Goldfish Swim School - Overland Park

The entire point of taking your child here is so they can learn skills, be graded/approved and moved up to higher skilled classes. This only works if a) your child is graded and approved to move up, and b) there is room in those upper classes. If your child does not get a grade (ours has not for some reason, she has been every week since we started and as of today she has been graded sept 11 and Oct 10) and there is no availability for upper classes, your kid will just attend the same class over and over while you pay $115 a month. Had the way things work in this place been explained at the beginning and they didn't advertise falsely, I wouldn't be salty and I would manage my expectations. But since they lie about the length of time the classes go, and don't tell you that there is nowhere for your kid to go once they graduate levels if the class is full, this pay schedule/schedule does not work.

Can I just say, WOW! What an amazing experience. Hannah was our first contact with Goldfish and was inviting, flexible(this momma brain mixed up swim dates), and informative. This was her first swim lesson with Goldfish and even though it was a consultation for her, it was such a positive experience that we signed up for the month! Phil was amazing and beautifully engaged our daughter! The facility is well clean and maintained too.

Updated to my previous review: Goldfish manager and owner contacted me the next day, apologize for the unusual experience we had faced, and they said they are going to train their staff. I take it as a good attitude of willing to improve. Will be back someday. It was good before the Covid 19 with one of my daughter's favorite instructor. We went back to GF in May 2021 after 1 year staying at home. My daughter was in level 3. Anyway the teachers changed eventually, they got new ones every single lesson, so 4 different teachers for a month. Pretty annoying!!! I had my daughter withdraw because I cannot stand that fact, then the last day a new instructor not even looked at my daughter one time, she focused on the other student. If they have 0 star I would give it as 0.

Our kids adore GFKC, the staff and the beachy vibes! I have two boys that were either not skilled in the water or not confident. After only a few weeks, they are incredible swimmers, trusting of the water and their ability to navigate a pool and even self-rescue in an emergent situation. I feel so good knowing that I no longer have to worry about whether or not they could handle falling into a pool or get to safety.Lily and Whitley brought my timid littles too confident swimmers!The biggest thing to note about their growth with GFKC is that this confidence and capability gain has translated into multiple areas of their life. They "dive into" everything with a smile!And during 2020, Goldfish has gone above and beyond to ensure every safety measure while also maintaining the personal care and attention of the kids. We don't feel like we are missing any of the special experience that GFKC strives to bring during *non-Covid* circumstances. But the kids definitely can't wait until hugs are back in style. :)We love GFKC!

I feel so grateful to have found Goldfish Swim School! I have been bringing my daughter here since she was 8 months old and it's become a highlight of our week!! The staff is incredibly kind and professional. Everything has been so easy, organized, clean, consistent. And if you need something the customer service is truly top notch. Highly highly recommend for your kiddos and recommend starting them as young as possible!

We love the instructors! They are so patient and good with the kids. The facility is very clean, even the bathrooms. Plenty of showers and changing rooms.

I have no idea how this company has such high stars. Terrible experience. I wouldn't sign up with goldfish again. It's extremely hard to get in touch with them over the phone once you're signed up. The instructors are hit or miss. Some of them are super fun and interactive with the kids, but others are not at all. If you do a trial it seems like it's rare that you keep your same instructor consistently in future classes. I think one of my daughters had a new teacher in every class she did. So your kid has to get comfortable with a new instructor every class. You sign up based on your experience with the instructor during the trial and they make you commit to a month of lessons but then the instructor is inconsistent and some of them don't do anything to help your kid feel comfortable. Just not the experience I would expect and they need to do a better job training their instructors to be interactive and fun with kids. When you try to cancel your lessons they don't let you use your remaining lessons that they made you pay for unless you sign back up. Truly seems like a scam
