Stop by here on the way back from a golf trip and wanted to try the iconic high boy cheeseburgers. I double cheeseburger was good and hot but pretty pricey for just a double cheeseburger. I can mark it off my list that I tried it, but not eager to come back.

This is my first time at this particular location. I usually go to the HiBoy over by Arrowhead. I will probably keep that tradition. This place is clean and smells great! The tots here were a little soggy. But the self-serve catsup was very good. I got a Double HiBoy. It seemed dry, like the meat had been on the grill too long. I went and got some mustard and added it between the patties. That seem to make it a little better. As expected, the bun was warm and delicious and the vegetables were fresh and crispy, but something was off. As a bonus, found a great car wash next door that's only 50 cents per minute! Butch's. Wow!

HiBoy is a family tradition. We usually go to the store on 24 Hwy and River. Today, I thought I'd surprise Mr. G. With a 1/4 HiBoy and Onion Rings. I have been craving Tenderloin sandwiches lately, so I got one of those for me. There is something about those HiBoy Onion Rings. They are the best Onion Rings and what we use to measure all Onion Rings. Did not disappoint.Of course, Mr. G. Loved the HiBoy, and I was very pleased with my tenderloin sandwich. It was just the right size. Crispy on the outside. The sauce was not too heavy, and the lettuce, tomato, and pickle did not overpower the tenderloin. I could taste the meat. The drive-thru worker was pleasant and professional, and it was worth the wait for fresh, delicious food.Although the 24 Hwy store is the family's favorite for nostalgia, this is my personal favorite.

Meh. That pretty much sums up my experience. I happened to be in the area and I've heard people say this is their favorite burger place so I decided to give it a try. The burger itself was average at best. The meat was pretty bland and dry. The overall burger was dry. The lettuce that was on it was soggy and old so I removed it. Maybe that's where the sauce went. The tots were good. It's hard to mess up tots. My favorite thing I got was the cherry mash cyclone. Now that I would return for. I'd skip everything else.

Even though I live very close to a Hi-Boy knock-off, I'm still willing to drive across town for the real deal occasionally. Today I ended up at their 291 and 23rd St location which is my least frequented of their 3 locations. It's currently drive-thru only due to staffing shortages. My Jr Double Hi-Boy is my go-to; 2 flat pressed patties stacked with melty cheese and the perfect amount of lettuce, onion, pickle, tomato and creamy sauce. The standard for all fast food burgers. There is a reason they have been open for 65+ years.

You may have to take a mortgage out on your house to afford the new prices. We were shocked. Onion rings and mushrooms were so soggy and steamed. We just picked at them. The $8 chicken sandwich was very good. The woman working the drive thru must have been having a bad day. Very gruff.

So because a new burger place opened in town, but I'm not willing to put up with long waits I decided to do a burger tour of local places. To keep it fair though I am just ordering a similar double burger at each stop on the tour. The choice here was really good. The onion rings were really good. I also got a fish sandwich and skipped eating the bun...it was nice and crispy and the toppings were fine, but it wasn't to my preference. To be fair, we come here on a regular basis. I previously tried the Italian steak which was well made, but not one of my preferences. I LOVE their pork tenderloins and that's my go to choice. Also you can't go wrong with their shakes....some of the best you'll get anywhere. The drive thru is usually busy at lunch... And they are currently not letting people dine in.

Stopped here for lunch today, and was not pleased with the food. It seems so they might've changed their vendors? I always loved their onion rings, but these did not taste the same. The breading was extra thick instead of being thin and crispy like it used to be. I did not order a hamburger which I used to love because I've been told by others that the hamburgers taste like the frozen quarter inch patties that are just then quickly grilled rather than the thin patties that they used to use. Instead, I got a tenderloin and it was only fair. The best thing about high boys now is probably their milkshakes. Not enough to make me want to go back to the one at this location. I know that they are often individually owned so I'm not going to complain about the other locations because maybe they are as good as they used to be. But this one isn't. the drive-through area is easily accessible in an out off of schedule and that's the best thing about the place.

I've been looking for my local burger place - you know, the one I can point to and say "I know a great spot for burgers!" Small joint - order only, but great atmosphere. I popped in on a weekday afternoon and ordered a double hiboy with fries and a shake. The service was fantastic, everyone working there was friendly and pleasant. The food came out fast enough. The fries were great, McDonald's style but better, fresh and just crispy enough. The shake was yummy, old school style, very thick, seems hand spun. The burger though? I wasn't impressed =(. I got mine with lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, and onions. The patties are very large in diameter, but super thin - so thin, it seems like they just flatten and spread out the patties to make it as wide as possible to seem more impressive - and in return, some moisture lost along the way. The burger was super dry, I added two packets of ketchup to try and remedy it. The taste seemed like it could be decent if it hadn't been flattened and dried to infinity. There are a lot of places that do burgers better - even if farther away. I'd give this place 2 stars but the fries and service warrant 3.

My favorite hamburger joint. Love the entire menu. My wife and I particularly like their cherry mash cyclone. Only place in town that seems to carry it.
