Genesis Health Clubs - Independence

I decided to try this location again, I had been a member of 24 hour fitness, we dropped it because every time we went something was broken. I was happy when I came back, for the most part every thing works. However, I was told when I joined, just over 2 years ago, that there would be updates, with the exception of everything working and wifi, no updates.Then we had the personal training fiasco.DO NOT SIGN UP FOR PERSONAL TRAINING!!! My daughter was on my contract and was told she could pay out of her pocket for training, then I get a horrendous charge along with my monthly fee. She is told it won't happen again, next month same as the last. "Oh, you didn't sign a cancellation." Next month same as the last. Every time that I called I was passed on and when a manager was to call me I instead get a front desk person that hung up on me. THEY DO NOT GIVE YOU COPIES OF ANYTHING YOU SIGN. With that I have no Idea what she signed and probably never will. Side note, part of this fiasco, my daughter quit going to personal training during the first month of this because her personal trainer quit. His reason was that they were not paying him properly. Wow, wonder where my money went???

To be honest the gym itself is nice. The problem is that people that they hire put peoples safety at risk. There's a woman that works for their clean crew at night that told a stalker that I have the times I go there and the times I leave including the kind of vehicle I drive. Went to speak to a manager and they claim that the cleaning crew is not hired directly by genesis. I no longer feel safe going to any genesis health clubs.

Rude front desk staff at this location. Especially late at night.First time I came in I wanted a membership... But apparently 10:01 PM is too late I "needed to be there before 10 PM"... Next day I bought a month pass.A month later I needed to renew it so I came in before 10pm and was then told, by the same asshole, that I was too late yet again even though he told me 10pm was the cut off and it was only 9:45pmHe just smiled and walked away

Genesis gyms are honestly the biggest scams!! We got a membership here. We went in to workout and brought our little ones, walked into the toddler room and it smelled like urine and sweat. I was hesitant to leave them but we were already there. As we went back to pick up the girls, I walked in and asked my oldest to go grab her little sister. She did as she was told and as I was standing there a worker started yelling at her, telling her to keep her hands to herself, in such a hateful manner. Not constructive, calm...just hateful. I was taken back and irritated. I said something, and she just looked up and said oh, okay. ANOTHER thing is they do Automatic withdraw for memberships each month, which is fine. HOWEVER, come January, we get an extra $40 taken out of our account... I called because there was no email or notification telling us what this extra $40 was for. They called it their "ENHANCEMENT FEE" and stated it was to make sure our contracted membership price didn't go up. WHAT?!? They wouldn't refund us the $40 back. THEN COVID-19 hits, gym is shut down as of March 17th. I call to see if they still plan on taking April's Membership. NO ONE answers. It's just the owner talking about the importance of working out and how they will prorate payments. Then hangs up. Come today April 1st, withdrawn from my account the monthly membership. Every other company/financial institution/etc is offering HELP during this time. NOT Genesis, they don't even have a representative you can speak to, to get more information. Or provide financial help during this time. Their gyms are sitting vacant and their still getting paid. The Wichita owners of this facility should be ASHAMED! But their not, their getting by just fine as the rest of us struggle through this pandemic.

I love this gym! Every time I come to town my husband and I come and my kids love the play space. I wish we had a gym like this in my town. It has everything you want in a gym - and the lighting makes your muscles look yoked! Great motivation

They charge extra to keep up the facility but even after the renovation still the men's bathroom always dirty and the place lacks cleaning. The clean towels always missing . The front desk staff are always friendly though. Maybe this is only in the afternoon idk‍ hope it improves

Hard to work with!The employees don't seem to know what their job is and try to push responsibility on others. Had a friend try to apply for free 3 day pass just to figure out that you had to redeem it between certain time periods! It said that no where in the form to fill out, such a big inconvenience for anyone looking to try it. If you are thinking about joining, I would recommend to not, just seeing how they dealt with this one situation speaks a lot to who they are, steer clear

I went in to get information about membership and the clerk was talking to the person running their bar area. He looked over to me three times and looked back, finally on the fourth time, he approached me and asked me if he could help me with something. He didn't pay much attention and got annoyed with me when I asked for information about the "platinum vs gold" level gyms. This gym seems run down and not worth it. I was a member of this facility when it was a 24 hour fitness, sad it's become dilapidated.

signed up for indoor pool after 3 visits pool smell weird and it didn't seem clean. I also kepted getting a cold or flu after visiting. My plan was to save the cancellation fee at quit at the 1 year until they charged me the yearly up charge and my questioning the charge lead to their staff trainer verbally fat shaming me. The staff at needs serious retraining in human life skills and lessons that body size is not the purpose for joining a gym. A little kindness not fake smiles and rude judgmental attacks. It was worth having to pay $250 + to just cancel and never have anything to do with this gym ever again. Save yourself the Expensive lesson don't join this gym it is NOT a physical or emotional healthy place to spend anytime or money with.

Great gym. Welcoming community. Beautiful facility. Tons of top notch equipment. Highly recommend!
