Harpo's

My husband and I went to Mizzou so a Harpo's experience, even in KC, was welcome.Cheap college bar drinks. Smells like a college bar. Feels like a college bar. Is sticky like a college bar. What else to say?The patio is freaking amazing though, during the summer months this is awesome.The bathroom is something from my nightmares though so beware.

Located in the heart of Westport...a local fave for game watching, cold beer and quick eats since 1991. Offering daily specials and happy hour from 4pm-7pm Tuesday - Friday. Wednesday's $9.95 burger & fries or tots is a steal of a deal. The firehouse burger was big enough for two. Had a great level of heat living up to its name. The tots were crispy and golden! Not in the mood for a burger try the wings or nachos. Classic buffalo wings with ranch or blue cheese. Nachos with all your favorite toppings. Some of the chips were a little bare so I would like to see a double up on the cheese. Large open seating area. Second level with additional seating. Large patio area. Service was quick and efficient.

Harpo's is a Westport staple, with arguably the best patio in Kansas City. We visited on a beautiful day during The Westport Art Fair, and although the restaurant was busy, it wasn't hard to get a table right away. Upon approaching the outdoor bar, we were immediately told not to order food because the kitchen was too backed up. No problem-we had already eaten. We got our drinks and enjoyed the outdoor space. Eventually my friend ordered a side of fries, which took approximately 40 minutes to arrive. We totally understood that they were busy, but they were also operating on a limited menu consisting of mostly fried food. Maybe they were understaffed in the kitchen. Either way, it was fine and we were enjoying our time until I went to the ladies room and saw that Harpo's has not cleaned or updated that space in a very very long time. The state of the restrooms made me happy I didn't eat anything. A little elbow grease and some care would go a long way here. It's a beautiful restaurant otherwise. Cold beer, great patio, and bad bathrooms. Can't win em all.

Really fun place to get blasted. This isn't some fancy bar, but its a lot of fun. Always good people here and good drunk food. Theres also an outdoor patio area when the weather is nice.

Asked if I just seat myself outside was told yes by two servers Been sitting here ten minutes now and not a word from anyone that works here. Just got up walked past three employees not a word from anyone. Shows why this place is empty on a 70 degree day in February

Great food, strong drinks, but not the cleanest place.I've been to Harpo's many times over the years, and it's always been a blast! The ambiance is great, especially with the music. There's even a jukebox where you can select songs in the back that feels like a throwback.Now, I'm pretty obsessed with spicy chicken sandwiches - Buffalo, Nashville hot, you name it. With that being said, I personally think Harpo's has the absolute best Buffalo Chicken Sandwich in all of Kansas City. Just the right amount of spice, sauce, crispness on the outside and tenderness on the inside - no matter where I go in KC (and I've been to a LOT of places), I can never find one better. Their tots are also to die for and complement the sandwich so well.I don't drink alcohol anymore, but when I did, the drinks were quite strong and reasonably priced! I especially loved their frose during the summers. However, the downfall of that is - and the reason I knocked off a star - I now notice that the place is not very clean. The floors, the bathrooms - even during the daytime when it's not packed.Overall, it's a really fun place to hang out and eat and drink - but if you're not drinking, you may be better off just ordering food to go.

The environment is uninviting. The musicis depressing and the food is bland. PLUS there's an automatic up charge on the drinks. Which were made with cheap bottom shelf liquor. I'll not recommend norreturn to this place.

I've Never been choked by a bartender while there but that's okay. 10/10 would recommend.

I'd like to say the food was good but after waiting for an hour and seeing guest receive their food when we ordered an hour prior to them was not ideal. Poor service, disorganized. Perhaps if you order straight from bar better but definitely do not recommend eating food here or sitting at a table expecting service. We ordered food and drinks. Drinks came but food never did after waiting an hour.

Food is always decent. Nothing special but fine, GREAT back patio that's the best part of this bar. Service is consistently worst in the city. Brunette girl serving patio tonight 3/30/24 was actually horrendously rude. Probably not coming back
