Now called the Glenwood Arts Theater, these theaters are old, and look, smell and feel old. The screens are small.
Love seeing one of my faves on display here

This is one of my favorite places to catch a movie. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a modern theater, but it has an old school feel that always makes me very nostalgic. The theater is always clean, the snacks are great, and if you're looking for a no fuss movie experience, I highly recommend this place. The unique movies they show are worth checking out as well as standard box office titles.

I really enjoyed this theatre it can be a little hard to find it is inside a strip mall. They show a lot of smaller lower budget films. Tickets and concession prices were all reasonably priced. I was most impressed with the service we got. The staff was super friendly and helpful. If you are into film and into smaller independent type films this has to be on your radar to check out. They have a great crew and have events throughout the year.

I absolutely loved everything about this throwback movie experience from the second I walked in. Over the years, I didn't realize they shifted away from 95th and Metcalf to 95th and Mission, now nestled in the basement of the Ranchmart strip mall. It's like a time machine when you walk in, and I mean that in the best way imaginable. Everyone we interacted with was so friendly, the vibes were high. You can't find that when it's a kiosk to order tickets like some of the newer ones. We saw The Holdovers, which is perfect for a theater like this. By that I mean it's more about the story, less about special effects, so the smaller theater screen works well with this. Good movie, by the way! You won't find the big, fancy recliners here, but you will find the springy, old-school theater seats that do just fine in my opinion. Quick aside; we have two small kids, so getting away for a movie night at an actual theater doesn't happen that often (ok, it never happens). I forgot how immersive a movie in a theater can be, without the distractions of phones and life. Don't get me wrong, streaming things rules, but my latest experience with Glenwood reminded me how fun and impactful it can be to actually experience a movie instead of just watching one. Do yourself a favor, and find a movie here you've never heard of, snag tickets and a bag of popcorn, and enjoy this independent, friendly movie theater.

I've been to Glenwood theater back in the days when it was open on Metcalf. This is my first time here to this theater. New owner purchased the old Glenwood sign and this theater is located in Leawood. The entrance is on the back side of Ranch Mart shopping center. If you like fine arts, independent movie and even subtitles movie, then this is the place to see it. Walking in you can tell a lot of their customers are older and they do offer senior discount. Regular ticket is about $8. Concession reasonable priced. Customer service was great. They even fill up your water cups with ice for you. The theater room is smaller and have the old seats from the previous theater so they are not too comfortable. Restroom are clean and modern. Lobby features items of the movies showing at the time. I will be back for more movies.

OK, so you don't have a screen so big that it has its own ZIP code. And maybe you don't have huge reclining seats, or server service with a menu of bar food, or tons of crazy drink options. But you know what you do get?You get cinema the way it existed for decades. You get independent film options that miss the mainstream movie chains. You get a quieter, clean viewing room with reasonable concession options and fun film accoutrements. What's not to love?Popcorn & a medium soda set us back $12, and with matinee pricing, we were entertained for about $25 total. Sure, it's still $25, but that's a pretty affordable option and we all know what the entertainment economy is like. We drew straws on which show to see and ended up with a Morgan Freeman art house flick that was really enjoyable. There were maybe three or four other people in the theater, all of whom we greeted or conversed with, which is unheard of at a big chain. Talking up strangers in the dark? Oh, clutch at my pearls. But at Glenwood Arts? We made friends, we enjoyed as a *community*, and we loved it all. I think we saw about eight previews, none of which had a thing to do with Marvel or explosions, and made note of a couple to either come back for or search on a streaming option. Winning.Parking is easy behind Ranchmart, and you can even have covered options. The viewing clientele is a little older and the building is a little dated, but having fun doesn't always mean glitz & glam. Fun can be had in a zillion ways, and Glenwood Arts gives you a chance to have fun through the viewing lens of movie days gone by. Stop in for an afternoon or an evening and you will be pleasantly entertained.

This old and spacious theater offers treasures for the art film consumer. There are no frills but they offer special showings of films traveling throughout the country, right here is Kansas. I am happy to supports them for I appreciate the films being shown, either education or just off the wall quirky. Thank you.

Feels like I'm stepping back in time in all the best ways. Not the most comfortable seats, and the theaters always run cold, but I love how peaceful and tucked-in the whole building feels.

Where can you see a first run artsy film for less than $7? This is the place! It's an older theater and the seats are somewhat rickety, but you can't beat the prices. No concessions for us on this trip. As it seems with the older theaters like this, the floors seem to be in need of a deep clean. The screen is smaller, of course, but you can always sit closer to the screen. Overall it was a satisfying visit, especially because our film was so good.I saw some signs about Medicare information, which makes me think that the theater is involved deeply in the community. Always happy to visit these places.

This place is old. And I don't mean in a cool, vintage, retro way. I mean I felt like the seats and floors hadn't been cleaned in ages. Overall, it was just scuzzy. My friend got popcorn and she said even that tasted old.The walls aren't soundproof and my quiet, artsy-fartsy movie was interrupted by loud bombs and screaming from the movie in the next theater.I don't know how many of you remember the $1 show, but I feel like that's what this theater should charge. I've had better cinematic experiences from friends' home theaters. I won't be back.

Have been attending this theater for years as they have some of the Indie films and documentaries that don't make it to mainstream theaters.Love the small intimate lobby. The theater we were in was reminiscent of much older theaters, long and and narrow but had a lot of seating. Really enjoy these theaters. They are looking for help right now so hope some retirees that love the film industry would take the opportunity to help out. It is sad to think about them closing if they can't attract larger crowds and sell more tickets and of course hire more staff. Tear tickets??? That's easy! What is it with younger people who don't want to work? Are they mooching off mom n dad for life?Anyhow, love the Arts theaters here.
