Joining City Gym has been the best experience ever. Im talking the friendliest people, excellent trainers like Justine, exciting and challenging classes with the membership, great equipment and a very helpful app. I've belonged to MANY gyms over the years and this is hands down my favorite.

City Gym is perfect if you're looking for a place to work out that is: clean, inclusive, not too big or small, and has everything needed for strength and cardio training. Their gender neutral bathrooms and private showers are wonderful, and the equipment is always clean and in working order. The staff is super friendly and the patrons are all respectful of the space and each other. Parking is a breeze out back. The only thing missing (for some) from this gym might be a pool/sauna and a track.

City Gym is great. I always get a great workout at all of their classes, and the instructors constantly push you to reach your maximum potential. The classes can be a little crowded at times but I am hoping that the new expansion will alleviate that problem. I cannot say enough great things about this gym. The staff is super, and they are also very involved in the community.

Last year, after cancelling my membership at a local boxing gym due to changes in management, I was anxious and uncertain about joining a new gym. I had a routine and knew what to expect at my old gym, and stepping into City Gym seemed pretty daunting. I did the 7 day free trial and was introduced to barre, spinning and more. It only took me 5 of the 7 days to be sure that I wanted to become a member and a year later I have no regrets. City Gym offers such a wide variety of different classes and there are so many class times that it makes it easy to incorporate classes into my schedule. I regularly attend Jenny's TRX Circuit classes 2-3 times every week and the City FIT (Functional Interval Training) and Strength 360 classes as well. Every trainer/staff member I have come across has made me feel more than welcome and the facilities are really top notch. The layout is functional, clean and the showers/lockers are more than sufficient. I live and work about 20-25min away (depending on time of day) and I still make the drive out to City Gym 4-5 times every week because I love it so much.

I went in to try the "sweaty barre" class and was immediately welcomed at the front desk. I was given a 7-day pass to try the gym and other classes all week long. I thought that was a very generous gesture for new clients. She said I was lucky because there was only 1 spot left in the class I wanted to attend. There ended up being 2 people waiting outside the classroom, and they ended up getting in because 2 were no-shows.I am a fan of classes. I like boot camps, cycling, pilates, and barre classes. City gym is the only gym near me that offers ALL of those options. The front desk greeter showed me around the gym. There are personal "suites" that includes restrooms, showers, sinks, so that you can have your privacy while you are changing. I like that better than locker rooms. They offer lockers, but no lock service, as I have seen at other gyms. I did notice they have towel service (bath and sweat towels), and all the equipment you need for classes is provided. The sweaty barre class was really fun. It was half-barre and half-HIIT. Right up my alley. I got a great workout and the instructor was fun and energetic. I also felt sore the next day, which is a plus for me. If I don't feel sore, then I feel like it wasn't worth my time. This class was great. A+ for it.The sign-up process for classes isn't my favorite, but it seems to work. The classes are "open" for sign up online the day before the class starts at 6AM, and only half of the spots can be filled. So, for instance, I wanted to take the 7:45AM cycle class on Saturday. On Friday half the spots are available online. The other half of the class is open for walk-ins as early as 1 hour before the class. The employee I spoke with suggested I get there early to ensure I get in.I took the cycle class on Sunday with Chris. I was right, it's awesome! Probably one of the best cycle classes around. They play music videos and turn the lights down. It's hot in there, but I like it that way. Chris was a great instructor. He was kind of hard to hear sometimes because the music was loud, but it wasn't a problem. I also preferred the music loud anyway. The spin bikes are really nice too! That is always a plus. I must've burned 700 calories. Seriously. I would return for that spin class as it's the BEST in the area that I've found so far.

Love this place! I just recently moved to the area and City Gym has become my new home away from home. There is a very thoughtful and noticeable culture that makes you feel welcome. The facility is always clean, the staff is super friendly and the classes are amazing!

City Gym is my favorite gym I've ever visited. Located in the heart of Waldo, you can easily see The Well patio while running on the treadmill. Every single one of the instructors, trainers and staff members at City Gym wants you to succeed and will go to great lengths to make this happen. Each of the instructors will challenge you to push beyond your comfort zone and make the changes you envision a reality. City Gym hosts programs like "90 to New Year" and "No Muffin Top May" to encourage you to make a lifestyle change, not a fad diet or quick fix. You will learn how to make your daily life a healthy and happy one. City Gym is so much more than a gym, it is a supportive community that is there to challenge and encourage you, while you reach your goals and create healthy habits.

One of the best gyms I have been to. Sadly, I had to move to Overland Park, and the drive was too far. I still regret not being a member everyday. There are traditional equipment along (bench press, squat rack, free weights, etc) with some you wouldn't expect (i,e. jungle gym and running tarp). They have wonderful classes such as James's 360 Strength and Jenny's TRX class as well as popular spinning classes .Once you enter, the vibe is homely, supportive, and refreshing. The staff is super nice, and even made sure that I was signed up for the TRX classes so I wouldn't miss my spot. You can sign up online for classes or once you arrive. Certain classes do fill up, but they do their best to accommodate you. There is plenty of parking in the back parking lot. Due to some processing error, I didn't get charged for two months. I wasn't aware as I had not been to the gym much in the summer. The front lady attendant looked into the matter and talked to the owner. They didn't even charge me for those 2 months even though I would've gladly paid. Talk about amazing ownership. The owner and staff are very supportive of the community in general (whether it is pet fundraisers, prenatal workshops, equal rights for everyone, etc).

The vibe is inclusive. The staff is attentive. The facility is beautiful. It's a gym that lets you know you're welcome, and that judgements are best left outside. People are there to get healthy, and the staff is absolutely engaged in that. I've been a member of a few different gyms/health clubs. While I miss having a track to run on, the treadmills are fine, and offer a nice view of Wornall for your traffic-and-pedestrian-watching pleasure. While I haven't signed up for any classes, preferring doing my own thing, the variety offered is certainly impressive.Extra points for superb changing rooms and showers!
