I do so love having this Asian grocer available downtown! They have an incredible amount of options stored under one roof. The shelves are stocked basically floor to ceiling. They have tons of seasonings, sauces, instant noodle dishes, drinks, and canned items. They also have a decently sized produce area with fruits & veg you won't be able to find elsewhere (gai lan, dragon fruit, daikon radish, jackfruit, etc.), but all of the produce is wrapped in plastic. This is a great place to busy reasonably priced tofu in the downtown area. They have a large fish market (you will instantly know from the smell when you walk in), and it's great to have a place to buy seafood downtown. One thing about Chinatown Food Market is that you would be hard pressed to find an accurate price for anything on the shelves besides produce. This makes it hard to compare different options, but I have yet to purchase anything that has been outrageously priced. They do have a small parking lot (which is unusual and incredible in the Rivermarket area), but it is guaranteed to be full on the weekends. If you stop by on a weeknight, you have a good chance of snagging a box. Bring your own reusable bag! They charge for plastic bags. They also have boxes at the exit to carry your stuff out to your car.

Great place to shop for, seasonings, tea, produce, seafood, all different types of Ramen and so much more. I stopped in to get chili oil, garlic and a few other things. Only dislike is that no all of the price tags are on the products. Also the smell is not pleasant due to the fresh seafood in the back, it also appears to be bigger than what it appears to be. Parking isn't the greatest so prepare accordingly, I definitely recommend coming here even if it's just to look around. Definitely recommend

Typical Chinese grocery store. Stopped by to check it out and while here, picked up some stuff. I didn't noticed until I got to the hotel, but they the casher over scanned an item. Basically charged me for the item 3x when I only got two items. I went back the next morning to either get the package that I was charged for or get a refund... well, the store was closed because they were doing construction work on the front door. I wasn't gonna wait around, just check your receipt before you leave the place.

This is a convenient store located right off one of the downtown Kansas City streetcar stops. Minus 1 star only because there are a lot of products without prices listed. This store has pretty much everything I look for in an Asian supermarket, from sweets to condiments to savory items and produce. I bought an entire bag full of items (including alcohol) for under $45.

I always love stopping in Chinatown Market. The number one reason is to stock-up on Mr. Browns cans of iced coffee, imported from Taiwan. The 8oz cans of flavored and sweetened coffee are the perfect caffeine boost to grab and go if I'm running late for work or as a late afternoon jolt at work. Thank you Mr. Brown for our 25 year relationship! The other reasons I love shopping here are varied. It's the perfect spot when you are wanting to create an Asian meal and need those hard to find noodles, sauces or spices. My Korean dishes I prepared for the 2018 winter Olympics party would never have came to fruition without Chinatowns endless shelves of imported items. Shear novelty is also a great reason to shop. I have stuffed many a Xmas stocking for family or birthday gift boxes with cool little Asian candies and treats that amuse the recipient with flavors and packaging not found at CVS or Hy-Vee. The honeydew melon hard candies are the best! I've also bought multiple items that I've given as door prizes at house parties I've hosted over the years. The jar of fermented duck eggs that a co-worker walked away with over a decade ago is still frequently mentioned with amusement. Find your own reason; ignore the fish smell and take home something unique and new to experience. It's a great place to break out of the same old routine.

So glad this place is here. We now live about 10min from here and it's sooooooo convenient compared to our old address and needing to drive 30min to a different market.I do wish they had more "freshly prepared" items like bbq pork and some fresh food vendors, but not complaining

We visit here every time we come down to River Market and always end up buying something! The store has a good selection of most things, mainly dry goods but has fresh produce and seafood too. The store is definitely smaller than you think and pretty cramped inside. This mixed with the seafood department, does make the store have a distinct smell most times. They definitely update their stock and rotate new items in the store. They usually have some fresh bakery goods near the front of the store but it is a pretty minimal selection. In the middle is a cooler with a ton of cold drink options. Staff seems to be friendly enough too. I used to get Hite Extra Cold - a Korean beer here but have not seen it for some time. This is the only place in the metro that I know of that even sells it so I do hope they get it again sometime. Overall, Chinatown Food Market is always fun to shop at and has a pretty decent selection. It is not as good as 888 International Market, but considering the size and even having this option, it is a great international market.

I wanted so badly to like this store. I lived in NYC for 20 years and I'm very familiar with Chinatown and Asian markets. The products had been on the shelves for quite a while... Some were dusty. And everything was overpriced. The employees were lovely and super helpful but I would not go back.
