I have done two photography sessions with Rita: a five-hour branding session and another headshot session. Working with her went beyond my best expectations. I'm used to having to tell professionals I hire exactly what to do, but Rita had so many great ideas that she was the expert in charge, as it always ought to be! I am now spoiled by her excellent service.Her business branding session we did before the first shoot was incredibly valuable. I did not expect to get so many new ideas about how to advertise my business. This service set her apart in my search for a Kansas City area photographer and did not disappoint. She was also wonderful throughout both of the photoshoots. She thinks quickly and is great at keeping you smiling with humor, even at the end of a five-hour session. In addition, she goes the extra mile--she even helped me clean up and chop in the kitchen for the food photos!Best of all, the photographs all turned out wonderfully, and she got them to me promptly. Rita helped me to take my business to the next level! I'll consider using her even after I leave the Kansas City area. She gets my highest recommendation.

Rita completely saw my vision through when I wanted to do a Motherhood Photo Shoot on my farm. She finished my thoughts and knew how to create this golden whimsical feeling I get when I look at our pictures! RITA IS THE BEST energy to be around when you are feeling vulnerable in front of the camera and nothing ever felt artificial or forced.When I see these pictures it's the way I see my life with my son. I never thought someone could ever capture that, but SHE DID.Rita's has captured my timeline and our story over the years and it's one of the most cherished things I have!

I wish I could keep Rita as my best-kept secret, BUT KANSAS CITY NEEDS TO KNOW that Heirloom Photo Company is the absolute best. Rita photographed our wedding in 2014 and is now capturing our growing family. In Rita's photos, you can sense her love for her craft and for us as people. Her photos beautifully blend the serene moments in a wild house with a perfect touch of realism and character. We are so fortunate to know and love Rita.

A good review is better late than never, right?? My husband and I had our newborn's photos in February 2019 and a family session in October 2019 with Rita and we have nothing but amazing things to say! Rita is so easy to work with, punctual and her communication is amazing. We had our family photos taken at the Nelson Atkins and they turned out spectacular. We loved that we got digital copies of all of the edited photos and were able to print them and share them with family. We are so happy to have found Heirloom and we will definitely be using them for more sessions in the upcoming years!

Rita is Best photographer we ever used!!!! super fun and a joy to be around, so much fun the session went by in the blink of an eye, and the pictures turned out perfect (understatement) she doesn't use a whole lot of filters so the pictures turned out very natural.

Seriously, Rita is THE BEST. We had our engagement session yesterday and it was so much fun! Rita has always been quick to respond to our questions and was patient with us when we had to reschedule due to my work travel. She was super helpful when choosing locations and was totally down to photograph us with our cats (even though she is allergic)!!! We feel so comfortable in Rita's presence and even on a busy day at the Nelson I felt like we were in our own little bubble. Not only is Rita extremely talented, she is FUNNY and PERSONABLE! Shooting with her is as effortless as hanging out with your bestie. She captured our personality and love so well and I cannot be more thankful to have found her! Rita sent us sneak peaks THE SAME NIGHT! We couldn't believe the fast turn around and her genuine excitement about our session. You will not find a better photographer than Rita!

Throughout the year, that we have been using Heirloom to photograph our real estate and properties we have seen excellent results and a fantastic return on investment. Rita has an eye which is innovative, spontaneous and discerning. She finds out what you think you are looking for and then gives you that and so much more than you could have ever visualized. She is the consummate professional focused on the work of creating a magnificent product, while always remaining focused on her customers wants and needs. Additionally, I have seen her wedding photography and honestly I have had my breath taken away with the glorious way she uses light and the touching intimacy she can capture in a photograph. Her work is timeless. Her instincts are superb and her commitment to quality is relentless.Now another point that I think is significant, Rita shoots in black and white or color. Her color work is magnificent, as I said above. BUT, too few photographers have an eye for black and white photography. While they may have learned it and/or experimented with it, that doesn't mean they do it well. The crystalline engagement of a beautifully crafted, perfectly shot black and white photo is a lost art. But Rita has honed the artistry of that lost art. She makes it look easy. It's NOT. But, in her hands that camera captures the depth of the relationship between light and shadow with an accessible elegance that brings eloquence to image. If you want your wedding photos to be the artistic representation of the love you share with your beloved, then you need Rita to photograph your wedding.

I'm surprised that there aren't any recent reviews for Rita and her partner, Jen. I've dealt with both of them since my cousin's wedding last weekend and they're totally fantastic. Jen was unobtrusive (which was probably a challenge at a small wedding!) while still capturing all of the emotional moments. My family enjoyed dealing with her and she gave good directions when taking portraits. I've only seen the sneak preview photos on the blog, but they look really lovely and I can't wait to see the rest.Also, I wanted to create a little surprise for my cousin for Christmas using one of the photos Jen took. Rita was quick to respond saying she was on vacation and would get back to me on Wednesday with the files. Amazingly, she did! Maybe my faith in people's follow-up ability is drained, but it's a bit jaw-dropping when someone says they're going to do something and then does it. I know that my uncle hired her on slightly short notice as well, so I'm going to go ahead and assume that she's always so quick to respond, polite and pleasant to deal with over email.

Great experience! We have used Rita multiple times for many of our family photos. Has been an amazing experience and I'm not a very photogenic person.

Heirloom Photography has nailed it again! This year we gifted our parents a multi-generational photoshoot with their grandchildren. Rita had the fabulous idea of a "day at the zoo" lifestyle shoot. We simply told the grandparents where/when to arrive and a general hint to dress nicely. To quote my mother-in-law "this was absolutely the most special day I have ever had". These photos are such a special gift that highlighted their fun spirit at the zoo, the simplicity of their interaction with the kids, while capturing this special moment in time. Ex: their aging hands, the kid's chunky cheeks, and their expressions when they saw/explained the animals. I cried when Rita popped out at the zoo entrance as a surprise, I cried when viewing the photos, I do not cry easily - but I cried when showing my parents the photo library, and I cried again when creating the photobook gift.
