Country Cafe - Winston

I wish I had taken a picture of my tenderloin. I've never eaten an entire tenderloin but this wasn't all bulk, it was more flavor, form over fashion if you will. Noshed. Every. Bite. Seriously, this sandwich is worth the drive. The place is clean, as a whistle, it's another one of those dive joints that start in a gas station and you can sense the food magic in the air. We were on our way out of town, but But I wanted to stop and get lunch here because I I stumbled across the reviews while on Yelp earlier in the week. I didn't get any of the baked goods, but they looked homemade and delicious. Like I said, we're in a hurry so I ordered my tenderloin and tater tots to go and eat in the car and it was fantastic!If you're on your way up north, or heading into town from Iowa definitely pull over and eat at this joint and then leave them. I'm excited to try this again with something already told a couple people about it! I didn't take a picture because I was so hungry, but you can bet I will next time I'll update this review!

#45-2021FIRST THING TO KNOW THIS IS NOT THE RED BIRD DINER ANYMORE IT HAS NOT BEEN THAT WAY FOR A YEAR.THIS IS THE COUNTRY CAFE LOCATED IN THE TREXMART TRAVEL CENTER.THEY HAVE FOUR LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE NORTHEAST MISSOURI AREA.HERE AT WINSTON, LATHROP, FILLMORE, AND TRACY. IT IS THE SAME LOCATION IN THE SAME TRAVEL STOP WHERE THE REDBIRD ONCE WASsmall town North of Kansas City where most are located the Trexx fuel centers now operate their own restaurants. like all the other ones they are open Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. holiday hours may vary.this location has been many things through the years began as one of the old Texaco truck stops off of Interstate 35 always retained the restaurant.old fashioned country cooking stick to your ribs kind of meals nothing really fancy or elaborate most people don't want that around here especially the locals this is farmland they just want food with substance they have a nice choice on the menu. one thing you find in Northern Missouri and Southern Iowa are the pork tenderloin sandwiches as big as a hubcap.I came in noticed just not only did they remodel it but they changed the name was very clean for an older facility. Wanting some breakfast had a traditional eggs bacon hash browns and toast it was prepared the way I liked it eggs over medium bacon hash browns not crispy and sourdough toast very good. waitress came checked on everything make sure coffee was full no complaints at all.nice stop even for travelers on the road for decent home cooked meal.all in all it's you make it in and get parking if you're a truck driver and to get a decent meal still. they do share the bathroom with the travel plaza and it's only a one horse stall because it's a very old building they're talking about possibly getting a new building and tearing the old one down but as of right now March of 2021 that has not happened

Food was made from scratch and staff were friendly. All of us enjoyed our breakfast food. They brought it out when right when it was ready. All food items were very hot. Definitely stop if you're looking to be impressed.

"Country Cafe" is the name and right off of the interstate in the Trex gas station. Nice lady and the hamburger is hand made double patty and very tasty. The French fries are hand cut and freshly cooked! The service was fast and very pleasant. Will visit again when ever back out this way.

Amazing every time. Very friendly as well, great customer service. Always have a good, solid meal when I come here. It's a regular spot. Good go to.

Spending way too much time on the road, its always good to find a small, uncrowded, unassuming eatery like the Redbird Diner. I found this place completely by accident, while looking for breakfast that would not disappoint me.It doesn't get any more low-key and unpretentious than this place, yet the food is comfortably good, service is very good and the patrons, mostly locals, were friendly.This place is definitely a roadside hidden treasure!!

We both loved the giant tenderloin sandwich. Big as a hub cap, and crispy & tender. The hand cut fries really stand out. Wife had the brisket sandwich, but really didn't care for it (it happens sometimes), and manager didn't hesitate to get her the tenderloin. Staff were quite friendly. Quick service.

Excellent food at a great price! Definitely worth the stop on our trip north.

Outstanding small town diner right off 35. Was not busy for the dinner rush and had great, friendly service. Food was good priced and was amazing. Most dinners came with the choice of 2 sides which were large portions and tasty

Is now Country Cafe, looks like it was updated recently. Breakfast was very good, served hot. Service was friendly and quick. Very basic, nothing fancy and easy access from the highway. Would recommend hanging a few pictures on the walls.
