Fountain City Guitarworks

I brought in an old Yamaha that had never been touched by a luthier before. I had the nut and saddle replaced and I simply can't believe how well the guitar sounds and plays. They did it absolutely fabulous job. I would give them six stars if I could.

I had two guitars and took them to different luthiers. I was impressed by both places. I took a '66 Fender Stratocaster to Fountain City.They identified the year, then did a re-fret, cleaned up the hardware, wiring and full setup -while salvaging and keeping all the original parts and pickups. At first, I found their website a bit unfriendly. Their appointments were always booked up and I couldn't make contact with anyone at the shop. Once I got an appointment and took my guitar in, the guys there couldn't have been nicer. Guitar lovers dream. Very laid back environment. They are very knowledgeable. They do everything from simple repairs to full custom paint jobs. After the project was finished it looked amazing and sounded amazing. I had to run it back there to fix a small buzz. No questions asked. They fixed it and rewired my guitar. They are excellent luthiers and I'll be back.

They did a fret level and complete setup on my bass. Wow! What a difference! The action is low and there is zero buzz! It sounds great and is easy to play. The staff was very friendly, explained everything, completed the work in the time frame they quoted and for the price they quoted. I am completely satisfied and can highly recommend fountain city!

I dropped my Strat which damaged the volume pot and a couple of frets. I brought it in for repairs and also had them do a blender knob modification. The quality of work was great, the price was fair and they finished the work quicker than they promised. I'll trust them for work on any of my guitars. Love the blender knob mod.

Amazing work! Restored two guitars 1 acoustic, 1 electric for me to the same quality as when new. Highly recommend!

Have had multiple guitar set ups with awesome turn around time . Also had their hand wound pickups installed and they sound amazing. Best guitar work in Kansas City hands down.

Took my PRS to have it setup and ended up going with a fret dress for $225 on the dot. Never seen my frets so shiny and ring out as good they are. I'm so sure of their service, that I will be bringing my vintage acoustic for repair. If you're wondering where you should go, fountain city guitar works should be top of your list...

Had them work on a Strat I had in storage for several years. Plays better than it ever has before. Great craftsmen and great service.

Fountain City Guitarworks is my go-to place for any kind of stringed instrument repair. These dudes are honest, fairly-priced, do great work, and good people. They fixed up a Jazz Bass for me last year and worked with me to get it wired up for the tone I want out of it with custom pickups that Mark made and the Competition Burgundy and Teal Green starburst that Shaun masterfully painted. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area needing some awesomely good work or a new guitar (the Seüf brand for electric guitars is stellar). They work wonders on repairs, restoration, rehab, tune-up, and set-up. Even though I no longer live in the KC area, I save my guitarwork for when i visit because I know it will be done right at Fountain City.
