El Tucan Mexican Cuisine

Try cactus. They will add it to any dish. So yummy!!!! I love the mariposa. The service is great but they do get busy sometimes.

My first time at this Mexican restaurant, I will definitely be back! The waitress hearing that it was our first time walked us thru the menu. This was very helpful! She did not steer us wrong. My food was very flavorful without being overly spicy. I had the Mariposa Jalisco. The chef came to our table to ensure that we were enjoying the meal. He shared some of his history. Definitely try this location!

Wanted to leave a better review, but unfortunately it seemed to me that their menu was writing checks that the food couldn't cash. 3 stars.

Or traveling to the area and stopped in to Odessa Missouri. We were in a liquor store and ask him to find El Tuscan restaurant.... He has a directions from Yelp, but it took us in the middle of town. We talked to a local who told us where it was but then he got into a disagreement with another local who told us we should be going to El Camino Real.... we went to El Tucan and did an order to go. I had the queso Birria tacos, which were amazing with rice and beans chips and salsa. My husband had a combo taco tostada enchilada. That was really good. The restaurant was super clean super friendly staff and I wish we lived closer because they have once a month a tequila at food pairing menu but I'm sure is awesome and we would really enjoy. So for you locals out there get back over there and check out their tequila tasting menu.!!!!!

We visited the new El Tucan in Odessa MO last night as they have just opened for business. We really enjoyed the authentic food that is being served. The margaritas were fantastic and the food is so fresh. It is a large colorful restaurant, and they are still building their serving staff having only been open a few days. There was a wait for tables on a Saturday evening, but it was well worth the wait. My wife ordered the Tacos Callejeros (sp?) street tacos and I got an old favorite, Mariposa Jalisco. Chips and salsa are provided prior to the meal and refilled by the staff (we did not order appetizers this visit).Her Tacos Callejeros, were 5 street style tacos with fresh onions and cilantro served with their tomatillo salsa and soupy beans. She got the chicken, but it also can be ordered with the carne asada.My Mariposa Jalisco is a spicy dish consisting of pounded pork (also can be ordered with chicken or steak) covered in oaxaca cheese, onions, mushrooms and the tomatillo salsa. It is served with a sides, of rice, soupy beans, pico and guac with a choice of flour or corn tortillas.Both meals were quite generous and take out boxes were needed for the left overs. You can't go wrong with the Sopapillas or Tres Leches cake for desert! Everyone here was so kind, polite, and courteous. ** Don't trust the GPS to get you there though (we did see quite a bit of Odessa while looking), stay on the outer road heading east and you will find them across the street from the Subway.

My daughter and I absolutely love this place!! So fresh and great service. The food is fabulous !

From the service to the food it was all lacking. Salsa with no favor and nothing but liquid. All of our dishes didn't leave us wanting to come back. A little salt would go a long way! Also I don't like going to a restaurants only to have to wear my coat because it's so cold.

The food here is amazing. Great service and price. Has the combo fajitas which had chicken, steak and shrimp. There was enough to share for sure

100% yes! This place is an amazing Mexican restaurant 'Sergio and Vanessa are the owners and are husband and wife. They are from from Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco Mexico. In case you don't know, in Jalisco they have some of the best Mexican food in all of Mexico and these folks are the real deal. Ask me how I know Good Mexican food? I grew up in LA and worked in E Los Angeles ....say no more. I had one of the dishes that was recommended by Samantha, a nice young lady whose sister Jennifer also works here. They both also speak Spanish (although English is primary) I told her to surprise me it was between that and the street tacos and she brought me the Mariposa Jalisco fixed with pollo(chix) and it was absolutely delicious. Next time I'll try the street street tacos or whatever they recommend....honestly I would just tell 'Sergio to surprise me.Come on down, you will not be disappointed

Absolutely delicious food! Freshly prepared starting with the chips and dip that is so flavorful. The entrees were prepared with good tasting fluffy rice and seasoned perfectly. We ordered a grilled steak dinner and an El Tucan Burrito dinner. We both agree we'll come back for more. Although we were stuffed, the the Tres Leches dessert is the perfect ending to such a perfect meal! So good!
