I happened to stop in with friends after visiting a nearby bakery. I'm so glad I did!This market has about everything you need to create a fantastic meal! Everything looked fresh and they had a great selection of Italian food....and, at a super reasonable price. Definitely stop in here

From their impressive wine selection to their delicious rice balls, every visit feels like a delightful culinary adventure.One of my favorite things about Carollo's is their cheese counter, where I can find the only fresh pecorino romano in town. Their selection of traditional Italian cookies is the perfect sweet treat to take home, and if you're in a hurry, their deli sandwiches make for a quick, yet satisfying lunch option. Whether you choose to eat in the market or grab it on the go, you won't be disappointed.You'll feel like family as soon as you walk in. Plus, they offer catering, which is great for any special occasion. Carollo's is truly a fantastic spot to explore and indulge in Italian cuisine. I can't recommend it enough!

We love this place for salami and pasta. We recently started sampling their sandwiches and they are quite tasty. I didn't give it five stars because the line to order and to pay is always really long and not terribly fast (we go on weekends) and seating is limited. But if you want some delicious Italian deli food, check it out!

Sure, you might pay a little more. And yes, sometimes parking is not the easiest thing to do. But if you want gourmet Italian groceries, then this is the best game in town.I've stepped up my kitchen game as I've gotten older. I tend to appreciate nuances in better olive oil, imported tomatoes, and different flavorings to add to dishes like pasta or risotto. I can find genuine, imported goods at Carollo's at prices that I'm willing to meet. The deli selection is off the chart, whether you're getting cured meats, imported cheeses, or even a sandwich to go. I tend to buy a little bit more each time so that I can have pancetta on hand in the freezer or fresh Parmesan for whenever I'm going to be making pasta, which is frequently. The space can get a little crowded, but the staff is always friendly and moves through lines quickly. Selections at the olive bar are really worth the try and if you're feeling like you need something sweet, then cannoli shells are on hand just waiting for you to fill them at home. It's an authentic, old-style grocery with everything you would need for the fresh eats. I highly recommend taking some steps up the olive oil quality ladder, because you can really tell the difference it makes in various dishes, and even as a dressing. Sure, you can order online, but that defeats the point of taking a step into an authentic Italian grocery and enjoying a small slice of Kansas City.

Everything is so fresh and worth the trip. Make sure to stop by the Olive bar and pick out a few items. Everyone working is very friendly and efficient with service. It was a piece of Sicily in Kansas City.

Carollo's grocery was a great stop to get deli meats, cheeses, and a little dessert. We were only looking to get a couple sandwiches worth of supplies. I was worried we would not be able to get just enough meat and cheese for two sandwiches, but they were understanding. The person at the counter sliced us a 1/4lb of smoked turkey and smoked gouda. We added a couple cannolis from their dessert selection when we checked out. The cannolis were great, and our sandwiches turned out amazing! The turkey and cheese both had great flavors.

I have been a lifetime customer of the City Market and have always enjoyed patronizing various vendors and stores over the years, however for some reason or another, it has taken me almost a lifetime to stop in Carollo's. Maybe a year or more ago I went in to purchase Italian Sausage as I like mixing the ground sausage for spaghetti, baking the Italian sausage roll with peppers/onions and the meatballs for subs. I must say, I enjoy the fresh, homemade sausage over store-bought any day. There's actually no comparison and since first going, I haven't looked back. Oddly, I have yet to eat a sandwich there, but it's generally plenty of customers buying them...especially at lunchtime so that's saying something. They sell an assortment of meat, sandwiches, pasta, seasonings, olive oil, desserts and other grocery items. It's a small store-front grocer, deli and meat market that has an area out front where meat is grilled for sandwiches during the warmer months. There's also patio seating to enjoy a tasty Italian sausage sub or whatever you choose. If you're in search of a local grocer to purchase fresh Italian food/groceries from this could be the answer for you. Check it out.

Love to stop by Carollo's anytime I'm in the river market. It's a quaint, well-stocked Italian grocery shop - full of everything from pasta, fresh meats and cheeses, wines, olives and more. Family-owned and very relaxed feel inside!At the deli counter, there's a good selection of sandwiches made-to-order and served with your choice of chips at checkout. The Siciliano and Napolitano (with fresh mozzarella) are my favorites. Also love to grab a small giardiniera and a canned beverage, making for a filling and delicious lunch.

Original Italian deli at its finest, been coming here for 18 years always great.. the olive bar has a good selection of delicious olives and marinated octopus witch is spectacular!!!!
