Chinese Chef Inn

It's was dirty, some of the chicken was so over cooked you couldn't cut. The bananas were mushy and over ripe. And then when I went to pay, they were only taking cash. I had to go to an atm and withdraw from my debit card which cost me $5. The lunch buffet totaled $10.81 which wasn't worth it and an extra five on top.

Springfield style chicken!!! Where else near Nevada, Missouri will you find Springfield style chicken? Enjoyed a huge variety of chicken and vegetables on the buffet. What a way to go!! Totally a family friendly eatery with lots of parking, seating, and selection.Make sure you bring cash as they do not accept checks or cards.

Seriously I only wish this was where I lived because nothing compares to this for miles around! The building is clean and decorated casually. But the buffet it's always very fresh and all entrees are delicious. But my fave is their perfect Springfield cashew chicken. Very fresh tasting chicken with perfect seasoning. And the portions are big enough to provide a great leftover meal. Owners and staff are an additional perk because of professionalism and courtesy. Don't hesitate at all to check this Nevada jewel!

Food here is really good always fresh and hot. They always has losts of room to sit and is really clean. People are very friendly and always smiling and glad you came. I will always come for good Chinese food.

The food is ok our waitress was great. But when she was conversing with us her boss jolleted from across the room at her for talking to us to long. He followed her into kitchen. When she came back out she was very upset. We apologized for keeping her she said he cut her hours because of the talking. Needless to say we will not return to that restaurant. I don't care where you are from you don't treat your employees like that.

Cash or check only I discovered when I handed the cashier my card. The food is bland, has no flavor and tasted like if came out of a can. The wait staff seemed harried and overwhelmed. We ordered pop, it was bad and when asked for another drink, we were told the drinks were being poured from 2 liter bottles and that's why they were flat.

We found a 2-3" metal thread in a dish. We told them of the findings. Was told by the "manager " that it was from the dish scrubber. No apology. Was completely disgusted by this. Still had to pay for the meal. NEVER going back.

This places food is amazing and I've been a customer since '99, so why 1 star? Well they've been closed for over a year now, claimed to be reopening 9 months ago and since then radio silence. If they opened today, I would be there, they would have a 5 star. I truly truly truly miss this Nevada, Missouri staple. Just reopen....

My favorite place to eat in Nevada. They have the standard buffet menu which is always fresh and hot. There are plenty of choices for those that don't care for Chinese food. The Springfield cashew chicken is delicious. In fact, the only thing I don't like is their hot and sour soup. It's made without tofu and mushrooms and isn't really hot (spicy) or sour. Chinese Chef is usually quite busy. Everything is very clean. The service is great. On a side note, buy something to drink (tea, cola, etc.) because Nevada's water is terrible.
