Downtown Grill

We drove to Fredonia Ks on our way to Olathe from Las Vegas NV. Absolutely worth the effort. Great staff and friendly customers. If you don't try the Rory Burger you're a vegan. The house made Ron's Carolina Style BBQ sauce is a great addition to the Rory.

This is an oasis in a Desert! Though small and intimate, it is a welcoming and friendly place! Food and service is wonderful! Highly recommend! We have been traveling a lot lately and have eaten a lot of lousy food. This place was very refreshing and delicious. We met Captain Kirk who was from California, was living a few miles up the road from Fredonia, soon building a hose in Grove OK on Grand lake. Was an all around great experience

Exceeded my expectations. My daughter had a great burger lunch - classic American fare. The owner chef made me a vegetarian stir fry over brown rice. Delicious. The chef and counter help were both very friendly and attentive. A great lunch experience. I look forward to coming back.

Fresh food, great service. The place is literally 8 feet wide and like a hallway but pull up a stool. The staff can't miss you as it is so small but they check on you a lot which is nice. They all seem to know the locals but interact w everyone. We got some salads and some burgers. The burgers were fresh and hot. The fries were not crisp but were ok. The cokes were crazy laden in crushed ice but they kept topping them off so was all good. Cute town and decent business.

Love this place. Nicest people, all! This, paired with delicious food and great service made this the perfect place to stop for lunch on a hot summer day as we head across southeast Kansas. As a special bonus, we sampled then purchased a quart of the most delicious homemade bread and butter pickles. The lady that puts them up grows the cucumbers and spices herself. I feel like I just one the pickles and nice people lottery!

Great atmosphere full of local chatter. Small one bar seating. Chef greeted everyone with a smile and sent you off with a full belly and well wishes.

This is an old school little diner where you sit right at the counter and watch Rory prepare your meal. We ordered the philly cheese steak and the Reuben, with the hand cut fries. The food was delicious and so was the hospitality. The Downtown Grill is located on the town square next to a museum, so it's a nice road trip stop...much better than fast food at an exit. There are also a few tables out under the trees that looked inviting, if the day weren't hot. Cash only.

On our way back home to Arkansas and wanted to have breakfast. Always looking for local out of the way places and saw this place on Yelp but hadn't had a review in 2 years. Thought it may be closed but decided to stop anyway. So glad we did. A great breakfast. Had the Western Omelet and my wife had a half order of Barber Special (Loaded hashbrowns). Will absolutely stop here again.

Traveling through town stopped for lunch. I had a Ruben with cheese curds very good. I have eaten Reuben sandwiches in many places. This ranks in the top of the list. Service was great waitress Susan was very friendly. Along with the dine counter atmosphere this was a great stop.

Rory's spot is fantastic. Great burgers, fries and service. My go to spot in town. Try Rory's Burger. It's top notch!!!
