Gebhardt's Chicken Dinners

Of all the chicken places in and around Pittsburg, KS this is my favorite. Actually it's tied with Barto's but I am usually only in town on Monday and they are open ... the rest are not! Great chicken and sides, really good onion rings. The service is wonderful and it's comfortable and not fussy. The food is the star. Treat yourself, you won't be sorry.

I used to eat at Gebhardts all the time when I was a child. I hadn't eaten there in years and we decided to try them. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed it. It is fixed fresh, so don't expect to get it fast. The fresh food is worth waiting for.

We Have heard they cannot be beat!We have landed at the ANNIE's Over there and will not be going back..,lolBlaaaaThey were closed!!!So we didn't get to eat there yet!!

So good in a down home kind of way. The place was packed but the service was excellent, even providing us with another entree when the kitchen was backed up and our food was delayed.

SEK has plenty to choose from when it comes to chicken houses and they each have their own signature offering. Gebhardt's is homemade chicken and noodles served on Monday nights. The place will be packed with locals and out-of-towners who make the trip out on Monday for dinner. If you're planning on coming on a day other than Monday, don't fret! Fresh chicken is served throughout the week.

Super cheap! Two of us ate with lots of leftovers and just water for less than $20. The chicken was crispy and moist. Potatoes and gravy were good. Not a fan of the corn, tasted like it was straight out of the can.

I was told that this chicken restaurant beats all others in the area but something must have changed. The gizzards were so tough that 3 of us almost broke a tooth on the first bite. We had to throw the order out. Unfortunately we ordered take out so we couldn't send them back. The fried chicken was only slightly better but it was dry and not a lot of meat on them. When I called the person who answered had no idea how the chicken is sold and what the prices are. Probably not a good idea to put a new girl on the phone. I am not going out of my way to order from here again.

The food is passable. The service was abominable. There were 4 in our party and the server got every one of our orders wrong. A side salad was not delivered until the end of the meal even though she was reminded that it hadn't been served. And ambiance....... you gotta be kidding. There's no semblance of any.

First things first, you must come on a Monday!I went here tonight with one of my friends who attends Pitt State University. He mentioned he went by himself a couple of weeks before and had to wait a bit for a table and for his food but it was well worth it. So I told him when I came to Pittsburgh I had to try this no matter what. Let me tell you something, I'm so glad we did this! We got lucky and when we walked in there was an open table for two...remember you have to seat yourself because these folks are bustin' their butts! I highly recommend the Chicken & Noodles (only Mondays) and instead of getting a side get extra mashed potatoes. If you want to be gluttonous like me, go ahead and add 2 wings or some chicken backs because their fried chicken is extremely tasty!One thing worth mentioning, it is cash only so make sure you stop somewhere on your way in to grab some cash because there is not an ATM close by.Overall, this is a must-visit if you ever find yourself in Southeast Kansas! Kudos to the team running that restaurant and running it RIGHT!

Listen! I've been eating Barto's chicken since I was 5yo and I will never stray. But this gd chicken is so close to beating Barto's that I can't stand it! It has all the crispy goodness that Barto's has but there's something missing in the flavor. It's not much, but it's something. I gave them 5stars bc I eat their chicky noodles like it gives life! Bc I think it actually gives you life!!! Love it! Keep up the great work y'all!!!
