We live in the St. Louis metro area, but my husband's family members live in or around Kansas City, so we visit there frequently. I have been traveling to KC with my husband several times a year since we began dating over thirty years ago. Columbia is approximately halfway between the two locations, so we almost always stop there for lunch. We've eaten at a lot of Columbia restaurants over the years, but there are a couple that we keep coming back to. George's is definitely one of the two.We have raised two children and have been bringing them to George's all of their lives. We used to go to their old location, and when they moved, we followed. The owner, George, is practically a part of our kids' childhood. I can remember changing their diapers in the bathroom, and when they were little, one of them announced to George that his pizza had the best sausage of any pizza anywhere. It was not unusual for George to give each of them a quarter for the candy machine when we stopped in. My kids are in their late twenties now, and they still enjoy going to George's. When one of their friends was heading off to college in Columbia, we made sure to tell him about George's place.As some have mentioned, it is true that the space could use a little updating, and George's manner may seem a little old-fashioned, but for us that's part of the charm - kind of like a trip to Grandpa's house. We almost always get a pizza to share and sometimes a salad. We all really love George's pizza. The toppings are generous, and the sausage has a great flavor. My husband has also tried the gyro and I have ordered the shrimp platter, and those are both very good too. It's nice having a place that holds as many memories for us as George's does, and as long as it's there, it will probably remain one of our go-to places.

Tucked in the Lakeview Mall, this place is a hidden gem. George truly treats you like family, and the food and decor are something special! We will definitely be stopping here next time we're in town!

Stopped in to meet up with some friends . Had a great meal and the service was fastcand friendly. They are doing some remodeling, but still very clean and adequate. Can be a little tricky to get to if you're from out of town and/or never been there.

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant! The Owner is one of the kindest and nicest people I've ever met! I ordered the Wheww honey hot pizza which came with pepperoni and I don't eat pork, he was more than happy to accommodate me and substituted it for chicken. I also ordered the hot wings and I can say they were some of the best wings I've had in my life! I will be a return customer whenever I am passing through again!
