Captain D's

Decided I needed Fish and Chips for me and the wife. Drove to Captain D's on Troost. In line about 25 minutes and ordered two of the 3 Piece Fish Dinners. The hush puppies (one of our favorites) were brown in the middle and hard from being old or using old fryer grease. The fish was also hard, probably for the same reason above and there were no "cracklins" in with the fish. If I lived nearby I would have returned the food, but I came from about 25 miles away. This place should not be in business. You can't continually give out poor food product and expect to stay in business. I will say that the Captain D's in Harrisonville MO is GREAT! Likewise, I've been to the Captain D's on State Avenue in KC KS and it is very good.

Well, where do I start? I think service has definitely improved since it appears they have a new management which is a middle aged gentleman with a southern accent who doesn't put up with any slacking! However, when the cat is away the mice they do play! I went in the other evening, last Wednesday around 7:15 pm and took my daughter who was visiting for the holidays from Colorado and Captain D's was a favorite of hers from her childhood. There were 6 of us for dine in and all the chairs had been put up on the tables and needless to say they were not happy to see us. Not a word other than us providing our order was spoken. When our order was ready which took over 23 minutes a lady from the counter screamed it was ready! Also seeing as we had 6 people we all had to squeeze into one booth as the employees were all sitting around the one 8 top table playing on their phones!!

i know this does no good. I was there tonight sat in line 45 minutes. Got to the window 2 people working. 1 cooking 1 taking orders. Not sure why i went back but i won't be back again.

So very sad the inner city is still categorized as in the inner city. With good meaning the name fits. How is it you claim to make food cooked to order, signs state the building closes at 10:00 howeverIt's 9:04pm and you screaming at me in the drive-thru intercom.."WE CLOSED"!!! But your sign say, 10:00p. "Well we're closed and not serving no more food" Sad! The area was piss poor in 1995 and it's still piss poor And for that reason I prefer to travel the distance to a different area when I come to KC. One star was given ONLY due to do requirements suggested by yelp!

Captain Ds needs to take a lesson from the training book at Chik filet . Visiting from out of state , i stopped in on my way to the hospital to pick up a quick dinner to share. The service at counter was stone faced- no smile the entire time , rather long wait for food etc. no need to go to this location

My god what a great meal!!! I got the spicy battered fish, jalapeño stuffed crab, and hush puppies. All were exceptional. When I took a bite of the fish it gave me one of them movie flashbacks to when I was but a wee lad in the early 80s and dad would take me to Long John Silvers. We would order, him a cold draft blue ribbon in a glass for .25 cents and I would get the fish. Oh how I remember the deliciousness of the hot oil and saltiness of the perfectly prepared fish. If you were lucky Ol Long John Silvers would bless you with those delicious salty crunchy batter bits. My god this was exactly like that and perfect in every way. Don't even get me started on how orgasmic the hush puppies were!! I would have taken a picture but my fat @$$ ate it all it was so scrumptious!

My hush puppies were NOT completely don't.. fish was on the verge of being warm I feel it only stayed "warm" because it was hot in my car ..

If I could give a 0 star I would.. service was slow with only 2 people in line and took 30 minutes to get my order. When I got my fish sandwich and fries, it was all cold.. I ended up eating it since I was starving (horrible mistake) and then got food poisoning. Wish I would have read the reviews before trying since most have had a similar experience. Will not be going back to Captain D(ump)'s

The food is nasty now not good quality like about 15 to 10 years ago done eating there customer service sucks also no one was in line

The potatoes was old and food was blackened cooked to long took to long to get .was not a load potatoe. The slaw was good and fish was over cooked need I say more I want be back
