I have also found toys, games, holiday items and other random stuff. The store is reasonably priced and runs good sales; several times I dropped in and was pleasantly surprised that everything was 50% off that day. This is truly a thrift store where all proceeds go to helping the homeless, so I am glad to shop and donate knowing the proceeds help the community. Decent dressing rooms, friendly cashiers (although sometimes they seem unaware of the specials - probably because there are several specials that seem to change each day).

A great thrift shop chain in Kansas City!I've visited each Hillcrest shop and they each have a huge selection, great prices, regular sales, and the best furniture selection I've seen out of any thrift store in Kansas City! I bought 4 all wood kitchen table chairs with upholstered seats for $8 each. They were on sale that day 1/2 price. But I have gotten so many compliments on those chairs from friends-much more than my high priced name brand new furniture I have in my home! Best Buy ever!

I love this thrift store! They are very friendly and you can tell that the volunteers who work there are truly volunteering because they love to help people. Yes, the clothing tends to be dated, and mostly for older folks, but I've found some real gems while searching the racks. They have little boutique style rooms for certain items. One of my favorite is the dressy clothes room. If you are looking for a "little black dress" for any occasion, they keep them all one one rack. Downstairs is their basement bargains. They often do a buy one get one free sale on TV's and other electronics. I love browsing this store! Great retail therapy!OH.... the store is CLEAN!Limited parking at the Parkville location, but it always works out!

I'm not from Missouri so it was the first time at this thrift shop. Shopping here was a very positive experience and I liked the selection and the prices. It's also obvious they provide such a great service for their community. Hillcrest is a great place, 5 stars!

For you lifelong Northlanders who aren't sure where this is...it's the location that was formerly Woody's Nightclub. First off, this isn't, by far, the cheapest thrift store in town. The pricing on items seems very hit and miss. This is a place that you want to visit often to check back on that item you saw that you liked, was a bit overpriced, in hopes they marked it down. And the thing is, they do. I was looking for a couch off and on and they had one I liked very well, it was in excellent shape and firm, nice and clean, but the price tag was a bit steep for me. I tend to check this place out once a week or so, and lo and behold on my 3rd visit back my couch was only $45. I pounced, and am glad I did. It serves me well. The best way to describe this place is, the upstairs looks like a well done, nicely decorated and maintained thrift business...and the downstairs (which you can reach by stairway from upstairs or by driving to the back of the building, which I tend to do since I don't shop the upstairs part as often) is a basement. Think..well, YOUR basement. You know...where you stick all the things you were meaning to use someday (snow shoes, that vintage 1970's microwave, books on knitting and crocheting...) or, for those of you who don't have a basement or don't hoard things ( and if you are thrift store shopping, and don't think you hoard things, well, you're probably in denial) its like the neighbors garage sale. Great stuff to be found down here, if you look. A few things I want to point out: paperback books are 3 for $1., which has created in me a new "thrift store book hunting" addiction. Hardbacks are $1 a piece. CD's are $1, cassettes 50 cents...they have a growing selection of vinyl, too. Upstairs...there is a room full of books, but downstairs you will find some hidden away, too. And flatware is a nickel a piece. Nowhere else on the planet that I am aware of can you buy forks, knives, and spoons 20 for a dollar. Again, I want to stress the pricing is hit and miss on the more unique items. The staff is all volunteers, and so you have to hope the item that catches your eye wasn't priced by that guy who used to sell stuff from garage sales on EBAY, or a former Beanie Baby collector who thinks EVERYTHING is collectible or vintage. It happens, you will see it from time to time...but there are gems here to be had if you are willing to do some digging.
