Genesis Health Clubs - Ward Parkway

Was a guest at Genesis on a Saturday. It was busy. This fitness center has free weights, childcare, clean locker rooms, smoothie bar, group classes and more.Took a MixxedFit cardio class by Tiffany,Taylor and others. It was so much fun. Would def go back for the group classes. Great instructors. Friendly staff.

this gym smells awful and is filthy, you only have 3 days to cancel your membership or pay $200, don't waste your money. The equipment is old and shoddy as well.

Stopped here to get a work out in while I was traveling. Great facility, clean equipment, friendly vibe. I was greeted at the door, given a tour and felt welcome. Loved the sauna!

THIS PLACE IS A NIGHTMARE! Absolutely horrible. Run the other way, I would strongly suggest NOT getting a membership here. The staff lie directly to your face. They guarantee you can cancel-anytime, no cancel fees, etc. LIES. They charge you HUNDREDS of dollars just to cancel... then they follow-up with you over and over and over again continuing to send you additional bills. They harass you. They're a scam. They're fraudulent. I've literally had to block their number from their Wichita office because they won't stop calling me demanding more and more money. They called so many times, it was beginning to impact my ability to do my job. Dishonest, terribly facility, dishonest staff, filthy floors / locker room, just 100% NOT the place to go. This has become such a massive issue, I've had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau just to get them off my back. This is the most unbelievable nightmare ever!

Read all the bad reviews before I joined, still joined. You cannot beat classes, pool, 24-hour availability, and childcare during the day for this price. Best amenities of any gym in KC for phenomenal price. Some staff are more chatty than others, but it doesn't bother me either way. Sure a "Hey welcome! Hope you have a great workout" with a smile is nice, but considering most of the time I look like a hungover hobgoblin and can barely carry on a conversation when I go late at night, I don't get my feelings too hurt if someone doesn't greet me.

Pretty overpriced for what it is. I pay $60/mo and stuff is usually broken. For $60/mo you'd think they'd get things fixed faster. Planet fitness is cheaper and has a nicer facility. Gabriel and the employees are super nice tho

Classes in general are pretty good. But whoever designed the webpage ought to go. It takes forever to register for a class even with membership login. I give us usually. I do not have a lifetime to follow the twisted mind of the IT experts. As a result, well attended and good classes may be canceled. Of course the IT designers never bother to use the webpage to realize how ridiculously difficult it isthis is why my ranking is only ok although teachers are good and some are very good.

I've been to 10 or so Genesis gyms and this location is the worst. The facilities are dirty, locker room stinks, and equipment is worn out or broken. None of this is that bad, but what really makes this gym bad is the staff. I've had so many rude interactions with the staff at the front desk. The staff continually treats customers poorly. I'm avoiding this location in the future.

DO NOT - I REPEAT MYSELF - DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP HERE! THIS IS A SCAM AND YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF! Over and over again, when signing up for a membership, I asked if there was any cancel fee. I was promised over and over and over again that there is no cancel fee, I could cancel any time and that there would be no penalty. I could simply call and cancel and it would be over. LIES. LIES AND LIES AND LIES. They REFUSE to speak to you on the phone about handling. They use bullying tactics to intimidate you trying to get you from cancelling. Further, they take nearly 30 minutes just to get you a contract to sign and cancel... and then... THEY CHARGE YOU $100s!!!! This is the biggest scam I've ever dealt with. I'm now receiving threatening letters from Kaisha, their "account manager" threatening they will be "forced to take further action on your account". I did NOT agree to this. I was PROMISED this would not be the case. I didn't ask once, I didn't ask five times, I asked in excess of 10xs at the time of sign-up to ensure I wasn't being tricked / roped into a scam... they lied and then they scammed me. This has escalated to weekly threatening mail. It has even gotten so that I have had to block MULTIPLE numbers from harassing me all day at work. I've never been terrorized by a company as badly as Genesis. The gym you ask? AH. Haven't even gotten there... FILTHY. Stinks. They DO NOT clean this facility. It is gross. Bottles of "cleaner" are watered down solutions. They make you use a REUSABLE towel to clean with... (we're just SPREADING germs this way...). They have CARPET in the locker room that is FILTHY and never gets swept. There is visible mold and mildew in the steam room. The boards are collapsing in the sauna. Parking is horrible and their staff is absolutely worthless.If you take ANY review seriously, I assure you, this is the one to read and take to heart. Don't step in with these scam artists, you're stepping in the mud, I promise you poor results. HORRIBLE staff, lies, scams... this has escalated to the point that I'm now involving my personal attorney and the Better Business Bureau to get them to stop harassing me. Lots of people like to blow smoke because they're upset about a single bad experience. To give proof, I'm attaching a photo of one of the many letters I have received. I BEG OF YOU, SAVE YOURSELF HEARTACHE AND TROUBLE, DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SCAMS. Use your common sense... this place is a corporation that is dragging a 2-star review already. There are PLENTY of establishments with raving reviews. Why would anyone waste their time with this house of harassment who demands hundreds of dollars to cancel AND THEN SENDS YOU A BILL FOR MORE. I've cancelled! Why am I getting harassed for a membership I cancelled MONTHS ago. It's fraud and highway robbery. If it doesn't stop, I'll be forced to file for a restraining order against their company. I've already had to change my bank account number and my debit card number. Don't let this be you. Please, don't let this be you.

I have been a member for 2 years now. I love the classes they offer, especially a dance exercise class called Groove. I can no longer take the class due to a lack of AC and ventilation in the studio room. It has been broken for over 6 weeks now. When I ask when it will be fixed all I get is lip service: waiting for a part, supply change problems, maintenance guy is busy. Also, the whirlpool is always broken, this time it has been 2 weeks.Genesis management is too cheap to spend the money needed for maintenance at Ward Parkway. The physical state of the building has declined over the last 2 years and does not get any better.Something is always broken. Take your gym money elsewhere, join the YMCA and use the very nice new facility downtown. My membership is free through my Medicare insurance otherwise I would cancel it.
