Canterbury Schools

My daughter was at Canterbury for about 2 years. We absolutely loved Canterbury!!! The staff was amazing with our daughter!

Our child has attended Canterbury Academy at Small Beginnings for 3 years. We started on a flexible weekly schedule in the infant program, of which the school was very accommodating. It is hard to find a school that will offer a part-time, flexible schedule for infant care! We gradually made the transition to 5 days/week and couldn't be happier with the overall friendly, down-to-earth, and supportive environment of the school and staff. They have offered open and clear communication and support during all of the uncertainties surrounding COVID in 2020 and beyond and made sure to keep families well informed of any procedural changes due to COVID, etc. The school directors and staff really care about the families at Small Beginnings and we rest easy as parents knowing how much our young child LOVES going to school there everyday.

My son attends Small Beginnings for summer camp and days he is out of his elementary school. He comes home excited about projects, playing with friends and all the animals! We credit the teachers for keeping our active kiddo not only entertained all day, but continuously learning during his breaks. Thank you all!

My daughter has been attending Canterbury for 14 months and my son now attends as well. I have loved this school from the very beginning! My daughter is always so excited to go to school and tells me all about her day when we get home. I love that she is actually learning things and enjoys it! They are definitely preparing her for kindergarten! Her teacher is the sweetest woman and obviously loves her job. The entire staff is incredible! We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here, I can't wait to see my son grow up here!

We have two kids at Small Beginnings and the school does a great job. The teachers care about the kids and the school is almost always open (they only close for major holidays -- not the minor ones, and haven't had a weather closure for several years). Our kids appear to be ahead of their friends who aren't at Small Beginnings from a basic skills perspective (counting, letters, writing, etc).I've heard some concerns about "Montessori" - and I did not know too much about Montessori prior to sending our kids to Small Beginnings, but they follow a modified Montessori program -- so anyone who would dismiss Small Beginnings as an option based on being Montessori school still should check out Small Beginnings.

If I could give them zero stars I would. My child was injured at this daycare on more than one occasion. They do not staff as required by the state.

I can't say enough about how much we love Canterbury Academy! Our children have been attending this location for 2 years and their level of care, attention, curriculum quality, and enrichment are unmatched. The director and staff are so involved and committed to helping and teaching the children and listening to the parents. It was no surprise when they handled the stress and uncertainty of the pandemic gracefully and professionally. After previous bad experiences at another daycare in the area, it was really difficult for us to trust a daycare again. Thanks to Canterbury I'm so relieved knowing my children are so well taken care of every day they are there.

My children have been coming to Canterbury Small Beginnings for over a year now. We are so impressed with our daughters learning progress (she is 4).They also have a virtual learning program that has been a tremendous help with our son who is in 1st grade. They also offer before and after school care and last year it was such a big help!We look forward to seeing our kids grow with the Canterbury Small Beginnings family.

We have been enrolled with Small Beginnings for 2.5 years and could not ask for a better environment for our daughters. Our 3 year old loves going to school and can't wait to share with us what she has learned. The teachers do a wonderful job at keeping the children engaged with circle time, songs, learning activities, and interactive play. Our daughter's imagination and vocabulary has blossomed and I know Small Beginnings has played a huge role in this. Our younger daughter started in the infant room at age 6 months, and I love seeing the familiar faces that took care of our older daughter. Every teacher has been kind, caring, and approachable for any questions we have had along the way. The administrative staff is so personable and takes the extra step to make sure every family feels welcomed. They have gone above and beyond to create a safe environment during the pandemic. Canterbury Academy at Small Beginnings has been the perfect choice for our family, and we love watching our children grow and explore here!

Small Beginnings has been great to our boys. The teachers love them and take great care of them. The administrative team are very warm and I feel comfortable asking them anything and having open conversations. Great school!
