Dos Tequilas KC

You know, I feel for Dos Tequilas. Their food was perfectly adequate and the margs looked nice. That said, you can't find them on Google Maps, there was NOBODY inside during the dinner hour when we visited, and half of the space had the lights off. I'm surprised with how residential Shawnee is that there weren't more people there. You do have to walk down quite a few stairs, so not sure if they have an elevator but that's a bit of a problem. Otherwise, it's in a reasonable area of town and a place I could see myself visiting if i'm over there. They just need a little help with advertising themselves and getting the word out. I think they should also do away with their "salad" and just provide the normal Mexican sides (lettuce, tomato, cheese, beans, sour cream) with all of their dishes. I hope they do okay!

Pretty good new spot! Glad for another restaurant option in downtown Shawnee and we were pleased with the food. Also a good spot to watch the game with a few TVs and a large projector screen. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and were happy to share some dipping sauce options: green and garlic on the non-spicy end, and a garlic habanero and red on the spicy end. We LOVED the garlic and garlic habanero sauces so I recommend you try them.Perhaps more notably, I thoroughly enjoyed the quesadilla. I love chorizo when it's done well and I was impressed with theirs. The combination of chorizo and bell pepper flavors was really good. Enjoyed the rice and beans with it as well. 20 oz draft beer options and the margaritas are good too (they even have a non-alcoholic margarita option!)It's not a very large space so I'll be curious to see how full it is on weekends/during Chiefs games, but I plan to come back!

My opening week dine-in lunch experience was okay overall with good service and good food and drink specials, but with some food issues.My burrito lunch special ($8.00) included a large burrito, beans and rice. It was served 16 minutes after I ordered at the table in a plastic basket with plastic utensils and included complimentary chips, salsa (that tasted somewhat bitter and off), salsa verde and garlic sauce.The burrito contained a few red and green pepper slices and a good portion of ground beef, which was seasoned (only?) with salt, and plenty of it - yuck. The generous portions of rice and beans were both delicious.The seating area was divided into two areas. They were clean and freshly redecorated with a full bar, three TVs tuned to sports channels and one large screen projector TV. Background sound came from the TVs.Overall, A-OK with room for improvement in the kitchen.

I was very excited to try this place - Shawnee needs a Mexican restaurant with a patio! We went in - be prepared for stairs! - and waited for several minutes. No one came to seat us so we thought maybe we seat ourselves so we walked into the restaurant and then second guessed ourselves and went back to the hostess stand. We were about to leave when someone noticed we were there and we were seated. This is definitely a sports bar that serves Mexican food moreso than a Mexican restaurant. We received chips and salsa. It's a small amount of salsa but it wasn't very good so that's ok. We ordered cheese dip. It was good! I had the chimichanga. It was decent but VERY salty. I ate every bite with the rice to cut the salt. The rice is good. I had pinto beans as well which were also good! My partner had the enchiladas. I've never seen enchiladas like this. It came in what was almost an "au jus" - very liquidly. He said they were also very salty. The waitress was very nice and attentive once we sat down.

Stopped in for taco Tuesday. Worst street tacos ever. The carnitas (pork) was very dry and tough. They don't have hard shell tacos. Not sure what the refried beans were seasoned with but the taste was not good. Service was good but, I was the only one there. The dining area was very clean as were the bathrooms. No hot water in the bathroom makes me wonder if they had any in the kitchen. There are too many good Mexican restaurants in the area to warrant me ever revisiting.

Decided to try a new place since we were in a different part of town. The salsa flavor wasn't good. Burrito overly greasy. The pinto bean flavor and consistency was off. Service was good nice and attentive.

I've had nothing but good service and good food. Been here 2x. Service is well attentive and the food is really good. I hope they can add a salad selection in the future. The street tacos are yummy and fresh. The salsa is to die for.

We travel around the world and like adding reviews of where we eat. This place was not impressive at all. The food was like warm, taste like it is from a can. There was 4 of us and only 1 liked their food. I sent mine back. The drinks were not good. Unless they revamp their menu, food quality and drinks, I don't see them making it. We had high hopes but will not be back

Ordered a margarita. Served in a beer glass. Asked for frozen. Not so. Taste was also a bit off. Nachos were just ok. Probably would not go back.

OMG! Food? La Mega Torta Carnitas is outrageously delicious!Service? The staff are cheerful and instantly make this cozy spot feel like you should go out of your way to become a regular customer!Ambiance? I dare you not to walk down the stairs and not go directly to the bar to drink a fresh, crisp draft beer!I am selling my house in Tennessee and moving to the neighborhood just so I can hang out here everyday!
