El Maguey

3 new dishes that I love: Fried chicken salad. It has "San Jose" sauce that is a reddish-cheesy sauce that packs a punch of heat. I loved this salad! The fried chicken was just chicken tenders but the sauce was definitely the star of this dish. Will get again. Burrito Banderas: several kinds of meat with three sauces. It was terrific!Fajita taco salad: this thing is a monster! It has Queso cheese sauce, options for different kinds of meat, and all kinds of veggies. If you can't make a decision, just get this because it has everything!

We were on our road trip and since we love to drive around we ended up finding this place on Yelp in the very late night.They were almost closed so we didn't have time to look at the menu for a long time so we ordered whatever came out first on the menu. We had burrito in some white cheese sauce and tacos with shrimps in that same sauce. Overall not bad, it was tasty but nothing special. Shrimps were seasoned perfectly and cooked just as it should be. I love to find these kind of spots just out of the nowhere and I am glad we stopped by this place. I belive that there is much better options to try in here. Service was fast. He looked like he is in a rush and not very happy that we came in but I believe it was just the end of the day. Ambience was pretty nice. Restaurant was pretty full when we arrived and all seemed to have fun. Hope we will have some chances in the future to visit this place.

Went to the new location in Saint Joseph,Mo. on the North Belt. Is it a requirement to dislike helping the customer at this location? Waiter took the order and disappeared, never seen him again. Not one person came to the table and we had to find the manager on duty to get the check. Now I know why it was so dead in there at 1:40 on a Saturday afternoon. Has to be the rudest group I've experienced. Never again.

Ordered thru Grub Hub. Ordered chicken quesadilla and cheese dip. Order arrived. NO topings for quesadilla! Cheese dip came with NO chips! Called manager and was told dips don't come with chips! You have to order and pay for chips separately! Who does that??

This establishment is definitely not trying stop the spread of coronavirus. We came late on a Monday night to a mostly empty restaurant. Staff set the very few guests in the restaurant right next to each other. When we politely asked to be seated further away because of COVID-19 concerns we were told by the host, "We're not required to seat guests 6ft apart and if you don't like it you can leave." Even though most of the restaurant was empty. The other staff seemed to look at us like they agreed and management didn't give a damn. Also, half the staff were wearing masks down around their chins. I use to come to this restaurant with my mother before she passed away and it's sad El Maguey seem not to care at all about the health of their guests.

Service is top notch!! Not to mention the food is fabulous!! Super nice staff!! A must visit!!

This review is on the newest restaurant and this was my second try so am being fair as I wrote the first time off as being newly opened. just ate there for second time, ordered chicken fajitas. they came on a dinner plate instead of the skillet with the side plate, which made them about half as much as they have served for years. I had taken about 3 bites and upon putting it into my mouth felt the hair. The waiter saw me pulling it out of my mouth (he was the person that ran the cash register) he came over I had the hair on my fork. hHe asked me if it is long hair I said yes, he then said we have no woman working in kitchen (a woman with long hair had just brought us our chips and dip and queso dip). I was only 3 bites in and he just walked off with his assumption that it was my hair. Watched daughter eat her meal as I was done except for a few pieces of chicken from my daughter. She had Poblano pasta. Pasta was very very runny. The chicken was Really good. Grandson ordered juice and it was soured orange juice. We paid and went on our way. Will continue eating at Mid Belt and South Belt but will not visit the new one again (which is annoying as I live in Savannah)

Usually get take-out from this location. It is reliable and good-never had any issues and they get the food prepared very quickly. Price is reasonable and they do a good amount of business so the food is fresh and not stale.
