We came here during a visit to KC and wanted something nearby that was outdoors for the kids to run around and get some energy out. First, there is plenty of parking. Next, it is not that big or overwhelming, so you see the whole place in a couple of hours - perfect for a morning or afternoon-only activity. This is ideal for people with toddlers. It is also neat and well-maintained.There were a lot of interactive and educational activities. We learned about bison - heck I learned a lot about bison. Lots of stuff to climb on and there were the obligatory tractor tricycles. My son in particular did laps for 20 minutes. There is also a snack shop area for when the kids get hangry.

We picked Deanna Rose to host our 4 year olds birthday party and I couldn't have been happier. From start to finish it was easy and great. They had carts to help us bring stuff into our designated area. They had workers ready to guide us and help with any questions. It was great bringing in our own food and drink and then letting the kids go and roam the farm. It was sure better than trying to keep them all rounded up in one area. Will say it only works if their parents also stay. The farm is always clean and welcoming for guests. Never had a bad experience with anyone working there. Always around and friendly to guests. Looking forward to more visits over the years.

Always a wonderful experience. I keep coming back time and time again, since my young adolescent years to now, being a childless young adult. Deanna Rose is a great place to pet animals, walk around, and enjoy the outdoors on a nice day. The park itself is not too large, you can make a loop quite quickly, but it is large enough for families and kids to play and explore. You can fish, pet baby goats, mine for crystals/geodes, and more! There is also a spot to grab food, drinks, and ice cream!

While on our Mother/Daughter trip we tried to hit all the fun spots along the way. Driving far with two girls (one who had never road tripped) it provided them and us time to stretch our legs. This place was such fun! We all enjoyed walking around checking out the exhibits and the stores. We were able to food the goats and enjoy the weather that day. If you're traveling through with kids make it a stop for sure! You'll be glad you did!

Deanna Rose is really for parents with young children. It's not a stop I would recommend otherwise. But for those that do have kids like me, it can be a great experience for them. With animals, fishing areas, goat feeding, and plenty of educational moments, it's an inexpensive way to make some memories with the kids. Be sure to bring hats and sunscreen during the summer though as there isn't a ton of shade on the farm. You can see more of our experience on our YouTube travel channel: https://youtu.be/fxYtm4DJeUA

I've been wanting to visit the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead for almost a year now. Being still new-ish to Kansas I didn't know places like the farmstead are seasonal and so had to wait this long , until the weather warmed up again. Reading other reviews, which spoke of super long lines to buy tickets, I purchased ours on the website, a very reasonably priced $5.00 for ages 3+. FPO and I arrived around mid-day on a hot to pretty much everyone but us day. Sunny, with a few clouds, and a nice breeze. We saw there were only a couple of people in line (I think because there's a youth sporting complex next door and everyone was over there). There were sidewalk chalk drawings on the way in. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We got a map and set out to explore. Going to the right we saw an old timey school house, a young apple orchard (the trees are about three feet high at the moment), and then found the mine where you can buy a small bag of "mineral rough" for $6.00 and sift for gemstones from around the world in an old fashioned sluice. It was a lot more fun and therapeutic than I would have thought.Next there was a dairy barn, a Kanza Indian encampment, a Pygmy goat bottle feeding pen ($1 a bottle). They've got hand washing stations located around the place that were much appreciated by me after bottle feeding the goats. I loved how the workers told us to, "try to make it to the middle of pen before feeding the goats". They weren't kidding. Those goats all had a powerful thirst going on. There's also a fishing shack and pond we didn't get to try. We visited the blacksmith's shop (briefly as there were wasps) and the general store. I would guess we saw about two thirds of the farmstead before deciding we were hungry, but not for the hotdogs, burgers, and such available there. We do need to go back, before the end of the season to see the rest. I want to see the koi pond, the butterfly gardens, the prairie dogs and birds of prey, and I want to go on the wagon ride. I wouldn't mind sifting for more gemstones either. Lol. This is a lot of fun, outdoors, for a reasonable price.

I'm not surprised Deanna Rose is a five-star attraction! We were first timers, visiting family friends from out of town, and they highly recommended this spot. Upon arrival, you can immediately tell that families thrive here. The facility is pretty vast, hosting tons of farm animals (some you can interact with), butterfly gardens, nature trails, a one-room school house, and event a Native American display. So much hands on learning here! I can only imagine that this is a hot-spot for field trips from local schools. We had four kids with us exploring on a Friday morning and they we're ecstatic! Different from a zoo, you can truly get up close with the animals here, so it feels really involved. My son absolutely loved feeding the goats (I think it was $1/bottle of milk). In addition to the animals, there are multiple playgrounds, plenty concessions throughout (created to look like and old-western town), a pond to fish in, tractors to ride, and apparently a splash pad! I'm sure there is more that we didn't have time to discover. The grounds are very well-kept, the parking is easy, the bathrooms are clean, and the staff are friendly. Win, win, win!

Looking for Christmas lights in the comfort of your car? Look no further. My three toddlers absolutely LOVED the Holiday Lights. We came on a Sunday night about 6pm with a "picnic" style dinner that we prepared. Driving in, there were no lines and we just found a spot in the parking lot. We tuned into 90.5. FM on the radio, unstrapped the kids and brought them to our laps and enjoyed the show as we ate dinner. The whole thing lasts about 45 minutes which was the perfect length. The show loops so cars left as they finished listening to the whole line up and we slowly inched forward. Great selection of Christmas music and we all know how much the kids love Frozen and the adults love the Chiefs. ;)
