El taco

After completing a Northeast Arts crawl, I wanted to stay in the area and have a late afternoon meal. El Taco was one of the few Mexican restaurants on the Avenue that I had not tried. I had skipped it in the past primarily because it looks like a fast-food chain from the street. I pleasantly discovered that it was not a chain, reasonably fast, and more authentic than I expected. I chose a pastor taco ($2.39) and asada gorditas ($4.99) both had plenty of meat and toppings. The gordita shell was a large thick corn masa tortilla grilled and stuffed with meat, refried beans, lettuce, onions, crema... A hot greasy meaty masterpiece. I realized that I don't have enough gorditas in my life, so I may have found my new temporary obsession. Staff was cheerful and efficient and dining area was clean, although no public restrooms.

Authentic chipotle!! We work close by, so we get lunch here often! All of the meat is yummy- my favorite is al pastor. I love the bowl or the quesadilla!! Definitely worth checking out!

El taco was delicious. Just what I'd hoped for authentic tacos with a drive through. I had carne Asada tacos. They came with cilantro. I got the green salsa. Tacos were inexpensive staff friendly ind fast. I also have no problems with my food allergies ( fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts & pork)

El Taco is the finest establishment my wife and I have eaten at. The food is top notch and the people are the best.

STAY AWAY!!!!! I just came and ordered a veggie burrito in the drive-through. The drive-through menu clearly states "includes guacamole" on the veggie burrito. When I got home I found that the burrito did not have guacamole on it. So I drove it back. I told the girl that the veggie burrito did not have guacamole on it. She says you have to specify that. I Told her that I could take a picture of the menu and show it to her where it says includes guacamole. She said I know what the menu says but you have to specify guacamole. I said I don't really need to fight about this I just want the guacamole. So I drove up to the window. She then told me that they now claimed that they put guacamole on the burrito. I handed it to her and told her that she could see for herself that it does not have guacamole on it. She grabbed the burrito, threw it in the trash, and said you're not getting anything. I said fine give me my money back. She said no you're not getting anything. She then left and came back in a while and told me that she called the manager and the manager said that he could not give me my money back. They took my money and then they took back the burrito over a scoop of guacamole. That's not just horrible, sleazy business- that's illegal.
