I recently moved to Emporia from Kansas City and needed a gym to join, but there was NO WAY I would sell my soul and give my information to Genesis. Luckily for me, Emporia Fitness is here, you don't have to sign a contract, and it's all of a 5 minute drive! I've only ever been there midday, so I can't speak to how busy it is during the peak hours, but I've rarely had to wait for equipment and that is perfect to me. The staff is wonderful, the gym is clean, and it's exactly what I was looking for! 10/10, I highly recommend!

I was staying in Emporia for a week for the Dynamic Discs Glass Blown Open in 2015. I am a gym rat at home and knew I would miss not being able to exercise for an entire week. I searched around and found Emporia Fitness was within a few blocks of my hotel. They had a weekly membership available for less than $20. A price that couldn't be beat, considering what I am use to in Toronto. The cardio machines were plentiful. They even had Precor AMTs, which are handsdown one of the best cardio machines available (and not easy to find in most fitness centres). The had a great circuit set-up in the front half of the building and the back was freeweights. The free wifi was amazing, and meant I could watch Netflix on the cardio machines and listen to Spotify while doing weights. When I come back to Emporia in 2016, I will be making good use of Emporia Fitness again!

A local favorite - this gym has the full range of equipment from weights to ellipticals, TRX, spin class facilities and more. They are one of the largest facilities in town and very affordable. The gym is open 7 days a week with daycare options available during certain hours. They offer a wide variety of exercise classes throughout the week including spin classes, yoga, Zumba, and many others. The full class list is on their website. I highly recommend this gym.

First off it's either there is nobody there at all in weird times of the day or it's completely packed and you can't even get a parking spot. Then if you do get in there are about 8 treadmills and they are either taken or broke. The last time I went in I switched three times because anytime I went above a speed of 5 it started making a loud squeal. There are about 10 different lifting machines and one for each workout. That's not bad. They definitely could use more. In the lifting area. There is always pretty much one of everything. If it's busy good luck following your workout plan because the benches or the weights are being used. The cables are on everybody's eye because there is of course only one of those too so as soon as one person gets off it's a race to it. They just need more room and more equipment. OH and not to mention their shitty and I mean shitty hours! They close at 9 on weekdays and Fridays it's 8 Saturday it's 8-5 and Sunday is 1-5. What the hell. Make your gym 24 hours. It's pathetic. Only thing that's good is it's cheaper than genesis.
