We saw this place had just opened and were excited for a new Mexican place in town. I LOVE authentic Mexican food, so I was so happy when I saw some delicious birria tacos. The service was great overall. More of a modern Mexican place but definitely authentic. - Skinny margarita (4.5/5): we got a pitcher for $30, so a bit pricey but so good! The fresh lime was delicious, with salted tajin rim. And the agave was perfect, not too sweet. So good!- Birria tacos (5/5): AMAZING, incredibly delicious. Perfectly crispy, yummy dipping sauce, salsa verde. So yummy, must try. It was like $16 but they do give you 4 tacos

I'm here on a Tuesday night in February with an early spring in the air... why this place isn't packed, I just don't know! I enjoyed the El Jefe & it was as tasty as it was visually exciting! As an infrequent traveler, I stumbled on this place while looking for a different restaurant that was closed, and I'm glad it was! El Rey was fun and tasty. The staff was pleasant and playful, which matched the atmosphere and food!Go here and have fun, while enjoying food that will do the Lambada in your mouth!

We came here when another place was closed and glad we did. It's brand new, only opened for a week. Service was great, owner came out to talk to us, food was excellent. Great place to watch games, eat, drink, have fun. I had Flacos Steak bites, served with potatoes (so good) & Mexican street corn. We also had El Rey Arroz (rice, chicken, steak and shrimps, hot queso) that my husband liked even more.Good chips and salsa, beers on tap and bottle and bar. Try it out!

Best place ever I've eaten so far here in Missouri. I've been here twice now and I'll always crave for their Chile relleno and BEST michilada. They also have good service. Definitely my GO TO place here in Columbia, MO

It's hot as hell with zero air flow in this place! I couldn't get out of there soon enough. Maybe I'll try it again sometime in the winter ‍

Very cool place! Love the open air concept. Really enjoyed the cheese dip & guacamole Mexicano! Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. Definitely a solid Mexican choice.

AWESOME Mexican food in downtown Columbia. Great vibe, priced right, Margaritas were on point, and they stay open until LATE with Latin Night until 1 AM LATE Friday night (Regatón) and Saturday night (Salsa). The Enchiladas were tasty with great carne asada and my husband had the Pollo Parilla and loved it. Dessert Churros were YUMMY too. The owner is also super kind and friendly.

We went here for dinner and for the second time the server tried to up sell us on our order like we were buying a used Toyota Corolla at the local used car dealership.Even after multiple attempts to tell her we just wanted two medium margaritas, she kept turning to my girlfriend and pressuring her to buy a pitcher because it was cheaper. When asked how big the mediums were, she gestured to what we found out was the small and said that it was the medium. My girlfriend caved and ordered an absurdly large pitcher that, as it turns out, was not cheaper then the mediums.Annoyed, I instantly asked for the check. When she brought the check out she hovered nearby staring at the pad clearly trying to add pressure to leave a tip. Literally staring at her while she wrote on the check. Strange.On top of that absolute nonsense, the food is extremely average and wildly overpriced and I'm not convinced there was even liquor in those margaritas. Just go buy some El Paso taco kits and a fifth of tequila and save yourself from an awkward dining experience where the end result is average food you could outdo at home.

This place is awful. No service to speak of. Took 40 min to get food order( because there was a mizzo order - whatever that means). Went thought rounds of drinks and all the appetizers and then I had to talk to the manager/ whoever was there he host to get our order to go after 2 hours. Definitely not sit someone who wants food. Drinks and appetizers sure. Never going back. Ciao
