If you're coming through KC, I highly recommend stopping in at Gracie Humaita. My brother and I stopped in and rolled with Nick, Chuck, and Ben. Nice guys, great challenge, and were very welcoming. If we have opportunity, we'll be back in a heartbeat. Recommended!

I was in town for a few days, called the academy and spoke with the owner Michael. He was super cool and invited me to come in and train. He was out of town when I went but had the pleasure of meeting Shawn (hope I got your name right brother!), Wyatt, and Jay. What a great team! No egos, super friendly, and top notch instruction and training! The other academy members were also very welcoming and I felt very comfortable. I rolled with Jay at the end, and he took the time to help me understand some great concepts and techniques. This is such a cool place, that even though the class had ended, Jay was so generous to spend extra time after class to work with me. Shawn and Wyatt patiently waited until we were done! Thank you gentlemen!If you live in Kansas City MO, check this place out! The camaraderie, top notch instruction, and positive environment is the best!I now have some new tricks under my sleeve to bring back to my home academy. What great place!

Great gym for beginners and advanced folks alike. The instruction is excellent covering self defense and technique. They cover all the details for a strong foundation, basics and then advanced techniques. Classes taught by the staff are excellent and you get great value for what you pay for. Classes are very relaxed about when they end so you don't feel like you get kicked off the mat. Rolling is optional but encouraged for skill development at the end of class. I know a lot of beginners are intimidated by that but they don't throw you in the deep end like other places. There is great comraderie here and folks are welcomed from all walks of life.

This gym couldn't be more welcoming! I was in town for work and found out that this gym was right down street so I decided to visit for an open mat. Everyone I met and trained with were gracious and skilled. There was no bullying or tough guy antics - there were even little kids training on the mats and they looked like killers! They were being coached by one of the purple belts and you could tell he was passionate about their progress. He was even coaching me when I was getting destroyed by some of the locals! This was a highlight of my trip out here, I'll definitely be visiting again if I'm in town.

I was only there 2 weeks. I got injured then I moved away so I never went back. Even so, this is an excellent Academy. It has a relaxed old school atmosphere which I love. They technics are advanced the instructors are patient and are very good. The advanced students help the less advanced students work on drills and their game. I would recommend this school for beginners and black belts. Wyatt (I believe his name is) help me greatly. I have 10 year of experience but been out of the game for a while and he was willing to work with me to get my game back. This is the way Jiu-jitsu should be. Even though I broke my ribs, it was no one fault. if I was still in KC I would be there now. Don't let that discourage you. Serious Injuries are rare. People in this school treat each other like family. If you are thinking about learning BJJ just go. Showing up is half the battle. Gianni

Great gym and great group in KC. I stopped by for a visit and had a lot of fun. Really tough but also really welcoming. I'll be coming back whenever I'm in town.

Very good communication, they didn't spam us but kept us informed. This is the place we chose to try and they are so professional with the kids. It really seems like a nice place. Thanks for giving our kids confidence to go out and be good humans.

I was just in town for two days, but I stopped in and everyone was super friendly and very helpful in showing me some new tricks and help point out errors in my game.. im still super new to BJJ but i felt very at home here. If you are considering BJJ i'd certainly recommend coming here and checking it out. OSSSS!
