Lights in the park

First time at Christmas in the Park and I really enjoyed it! Yes the line is long but if you know that in advance you can prepare- bring hot chocolate, turn on a Christmas playlist, etc. The displays here are a bit dated but I believe that's what makes them so unique- you won't see something like this anywhere else. At first the displays are very spread out but once you get further in, there are displays every direction you look. Such a neat experience! At the end they do have collectors asking for donations.

Okay so let me start this out by saying we had been to the Winter Magic one 1st & we were so unimpressed with the long line (edit for clarity the long line at this one because we had sped through the other one)I get it. It's free. The line is going to be long. I almost gave up several times because the line was so long. DON'T TURN AROUND!!! KEEP PRESSING TO THE LIGHTS! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!This was a beautiful display of lights. I was so impressed by the dedication and the design. I'm already planning another trip out here because my grandbaby went to sleep before he got to see the lights. He has GOT to see these lights. They are spectacular. I truly love this display and am upset (with myself) that this is the 33rd year of them doing them & I'm just now witnessing them.

This is an old-school, festive tradition in Lee's Summit, and one I hadn't experienced until 2019. We caught word of a night bike ride before Thanksgiving where you could slowly ride your way through and get the first look at Christmas in the Park. I think the best way to see something is by foot or by bike so you can take it in, and this was no exception. The organized ride itself was put together well and there were a lot of people out on an above-average weather night for late November. Now I have to shoot straight and say the displays are fun, but it's not necessarily magical or can't-miss by any stretch. The main area where you circle around is both the main attraction and the finale all at once. It's not huge, but there are a lot of throwback displays all in this one area.I would lean more towards the Plaza Lights and the ambiance they create than to hopping in the car and joining the line for this one. It does put you in the holiday spirit and is fun to do just because it's there, but I can't see this as something I feel like I HAVE to do every year. It's totally geared towards kiddos so I think they'd get a kick out of it, provided the lines aren't too long.

Christmas in the Park. It sounds like magical display of lights, however, there's always a line whenever we go here. We went super early when it was about to open and the line was already long to the gate. We waited 1 1/2 hours to finally reach the lights attraction. If you don't like waiting, this place may not be suitable for your liking. Also, please make sure to go to the restroom before you come here. The lights is pretty and bright and it's been over 30 years they have been doing this. They have new displays this year and it's pretty once you have see all the lights and go around in a circle. Donation is accepted here. Thank you Jackson County!

Pulled up to the Park last night around 7:00pm last night and oh boy was that a mistake the line had to be about 3 miles long literally waited in line for a little over an hour before actually hitting the entrance to the park, but me and the kids were determined to make it happen. Now the park itself while waiting in the line they have a couple teasers which weren't bad they give you a little preview to at least at the most keep you occupied while waiting. Myself I turned some Christmas music on and really tried to catch a vibe with the kids while waiting in line tried to make the experience worth it while waiting. Once we finally hit the entrance they did have a pretty cool 33rd year cake at the entrance to celebrate their 33rd year of lights in the park. The drive around the park felt short, but long at the same time we really took our time going through the park and caught the whole experience. Their were so many lights tied together that you really had to take your time to witness it and reel it all in. I know my kids stood out the sunroof and really enjoyed the experience overall. I really enjoyed it myself while listening to my own Christmas music really took the moment to just enjoy the park itself with no phone and just enjoy the time we had. I really liked how they tied in different light displays all around the park. For it being free I really can't say much bad about it. They do accept donations at the end of the display if your in the mood for giving. I'm happy my kids got the chance to experience the park they loved it!

Big fan of looking at lights around Christmas-time, but these left a lot to be desired. You will wait, and wait, and wait, and wait to get into the display. When we first arrived, we thought the line SEEMED long. THEN, we saw a sign that said "2 hour wait from this point." You get the point. You'll likely wait 3 or 4 times as long in the bumper-to-bumper line of cars than you'll actually spend in the park (Which is also a bumper-to-bumper line of cars).Whatever you do, DO NOT GET IN LINE BEHIND A BUS OR RV!!!The displays are great, but if you can only see straight out the sides of your car, and can't see forwards, your night is going to be miserable. The lights were decent. Tons of displays and no real theme. The main disappointment with this was that the displays are all packed so closely together because of how small the park is. You'll MAYBE spend 30 minutes in the park, and you can basically see everything the second you enter the park. I'm a fan of more traditional lights, but if you like LED lights, this might be more up your alley. Fun themes, bright lights, but very crammed together. You're also forced to go through the toll-booth style "donation" stop before you leave. Definitely DOES NOT feel like a donation when they stop you and walk up to your window.

It's a tradition that I'm very excited to finally get to start with my own family and it's always fun and cute. Grab some hot chocolate turn on Christmas songs and ride around with the family, your spouse or friends and it's a wonderful experience.

Last night we got there at 5:30pm. We had to wait in line on 435 highway for 25 mins before we could take exit 5. There was a long line before us and I am sure even longer behind us, and this on the highway ? very dangerous...Vehicles were coming from many other roads and merging into The main lane ie the bike lane, was total chaotic. Took us 2.5 hours to get to the main display area from exit 5Over all, it took us 5 hours from time we left home and returned. The display was ok, but not worth the time and effort. And was too tiring. Also the radio station 99.7 did not work, I even downloaded the radio.com app for it, still could not play it. The plaza and crown center lights are much better and easily accessible.

We had a small bus of people from nursing home that our church wanted to bring to see the lights but the line was so long and took over and hour wait and we still had not reached the gate, this was not a good experience if the line is so long that you cannot even enjoy the christmas lights if you make it to the display. Very disappointed in taking the time to travel from Liberty to Lees summit and not even reach the gate! I understand it's free but you would think it would be better organized or find another solution to these long lines? Wouldn't recommend- instead go to Christmas lights at arrowhead stadium and you can park at end and take kids to have hot chocolate and fun games toward end before you exit!!! It's worth $20 that took literally maybe 30 mins!!
