Best Philly cheesesteak in Kansas City?Chartroose has been a favorite of mine for years. So much that I had their Philly after every childbirth. It was my comfort food. Nothing beats that flavorful meat, melted cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms. I always add on jalapeños and tiger sauce to level it up. Not a Philly cheesesteak fan they have other great menu items from burgers, salads and even bowls.

I love me some Chartroose Caboose. I was surprised to see how low they are rated but at the same time I'm not. I think of them the same way I think of a small town divey bar or diner. It's greasy. It's old. You're not coming for atmosphere or entertainment. Instead you just want a great cheesesteak and fries. And the food is definitely the star. I love the Katy. It's just basic steak and cheese. I do like to add mushrooms. You can also opt for chicken instead of steak. And they do have toppings in the back-lettuce, tomato, etc. but you do have to ask at the counter. We asked for the tiger cry sauce. It's some sort of mayo horseradish concoction that goes great on the Philly or for fry dipping. The cheesesteaks are decent sized. You'll definitely be full. The bread is amazing. Super soft and delicious. The meat is juicy. The cheese plentiful. I don't know what's not to like. The fries are also delicious. They are crispy and thick cut. When the meat and cheese and whatever else you loaded onto your sandwich inevitably falls out and onto the tray below onto your fries, don't fear! The fries make the perfect vehicle to scoop any missed goodness into your pie hole without becoming a soggy mess. Definitely don't overlook them if you're searching for a tasting cheesesteak.

Overpriced & underwhelming. Clocking in at $18.26 for a Firechief combo, I expected something solid; the Philly itself was massive but the handful of fries and fountain soda, which leaks while your fill your cup, made for a poor experience. The atmosphere is strange. Half the restaurant is standard seating with the other half dedicated to various pinball machines and additional seating. If anyone is playing one of these machines, good luck having a conversation! Service was standard; nothing special but nothing outstanding either. 3 stars for a good cheesesteak; would recommend taking to-go.

I've been eating here for probably twenty ish years, if not longer . The super chief has always been my favorite, and never disappoints. Steak, cheese, onion, mushroom, and peppers! Add on some fries, side of cheese, and side of tiger sauce and I'm a happy camper. Ignore the bad reviews, they're not accurate.

We absolutely love this place and our daughter does too! The staff is very friendly and have suggestive sale. The food is delicious I love our chief Philly cheesesteak! More meat then bread, creamy cheese, onion and peppers are crisp and full of flavor. The seating you have multiple options such as relaxing and comfortable or common and practical. We will be returning and thank you for such an amazing lunch! And most definitely need to have their cheese sauce is mouth watering

Food is always amazing, portions have gotten smaller over the years but with liberal economics what do you expect.

For years, this place was a great cheesesteak place. Haven't been here in a few years - and tonight - such a disappointment - no need to go back. Generally so lousy, I didn't even bother to get a pic of the disappointing Zyphyr cheesesteak. .Cheese: pretty non-existent. .Meat flavor: not the classic taste at all. Paprika 'ish, undesirable seasoned meat. .Peppers: non-existent and/or flavorless. Did have some onion. .Best part of the meal: the pre-fab mozzarella sticks. Tasted like Sonic cheese Sticks. .Back to the "what's lousy" theme: the marinara dipping sauce provided. Did I say lousy? Yeah, lousy is a polite term.

Always delicious! Make sure to get the Tiger sauce. The French fries are the bomb too.

I've been coming there for 40 years and today was disappointing to say the least .Dry sandwich and bad fries. I loved this place , but just can't do it . RIP Chartroose
