Okay, I honestly don't understand how there are multiple locations for this chain. I give it 3 stars because the service was okay, and it was clean. I had like an enchilada and taco, and neither impressed me. The enchilada sauce tasted like someone poured on a can of Mexican tomato sauce, literally. The taco meat had no seasoning. I think the food was literally better at Casa Bonita in Denver. No, I will not be recommending to anyone. Not if I respect them anyway. Sorry.

On the suggestion/recommendation of friends and family we decided to take El Maguey for a test drive. The interior is pleasantly subdued and we didn't have to wait to be seated at a comfortable booth. Our server got the job done albeit without personality or any attentiveness during the meal. We decided to share the shrimp fajita and it was delicious if light on the flour tortillas. We found the unavailability of black beans mysterious as El Maguey is at least the third Mexican restaurant in the area we've visited with the same answer to our request - "no". The complimentary chips were stale but the salsa was just right. Overall this was more of an underwhelming experience than anything. Had the chips and service matched the fajita it would be a stellar review. Sadly it did not. If you are ok with mediocre service and jonesing for Mexican you might just like El Maguey. At least more than we did. Pro tip: They add a 3% surcharge for non-cash payments.

Our server was incredibly rude and acted like we were a total inconvenience. When asked if we could get chips for our to-go cheese dip - he snatched up the dip and stormed off. When I tried to give him my card, to pay for our meal, he didn't even look at me and just said "you can pay up there" and walked away from the table. My coworkers and I come here after a busy day at work to unwind and have a good time. Not to be treated like we are a bother. Food here is bad, and service is way worse. It was like the employees wanted us to leave as soon as we got there. Never came by to check in, food took forever to come out and the server gave us dirty looks the whole time we were eating. The restaurant is also not clean at all, probably because everyone is standing around staring at their phones. Never coming back again, go literally anywhere else.
