So, my knowledge of dance supply stores is admittedly nil, but the service I got today was exceptional. My four year-old decided last week that he wanted to do a dance class, and I came here to get the ballet shoes and tap shoes we needed. Beyond color and my son's size, I knew NOTHING about what I was looking for. Athena was AMAZINGLY helpful and, best of all, very patient when I didn't know exactly what we needed (and when Little Man wanted to try out the tap shoes immediately). Dance Shoppe now has a loyal customer for as long as my little guy is taking dance classes!

First time at this dance shop today and will definitely be a repeat customer. We weren't in the store but a couple of minutes and were already approached by a store associate who helped my daughter get fitted and into the right shoes for her ballet class. She was very friendly, kind and knowledgeable. She was also quick which is great considering I had brought my infant and son with us. The store itself is on the small side but clean and organized. The prices are probably a little higher than what you can find online but you're paying for personal service and they also start a file for you with your dancers shoe information so you have that to reference any time you return to the shop. Overall I would definitely recommend if your dancer needs shoes or any dancewear and accessories.

We have been going to the Dance Shoppe for a number of years now. Every single visit no matter who is helping is has been stellar. The place is small & cramped but clean. They have everything you need for any type of dance. Pointe shoes are hard to fit as well as hard to find places that will sew your strings on but Dance Shoppe will, right in the back. So, I always tell them please sew those puppies on. There are a wide variety of leotards for everyone's budget which is so awesome because I always don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on dance gear. There is a long laundry list of items that my daughter wants from this store so please continue to have sales & items priced at various price point, my wallet thanks you.One time my daughter needed a new dance bag. I looked around and as I always do look for sale & clearance items. Well, I found one! It was perfect for her. great color, enough pockets, she loved it. I took it to the register to ask why was it on clearance & he showed me the area that need attention & I thought ok I still want it. I can just take it some where to have that part sewn back shut or something. He just walked away. moments later he returned with the bag & had sewn it up for me for NO extra charge! WOW...So, now it's not a clearance item correct? of course it is, he said. We stand by our pricing & the products we sell. Well thank you! This is just one of the reasons I continue to go back. Customer service is EVERYTHING to me.

This is the first time I have ever reviewed a business, but this shop was so amazing that I had to comment. First of all, I am not a small woman and typically hate going to dance shops because they only have clothes for children and women who are small. However, at this shop, I was able to find leotards and tights in plus sizes! They also supply of shoes and accessories as well as clothing. The selection is vast and they stock multiple items of each size. The two women that were there and helped me were so friendly and helpful that I am looking forward to returning. They helped me find what I needed and then when I had questions they were knowledgeable and very kind. They even offered to contact one of their distributers and ask if they would make some plus size skirts as well as create a specific style for me, but didn't make me on place a special order. Their reasoning was that if I wanted a bigger thigh length chiffon ballet skirt, others probably would as well. Since I attend KU and live in Lawrence, Dance Shoppe is a bit of a hike to get to, but well worth it and I will absolutely be making the trip again. I would suggest Dance Shoppe to anyone who needs dance wear. There is no need to do what I did and go to all of the different shops in the Kansas City area, which the sizing and selection can be depressing. Dance Shoppe caters to all shapes, from the "typical" ballerina to more of a curvy dancer.
