Went in (3rd visit with my half-Mexican husband) for lunch yesterday. It wasn't busy, but it should be! Service was prompt & friendly, menu had some new items (I got the chilaquiles, yum!) and the entire facility was so, so clean. I was a little underwhelmed with the chips they brought out- but hey, they're free & I shouldn't be eating them anyway, right?- but the salsa is fresh and has some flavor. The chilaquiles had an option for red or green sauce. I asked for the spicier one, and got red. It was so flavorful, but also included fresh cayenne chiles, so hot as well. The quantity & quality of food for the price, especially on Mass St, is really something amazing! If you haven't been yet, make time to go!

This is a difficult review to write. Mexican food is my favorite. I don't think I've ever not cleaned my plate at a Mexican restaurant. Ever until my recent visit to Fiesta Cancun. One star is for exceptional service. Thank you, Carlos, for being a terrific server. You saved this restaurant from only 2 stars. Have you ever microwaved something and the ends or edges were hard? This is what I got with the cheese and onion enchiladas. In fact, the ends were so hard, I had difficulty getting my fork to cut through. The refried beans had been nuked until they were lifting at the edges. Seriously. The only salvageable food were the chips and the rice. Both of those were delicious, by the way. I brought my food home with hopes of resurrecting it later on. However, when I looked at the pile of microwaved mess, I knew it not possible. It broke my heart to throw away Mexican food, too, but I had no option. The food was terrible. Everything about the place was good but the food. The decor could use some help, though. All along the walls were murals of different celebrities. Not quite sure how this tied in to the restaurant, though. I don't think of Mexican food when I see pictures of Dolly Parton or Sylvester Stallone but whatever. This restaurant has not been open for very long. If the food does not improve... I'm not sure about the future success of this establishment.

Location: Downtown Lawrence. Mass stAmbiance: it is very nice. It isn't a fancy place but a place where you can take your family. Outdoor and indoor seating available. Inside, they have beautiful paintings of Mexican and international celebrities.Food: I am always excited about new places, especially if they are small, local, owned businesses. However, the quality of the food and execution of the dishes were very poor.Complimentary chips were greasy to the point that looked shiny. Salsa was ok. They offered us spicy sauce, which was delicious.Tacos, as you can see in the picture, are very americanized. Ground beef with blunt flavor. Chicken was more tasteful, I hate to say this. But if you like this way of making tacos, you might as well go to Taco Bell. I like Taco Bell, btw. But this place it is supposed to be about legit Mexican food and no americanized.Service: It was excellent. They even offered us additional spicy sauces In Lawrence, if you want to have a better Mexican experience with tacos, go to La Estrella or taco zone.If you want a place in Downtown Lawrence, El Molcajete is the way to go.

The experience here was awkward and the food was mid. Nothing overly impressive. We got the mix fajitas, enchiladas preferida, and chicken crunchy tacos. Maybe other stuff is better.

I went with a group of local friends who'd never eaten here and 2 said it was the best Mexican food and margarita they've had in Lawrence. It was packed so service was a little slow, but we also saw at 3 different servers running at various times. They were hustling. The only complaint (-1 star) we had was that someone/something had happened to the women's room and it was almost unusable. I don't know if that's normal or not but I hope not, because the food was delicious.

Slow service when restaurant was mostly empty. Worst "Mexican" food I have had in Lawrence. Didn't finish my meal and felt a little ill afterwards. I expected better in Lawrence!

Food was good. Service was slow, and we went on a day (100°+ outside) it seemed their ac wasn't working. Salsa was pretty good though with a bit of spice.

I gave them an extra star because the waiter was exceptionally polite and pleasant. However, the food was below average.

Excellent food except for the chips. They could have been fresher and less greasy. Good margaritas and serving sizes are big enough for two meals or people.
