I have been buying things here for over 20 years. Friendly folks, knowledgeable and has the great smell of an old school hardware store.

There is something really great about having alocal hardware store. This place has it all. If they don't have it, they will work to get it for you. The staff knows what they are doing and they don't overwhelm you with things you don't need. If you need things looked after or repaired? They know someone for that. Are you thinking about the best tool for your kitchen, for your backyard or for your farm? They have thought about that too. Just walking around the store can be a lot of fun and you never know when you will find something and say: I hadn't thought of that as an idea! I love being able to support a local hardware store!

I have a Mantis garden tiller I inherited from my father in law. It is over thirty years old. Took it to the Gronis small engine repair shop. It is now up and running in two hours and inexpensive. Quality service and products.

Looking for a hard-to-find item? This is the place. For specialty hardware my short list includes Gronis and Strasser. Nothing else in the greater KC area compares to these two stores! I tried a dozen places for a specialty furniture caster/wheel. Walked into Gronis and there is was, right on the display peg! A bit expensive, but inventory turns are slower for specialty items, so I understand. A great place to browse for ideas too!

Outstanding customer service and competitive prices. There has never been a time I've gone in that I didn't receive some helpful insight for my task regardless of size. A tremendous asset to the Leavenworth community.

I would NOT recommend the repair shop in the back. Had my mower for annual maintenance for about a month. Communication was poor and estimates for when the work would be done kept "slipping" from week to week. When I got it back, the blade had not been sharpened and the undercarriage had not been cleaned. When I looked at the ticket, it had not been written down, though it was discussed when I took it in. The guy at the back counter did not smile once and spoke only the absolute bare minimum required for the transaction, discouraging questions. I don't know if I interrupted a computer game or if he was being productive online, but he was not friendly or customer oriented at all. I will not be back. (To be honest, I felt like his attitude was racially motivated.)On the plus side, the mower was clean on the top side and started right up when I went to use it. The cost was only $50 instead of the $75 I was quoted. But, I still have to deal with a blade so dull it only beats the grass down instead of cutting it.Guess I should be glad it only took a month.

Helpful friendly staff. The staff members will go out of their way to greet you and help you find whatever you are looking for. This store is great and have pretty much anything you can think of. Will definitely continue to shop there and recommend this store.

having been born in 1944 and living south of Leavenworth in boling, ks., my grandfather, fred Milton sloan who was great friends with carl Holman used to take to me to gronis hardware all the time and buy all the goodies he needed for the old farm on new Lawrence road. it was a place of fascination for myself and I will never forget it. kudos to gronis hardware as it has been in business since NOAH LEARNED THE SIDESTROKE AND MOSES LEARNED HOW TO TRIM BEARDS! IT IS A NAME FROM THE PAST HOWEVER; NOT ONE THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY BUT LIVE ON AS ONE WHOSE PROPRIETOR HAS INTEGRITY, QUALITY AND LIVES UP TO THE NAME "GRONIS HARDWARE". I'm a new homeowner in Leavenworth and upon my discovery that there was a community garden on the backside of my home, I was sent unanimously to Gronis for every gardening/repair need I may have. Walking through the door was a trip back to my childhood of the community hardware store filled to the rafters with every fixing and kitchen gadget you can imagine. The staff was friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable. I was able to purchase everything I needed from seeds and fertilizer to tasty snacks at the register. It became apparent immediately that Gronis will be my first stop for many things in the future.
