Wow! This park is so cool! First off, it's huge. So much room to run. A large portion of it is mowed grass, but they've done a lot of prairie landscaping and left some of the surrounding fields to work their magic. I can only imagine how pretty it is in the spring and summer. The playground consists of a huge rope climbing structure, swings, a slide, sandboxes, and a massive nature play area consisting of large rocks and logs to climb on. My daughter loved all of it! This playground would even appeal to kids who say they're too old for the park, but really know they aren't. ;)There are two covered picnic shelters. They are amazing! Since this park is a tribute to Shawnee's sister city Erfurt, Germany they are made to look like buildings in Germany. They are both good sized. One has bathrooms, a drinking fountain, and a working fireplace. The other is just tables, but still very nice. There is a long concrete trail that wraps around the park. There is also a fountain and pond. There are several drinking fountains and benches. In the winter they bring in a porta-potty for public use since the real bathrooms are closed in the off season. The only downside to this park is the lack of trees. In the summer I can only imagine how sunburned you'd get hanging out without any shade. Perhaps they will plant some or add those mesh sun screens you see at some playgrounds. If you're in the area make sure to check this place out!

This is a really great gem. If you venture into the far back left area you'll find a really thoughtful natural setup instead of the common plastic playground. Lots of space to run, lots of trail to walk, with a huge shelter for events or picnics.
