Ribs plus burnt ends equal happy tummies. Drove from out hotel near the Kansas City airport and enjoyed the backroads. Adorable town, decorated for Christmas in November. Loved it, like a Hallmark movie.Onto the food. Platter for two plus the fried corn appetizer. Amazing. Way too much food, but we managed to make a dent and got two large rolls and the left over meat for lunch the next day along with some of the super BBQ sauce. Staff delightful and a super comfortable and casual dining experience.Forget downtown KC and take a drive to Smithville.

Chops BBQ is a solid spot for barbecue lovers who enjoy no-frills, down-to-earth dining. Located in a casual setting, it specializes in classic smoked meats and traditional sides. The interior may not be the most modern or upscale, but it makes up for it with its hearty portions and comforting, flavorful dishes. The star of the menu is the meat. Whether you're ordering brisket, ribs, pulled pork, or smoked sausage, the BBQ is tender, well-seasoned, and smoked to perfection. The bark on the brisket is a highlight, offering that crispy, caramelized texture, while the ribs typically fall off the bone with just the right amount of smokiness.Service is usually quick and friendly, making it a good spot for a laid-back meal.

What a fun place.I love how its walls are decorated with barbecue trophies and drawings created by the restaurant's diners.Come hungry - the food is served filling portions. It's really good, too.I enjoyed my burnt ends sandwich. The ends were perfectly smoked - tender, full of flavor and enhanced with a small dab of Chops BBQ bold sauce. The onion rings were fried to perfection - piping hot and crunchy.

Wow - fantastic! Cute little place right on historic Main St. Friendly staff, and amazing BBQ! Started out with some spicy fried pickles, then a half rack of tender, fall off the bone ribs. Friends had pulled pork that they said was great, too. Add this place to your must stop list for some good eats outside the city!

We saw Chops had 4+ stars, and told my sister it was just because they're the only BBQ place for 20 miles. She said, "awwweee, it's pretty good."She was right. I was wrong. Chops rocks. I've added Chops to my Best BBQ in the Northland list. We got the huge $99 Everything Platter - all the meats, with four sides and devoured it! (but couldn't finish it - leftovers!)Here's the thing, everyone at my table had a different favorite. Brisket, sausage, turkey, ribs, burnt ends, ham - all noted. Even the sides were a notch better than we expected. So huge. So good. So impressed. Nice work Smithville BBQ!I'll be back!

Sweet tea is authentic and service is friendly and prompt. All tables covered with brown paper that you can draw on with crayons and they have "table art" posted everywhere - cool idea. Despite having a lot of awards hanging up, the pulled pork tasted like roasted pork with no smoke flavor to speak of. Seemed like it had a little bark but maybe from their rub and roasting. The bold BBQ sauce they have is good, but BBQ meat should be able to stand on its own flavor if it's offered on the menu. I struggled to find any meat in the "brisket baked beans" - appeared to be canned Bush's beans with something giving a hint of smokiness. Nice little spot in the downtown area, but needs some flavor on the meat especially for a 14.99 BBQ sandwich and side.

My son and I were in town for a disc golf tournament and found this wonderful place for lunch. Ordered the Haagenslaw and LOVED every bit. Nice and smokey pulled pork and the slaw was not too sweet. My son says the sweet potato fries were the best he has ever had. Server was very nice and pretty sure the owners were who greeted us with a big welcome when we came through the door. Sat outside and enjoyed this very cute downtown area with a bunch of fun shops.

Best pulled pork EVER!! If you love lean, tender, moist, and flavorful pulled pork, this is your go to BBQ place. Chops' own bake beans recipe includes chunks of burnt ends....need I say more? Don't get me started about the burnt ends! Three choices of homemade BBQ sauce, including one that brings the heat. AND much more...... Chops BBQ restaurant is a quaint little place near Smithville Lake with a "down home" friendly staff and great service. They also have outdoor seating. Our compliments to Chops BBQ and Catering pitmaster....no wonder KC is so famous for BBQ.
