I found an inclusive space for LGBTQ people here. Not only have folks been friendly and outgoing, but this church has an active ministry in helping others in the community.

Highly motivated with backroom politics. Ran by those with money. This church may appear friendly upfront and on the outside...but beware. The only redeeming staff is the secretary and food pantry director...they have beauty in their hearts. The remaining staff is self serving.

What a wonderful church this is. I might just stop there, but i know you yelpers want more. So here is why, if i were in KC, this would be high on my list. They know who they are. This is smaller multi-generational congregation that feels like a family. An unapologetically progressive and welcoming family, mind you, but a family nonetheless. Pastor Heidi it thoughtful, personable and you can tell is loved by and loves this group of folks who gather together. This church oh so reminds me of the church of my youth, filled with people who yearn for the church to be relevant and energized. Also check out the many community programs that they offer out of their GORGEOUS facility.I was able to spend worship with them and it is a pretty standard traditional service with meaningful prayers a wonderful energy about them. If you are looking for a techno-emergenty kind of experience this is not the place, but if you want a warm, generous community add Central Presbyterian to your short list.DISCLAIMER:Yes, I give every church FIVE STARS not because every church is superfantablous, but every church that I will review can certainly be a FIVER to someone. I will never review a church that I would not be willing to try myself if I were looking. No need to bad mouth freaky-scary churches because they are uh, well, freaky and scary.

Having been raised Catholic, I found myself at age 50 unable to remain part of that faith. Fortunately for me, Central Presbyterian Church filled the spiritual void which had existed inside of me for many years. This Church was welcoming from the first Sunday I attended worship. The message of service to community and openness was clear and fully supported by action. I love our mission through the food pantry serving many households in need. And have I mentioned our congregation? We are small in numbers but so active in keeping Central vital and progressive. If you seek a welcoming place to hear God's word in a non-judgmental way visit us one Sunday. I did and it has enriched my life.

I found Central Pres on the internet in 2014, when I went looking for a church family in midtown, with 1) outreach in the neighborhood, 2) a loving, diverse, welcoming and inclusive congregation, and 3) a pastor who preaches sermons scripturally based, but relevant now. I found my home and family here. After almost 15 months of pandemic online worship on Facebook, we returned to in person worship yesterday. Even with masks, it was a joyful family reunion of about 35-40 of us, from all over the Kansas City metro area.

I am a Project Manager for Baxter Mechanical Contractors and we have taken care of the HVAC systems for Central Presbyterian since 2008. We also take care of several other churches in the Kansas City Metropolitan area and Central Presbyterian is one of the best to work for. They are very dedicated and committed to taking care of their church and the community around them. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend for you to stop in and check them out.

I've been a member for more than 10 years. I appreciate many things about the church, including its preaching, its music ministry and its commitment to supporting non-profits throughout Kansas City. I have not had the experience that Kevin mentions. I certainly am not one of those with money yet I have never felt excluded or marginalized. You know, churches are made of people and people are typically less than perfect. There can be missteps. But there is way more good here than bad. A lot of people find real community. And an unwavering Christian focus.
