Farrand Farms

Nice little nursery. I love stopping by after work. The staff is always super helpful with planting and gardening advice. Some of the bigger nurseries around town have a larger selection, but I like the prices at Farrand compared to those guys. Ironically, they would not accept my Yelp check-in coupon though.

Discovered this most amazing nursery and garden center purely by accident! Wow! My eyeballs went into overdrive upon walking into this glorious greenhouse. So, I am into plants and flowers. And by that I mean I drool at the site of a monumental hanging basket like some people ogle over a good bottle of wine. Something about the burst of colors and smells and the overall smile that flowers bring to your face is special to me. So finding this gem made my day! The prices are average to higher for some items, but the quality is far surpassed by your regular old big box store. For instance, a half dried out large fern at Home Depot will run $14.99 but a gorgeous full fern that is miraculously all green will run you $29 here so as the old adage goes, you pay for what you get I suppose! My haul consisted of two gorgeous hanging baskets (for the moms), several begonias and trailing purple beauties for my front concrete planter, some basil for my herb planter, a large cherry tomato plant (already with 50+ tomatoes on it!) and a few mixed pots for landscaping. Super happy I found this hidden gem just south of Noland Road...5 minutes from civilization!

Great place. Love the staff, love the selection.Wide selection of multiple sizes, vegetables, flowers, and perennials. I used to go a lot more when I worked closer, now it's a special trip. They do have some hard to find plants. The prices are fair and the quality is better than big boxes.

I've always loved this place and their care for you. They constantly have staff ready to assist you and help you pick out what is best for your wants and needs. Love this gem and love the Farrand family!

I have zero plant mojo. So when I tore out the bushes in front of my house I really had no idea what to do next. I had measurements of the bed. That's all. I walked into Farrand's just thinking that I would browse a little yesterday. I wandered a bit and then a woman who worked there approached to see if I needed any help. And help she did! In little over an hour we had picked out the most beautiful plants to go in the bed with beautiful colors and textures that would work well in the shade. She told me each step of what I needed to do next. Within 24 hours of walking into Farrand's, the sad, empty flower bed has been transformed. She didn't just give me help yesterday, she gave me the confidence that I could do it myself and that we'd made great decisions. I've been getting compliments on the plants, but I'm directing it all back to Farrand's. I am so grateful. BTW... this place is HUGE! And I really love that the plants are grown locally and not just shipped in from some other climate.

Farrand Farms is cool. Reason: My son and I looked all over for a purple pepper plant. We went to Farrand Farms on Noland Road, and they had plenty of them.Their staff are knowledgeable and ready to help you with all your gardening questions. Year after year (unless I'm smart and buy perennials), they provide me with the healthiest plants on the planet. I don't have a large garden, but do like to plant a few plants for fun.They also were very helpful with taking care of the apple tree my son bought, and planted in the backyard. Did I know he was going to plant an apple tree? Uh..no...but I''m a tree hugger, and love the baby apple tree. With the help of the employees, I bought tree spikes for fertilizer, and organic insecticide for the pests. I can spend hours at Farrand farms, just looking at the plants. The green house smells so fresh and the plants are fascinating. They may cost a little more, but every plant I've bought, has lived, and thrived. I think that is from the original care of the plant. Besides the large greenhouse, they sell an array of bulbs, pots, trees, shrubs, and seeds that you can't even imagine. It's fun, if not educational, to take a trip to Farrand farms, just to see the plants.

Very first visit to Farrand Farms even though I have driven by many times. My husband has become very interested in gardening so even though it was December we thought we would check it out since they were open. They had fresh Christmas trees out front and some beautiful wreaths. I didnt check out the prices since that is not what we were they for but they were really big and green! Their green house was large and totally filled with poinsettias. Absolutely gorgeous array of colors and sizes and cost. I did buy a "single" red poinsettia and got a lesson on how to water it to keep it alive. Didnt know they dont like to have their roots wet (or "feet" as she called them). Needless to say, my beautiful plant is still alive and well on my dining room table and we are well into January. They had a wood stove going, a cat in greenhouse lounging -it was very homey.I'm excited to check out this nursery in spring!

This is a beautiful garden center, almost like being on vacation. It's a destination even if you don't need to buy plants

I hate that I have to send a 1 star review but I have seen some employees caring box's and plastic to the dumpster!!!!! The DUMPSTER???? So I did some asking and they DO NOT RECYCLE!!!!! Maybe I'm wrong but shouldn't a nursery be eco friendly? Colonial gardens is very eco friendly! Come guys, we can do better!!!!!!!!!
