El Puerto

El Puerto in Pleasant Hill is a quaint hometown Mexican restaurant that, unfortunately, didn't meet our expectations. While they do fun things for birthdays and the deep-fried tacos were enjoyable, our overall experience was disappointing.I've visited this place around 10-12 times with coworkers, and unfortunately, I've noticed significant inconsistencies in both the food quality and service. Earlier on in our visits, while everyone else seemed to be enjoying the place, I couldn't ignore the fact that the chips tasted like old grease.Additionally, our most recent lunch experience was far from pleasant. We felt ignored and believe we may have upset the staff when we requested to sit away from the door to avoid the cold air. This lack of attention and inconsistency in service left us feeling frustrated and unwelcome.While I don't like to be negative, I have to be honest - El Puerto fell short of our expectations, and I have no desire to return.

Everything and Everyone is Amazing! Feels like home. They even have Dos Equis Negro beer on tap in frozen mugs!

Being inside the service is great the people are nice food is great dinning out my food was cold I was sitting in the restaurant although watched multiple other walk in pick up walk in after and get out before me maybe they forgot my order still was cold.

Enjoyed the food. Quick friendly service. Clean. Great Margaritas.Took a meal home too.

Terrible from the moment we walked in. Hostess didn't even use words with just held up her fingers to confirm our party number. No hello. No smile even. No "follow me" just took off around the corner at a clip that was almost hard to keep up with. After being seated our server gruffly asked what we wanted to drink. Water. He clearly wasn't impressed with our selection. Took him over 15 minutes to come back and take our order. Actual kitchen service was quick if incomplete. I didn't receive the appetizer that had been ordered. The chips were on the verge of going stale and the chicken in my tacos, while the flavor was good, was overcooked. Oh, and I wasn't asked if I wanted crispy or soft shells. Pretty standard question. Good thing I like either. Took twice as long to get the bill. Once we did it was slapped down on the table with no instruction as to whether we paid him or took our bill to a register. He never came back around to pick it up so we took it to a register. No one came there so we had to flag down another server to get the bill paid. Unbelievable. Will never go back.

I have only eaten here twice in the past as everything on the plate was the same color brown. Nothing green, yellow or red. It was just ok. It's difficult to mess up Mexican food. Atmosphere was ok. Seems to be always busy so it must be better and popular. I need to give them a try again. TBD

Great family restaurant, fun environment and friendly staff. The food is delicious and comes out hot. This is our go to place for lunch or dinner. Chile verde or tacos are my favorite but the fajitas are also amazing! Low carb margs available too!

We were in town visiting some family, and got in late and needed a bite to eat. We are from California were there is a lot of great mexican food, so we came in with low expectations. To our suprise, this spot was really good! One member of our party doesnt care too much for mexican food & was impressed at how solid this place was! I got the quesadilla fajitas (excellent), the member who isnt a mexican food fan got the pollo hawaiian dish (not the name but it had pineapples in it) - she was the first one finished, another got the fajitas. Great food, healthy portions, friendly & fast service. I will definitely come back here when I visit again.

In town for a wrestling tournament and needed to catch a late dinner. The sangria margarita was aAmazing and the fajitas were good as well. My wife had the burrito and it was pretty good as well. The food came out fast and our server was on top of everything.

Update.....It took about a week and some medications but I finally got over it.
