Fortune Palace Chinese Restaurant

I really had hope for this place being my official favorite in the area, but I still struggle to find truly spectacular Chinese food in the KC area. The general tso chicken was soggy and didn't have any crispness to its outside layer. The broccoli was also limp and lifeless and didn't have any of the flavor from the sauce or the chicken. The rice had very little vegetables and tasted like burnt soy-sauce. The best part of the experience was the egg drop soup and egg rolls. Those had a great flavor and the egg drop soup was a surprise because most of the restaurants here have a horrible smell to their soup and flavor, like it has soured. This is another decent middle of the road Chinese restaurant where you get exactly what you expect from Chinese food in missouri.

I want to start off by saying we were so excited to try Fortune Palace based off of the good reviews. We ordered carry out- which is the only service they're offing at this time. We didn't mind because we wanted to take it home anyways. I ordered the chicken and assorted vegetables and my boyfriend ordered the pan fried dumplings. When I got my chicken and veggies it was warm and looked delicious. The variety of veggies was awesome and I think it was the best assortment of veggies I have had in a Chinese dish. But, the flavor was very bland. Same with the dumplings. The interior was really nice and is a great environment for when they open back up to the public for dine in. Overall, we were disappointed by the flavorless food that we ordered.

We were passing through town and were in the mood for Chinese food. Not familiar with the area we took a chance and stop there 20mn before closing. You would be wrong to judge the quality of this restaurant based on its humble and unassuming decor. The service was very friendly and super fast. The food was so good! Fresh, hot, not overly oily or salty. I wish they were located in our hometown!

Updating my review because I placed two orders of the Black Peppered Beef cook the meat separate from the vegetables. I asked if they could cook the two orders like this: one with beef only and the other with vegetables only. They told me that the vegetables were minimal so they cannot cook just vegetables by itself. I've literally ordered this dish over a dozen times and the meat and veggie portions are nearly identical. I just don't get the logic. I hate to give places low reviews, but this request wasn't outrageous so I'm not sure why there's push back.

Two words: HONEY CHICKENHonestly, this is a fantastic neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The staff as so so friendly and the food never ceases to be perfectly satiating.

When their with my girlfriend not too bad but I didn't eat it all and was going to save it for leftovers for lunch at work the next day the Togo container exploded in my lunch bag thin plastic and it wasn't really good the the next day...so don't expect leftovers but when it was fresh it was good

The customer service is horrible and they are very unprofessional to deal with especially when they made the mistake they don't take accountability for anything they do wrong

My mom, my girlfriend and I all arrived late for dinner. I freely admit it was really close to closing time, and that was probably our first mistake. My mom and my girlfriend enjoyed their food, but my entree tasted "off," so I said I couldn't eat it, and I was desperately hungry. Probably had low blood sugar. So the server comes to the table, and she explains that all they have at that point is some egg drop soup. I love egg drops, so a bowl is brought to me. It was pretty cold, but I was too hungry to care at that point. Ended up with food poisoning. I know it wasn't the first entree (some shrimp dish) because my mom ate it without any issues. I think the soup was taken off the heat, and then they served me a bowl anyway after even though it had dropped below Serve Safe temp. The restaurant was pretty nice. We won't be back, though.

This is my favorite Chinese food in KC. The food is tasty and good portion size.We have eaten in the restaurant before Covid and have always had a wonderful experience and now they only have carry out, hopefully they will open dine in again soon. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We have called and placed our order and have ordered online many times. We have never had a problem here. We love this place and everyone should try it.

I would like to support this place but I can't anymore. The food tasted like grocery store frozen Chinese. There are too many good quality Chinese in the area. Used to be good. Not anymore.
