Great location! Service with a smile. Drinks were cold and affordable ;) the only food they had was pizza. Don't know that Guy ever visited but maybe he will! If you are looking for a hole in the wall friendly bar, this is it!

Dive bar in a neighborhood. Stopped by on our cross country trip after sight seeing at the Pony Express museum and navigation led us here.Walked in and typical new comer style it felt like the music came to a screeching halt. Bellied up to the bar and was met a friendly bartender with a nice "How y'all doing" Beers in a can kinda of place but they were cold.Definitely a locals hangout but everyone seemed friendly. Looks can be deceiving from outside but hey cold beer is cold beer.Definitely worth a stop for a beer.

Typical dive bar, special on Tuesday and Friday. No food except for frozen pizza from dollar general. Some chips not much else. Day bartender is on top of things , regular's rule here.

Hickory Tavern is an old bar. No one present during our visit could confirm the age, but they did speak of at least 3 generations of past owners who each ran the bar for around 30 years or so. My own research has uncovered anecdotal evidence for it possibly being as much as 130 to 140 years old.At one point in the past the bar was U-shaped and sat in the middle of the room. Now it is a linear bar along the north wall.Everything here is old-school. Pool is still only 50 cents to play -- the bar's owner refuses to work with arcade supply companies and their contracts, he wants to do things his own way. In fact, it's so old-school here that the jukebox was only recently upgraded to a CD Jukebox, it had been a vinyl record jukebox until just a few years ago.

Disgusting place. Bartender is rude. I know I saw under age kids in there. But they didn't care. I didn't stay longer than I had to 10 minutes tops to find is my over priced warm can of beer. It was a while back I went. Probably 3 years or so. Good luck...
