This fitness center is part of the St. Luke's Hospital Center for Health Enhancement network. It's located on the 4th floor of the Commerce Trust building. If you live or work in one of the nearby towers and have wondered about those basketball and tennis courts on top of the downtown CVS, that's this place. It's a small fitness center, but that's one of the things I like about it. It's easy to get lost or intimidated by the super-sized facilities. Here you see the same people every day and get to know them, and that helps a lot with feeling comfortable working out regardless of your physical condition, abilities, or limitations.Though it's small and does get busy at times (especially at lunchtime), there usually isn't much of a wait for anything except sometimes the treadmills. Cardio equipment includes treadmills, stationary bikes, stair climbers, and ellipticals. Strength training includes free weights as well as a variety of strength training machines. I've found everything here that I used to use at my previous mega-center.The outdoor portion of the facility includes a track, basketball courts, and tennis courts. There's also easy access to the street, so many members take a jog or run as part of their routine.Membership is $40/month and includes free personal training sessions / fitness consultations and free or reduced price participation in a number of classes and motivational programs throughout the year. Additionally the center offers basketball tournaments and monthly chair massage sessions. The locker rooms are nice, carpeted, and well maintained. There are free guest lockers, or you can rent a permanent locker for an additional $5/month. The showers are private. (There is sometimes a short wait at lunchtime, especially during basketball league season, so allow a few extra minutes.)The hours are 6am-7pm Monday thru Friday. That's my only real complaint about the place -- I'd be able to get more regular use from it if it were open an hour longer in the evening and had at least a few hours on Saturday.
