My review is just for the driving range and putting practice green. If you just want to practice, HOA is excellent. I bought a large bucket (120 balls) and started whacking away. It wasn't crowded on an early Wednesday morning, and the turf (yes it was a grass range) was excellent. The weather was toasty (can anyone say humidity??) and I was sweating like a sieve. I then rolled a few on the practice green. Sunk every putt. ;-) All right maybe not, but the practice was helpful nonetheless. If I lived closer, I'd go here all the time. Seemed like a great place for kids, too.

Nice place to practice everything golf. The 9 hole course is a nice cheap decently kept course that is just enough of a challenge for a practice round. I really like coming here and using their grass driving range and then hopping on the 9 hole course to round out a practice. Pretty much every time I have been able to hop on the 9 hole without a reservation. Cant really beat the price...

Really nice overall golf facility. Great driving range practice area. Nice little 9 hoke course. They host the first tee program for KC. Looks like they do a nice job. I know Tom Watson is involved. Great place for golfers of all ages. They have foot golf with soccer balls also.

I'm always amazed that HOA isn't as busy as it rightfully should be. I feel as though I'm running the risk of exposing my great little secret to the world (well...to yelp) with this review. I've been golfing here since college and HOA is really one of my favorites. They have a nice sized driving range, chipping/pitching green, and putting green for their practice facility. They also have two courses, a 9 hole par-3 course (the Rock) and a regular (par 35) 9 hole course (the River). Prices are extremely reasonable (I always play twilight (after 5pm) and the cost is $10/$13 respectively). Neither of the two courses are extremely difficult making this a great place for beginning golfers and cost is low enough that I can play here several times a week no problem.

Years ago, this place was known as Blue River Golf Course, but it has been reborn as the Heart of America Golf Academy. It has a special 3 hole course for kids to play, a great driving range, a fun par 3 course (with water and sand) and a par 35 regular course, with some very challenging holes. The prices here are incredible. For $12, you can play the par 3 course all day. For $15 ($16 on weekends) you can play the regular course. The carts are $7 for the regular course, and $5 for the par 3 - though you shouldn't need one. Better yet, join for a month ($89) and get a free medium bucket of balls ($7 normally) every day of the month and unlimited golf on the par 3. The course is in great shape - beautiful greens, zoysia fairways, and good tee boxes. It's rarely crowded at all - when I go in the evenings, I often don't see anybody else.

Good luck getting on the course with foot golfers clogging everything up. More priority is given to the foot golfers during prime hours, making me question if this is even a golf course. That, coupled with bad customer service and crappy prices, is why I won't be coming back anytime soon.

HORRIBLE customer service! I have been playing golf for over 20 years. Today was the WORST customer service experience on a golf course, I have ever had in my life! First off, I encountered EIGHT maintenance guys landscaping and mowing while playing my round this afternoon. Normally this does not bother me. However, only one of them acknowledged my simple, "Hello" and wave. He was also the only one who stopped his mowing/spraying, etc. so I could hit/put my ball without a loud noise around me. The others completely ignored me and continued to mow, spray around the tee box, and aerate, all while I attempted to either hit or put my ball. One guy acted as if he never even saw me (he was 3 feet away from me), and he continued to spray around the tee box while I was teeing up my ball. He was directly in front of me blocking my shot, and he continued to spray for 3 minutes before walking to the side. He was still spraying to the side of me while I was in my back swing. I'm assuming the maintenance guys spoke English, since the ones I encountered were all either Caucasian or African-American. Even if they did not speak English, the clubhouse should instruct workers on how to act on a golf course when players approach them while working. Also, the marshal on the River course lacked customer service or a personality. As I was grabbing my driver off the cart on the number 1 hole, he drove up very close to my cart. I smiled and said, "Hello." He completely ignored me, and continued to stare down at his clipboard. I was wondering if he was going to check my receipt or something. So, since he completely ignored my polite greeting, I walked past him to the tee. At this point, while still staring at his clipboard the entire time, he barked, "Can I get your name?" Furthermore, another guy in the clubhouse was rude/short with me on a simple question about the course. Despite a gorgeous course with very reasonable prices, I will never return here! I guess you get what you pay for. $12 for 9 holes = horrible customer service all around!
