This shop has so much more than it's exterior let's on. The front room is a garden center, but as you go in there are different rooms with all sorts of books, decor, jewelry, and handmade items. It's a fun place to look around, pick up some sage, or get something quirky for your home. Though I did find the prices of some items to be a little high.

I was drawn in by the $1 per stem flower booth in the back of their shop. I asked the vendor how much it was and he said $11 for what I picked out. It was my first time there so I asked where to pay and followed directions into the front of the shop. There were sooooo many cool things inside, I was bummed I was on a budget this week because I could've done some damage to my bank account in there!! I handed my flowers over to pay to a nice lady at the front with long black hair, and she handed it over to a man with dirty blonde colored facial hair, a hat, curly hair, and a heavier build. He rang me up almost $16 and I asked if that was correct because each stem was $1 and the guy outside counted $11 worth. He said "yeah well he doesn't know anything so......" and asked me for payment. I paid, went home and counted my stems, and there were 11. Not going back.

This was my favorite store until today. They have so many cute/funny items and a great plant selection, plus I love supporting local businesses. However, it was a busy Saturday (as to be expected) and unfortunately the man at the register, you know, with the man-bun, was having a bad day. We had just made our purchases and as I turned around to leave with my young children in tow he says "move the f*** out of the way" loud enough for me to hear him very clearly. I know he was referring to myself and my family as he stared ahead at the line. I would've loved to "move the f*** out of the way" but sometimes it takes my three year old a moment. Please note, this was immediately following me saying "have a great day!". I told my husband after we left and he went back in to get the guys name. Of course, as expected, he refused. He then said he "would never" and "would not dignify it". Of course you can't, you lack zero dignity to begin with. I hope your day gets better, miserable bun-man.p.s. there are several books on kindness and meditation that are for sale there, you should read a page or two.

I wanted to spend so much time here, but, alas... I first started poking around at this end of the Rivermarket because I saw all the live plants but when I saw the prices I backed off because things were easily 50-100% more than other places I've been. As I went further into this shop I was really into it. Fun things to buy for yourself or give as gifts! I wondered how they ever do an inventory of this place there are SO. MANY. THINGS. The only thing you have to watch out for are the prices. As in the nursery section, some prices were way high. But great fun.

I've been here a few times over the years and had positive experiences, but I've been twice in the last week and the customer service has been pretty horrible. On the first occasion, a man followed me around the store as though I was going to steal something. At the time, I thought he was a customer but from reading other reviews, I now realize he was security and was following me around because I was the only brown person in the store. On the same visit, my husband said that the blonde cashier (not the one with long straight hair) was just staring him down with a dirty look.Anyway, on our second visit in the same week, the same blonde cashier was very rude once again and looked at us as like "wtf are you doing here?" like we weren't supposed to be in there. I'm not sure what her issue is with us but I suspect it is racially motivated. I read some other reviews and noticed others have mentioned experiencing racial profiling while in this store. I wish I hadn't spent so much money here, and am definitely going to find a place with friendlier customer service.

The selection is great. Last year I bought a merman statue that was almost two feet tall and I was able to carry him onto my flight home. Here are a few photos I took. I just wish the giant five foot merman was a little cheaper. Definitely thought about buying Bigfoot too. I love checking this place out! It definitely has unique items! Service is never an issue.

I got screamed at by the owner for taking flowers that they put out each week for free, and when I say screamed that is an understatement. She absolutely had a meltdown, calling me a thief and smacked the flowers out of my hand. Everyone from my office has gotten the free flowers and have had a bad experience with her.

Was just at this store, employee with the man bun, ripped a necklace i had just paid for out of my hands because he thought i was stealing. My boyfriend wanted to know what the problem was and the employee said "it's none of your fucking business" then he proceeded to push him into a shelf, my boyfriend tried to defend himself and the employee tried to swing at him making him drop his camera. the amount of unprofessionalism i just experienced is crazy. waiting for a call back from the manager to work this out. I will repost if they take down my review.

During my most recent visit to Dutch flowers I was not pleased. I arrived on a Saturday morning as they were opening. A nice person was unlocking the locks around the plants and flowers. Upon entering an employee was pushing a cart and he barked at me and said "Are you coming in or out." As I was clearly trying to enter the store. Then I said. As you can see I am walking forward. So then he took his hands off the cart he was pushing and put his hands on me and to not touch me so then the EMPLOYEE AT DUTCH FLOWERS CALLED Me A RETARD and a Ni**ER! Then the owner of Dutch Flowers came outside and pointed her finger in my face and I told her to get her finger out of my face. I had gone to this store for over ten years now. But after being called a Retard and a Ni**er I will never return to this store. I do not support businesses that allow their employees to make comments on a person's 'disabilities' and racial slurs and making fun of a person's ethic background by calling them such a word is terrible. I contacted security and the administrative staff that oversees the security and this issue has been made known. Please consider where you shop. If you don't like to be physically and verbally assaulted I suggest that you do not shop at Dutch Flowers. It's twenty twenty four no one should be fearful to go shopping for flowers and plants. That should never be a traumatizing experience.
