The place has gone down hill in the last year, including high turnover of teachers. There is a core group of teachers that have been there for a while and tried to keep it going and make it better, unfortunately ownership and directors has been its downfall. They disciplined a teacher for letting us know our daughter had been injured and that the director failed to call and let us know about it. They have over booked classrooms and had to tell parents the day before their kids were due to start to find new arrangements. There is no accountability with management I do thank the teachers that looked after our kids for the care and professionalism they provided our kids we will always hold a special place for them. Thank you teachers

I have taken both of my kids here. Always a pleasure to talk to staff. They take good care of the kids and provide a report of the day via email and/or if you just ask them. Would recommend it.

We've sent our toddler here since she was 3 months old. The teachers are all fantastic and my kid enjoys going here every day. The director is very nice and good with anything extra you need for your little one (medications, having a grandparent do pick-up, etc.). It's great when my child says something that I didn't teach her, like pointing out a new color or naming an animal in a book. At 1.5 yrs old they are actually teaching her, not just keeping her placated during the day Although, with how happy she is when I pick her up every afternoon, I'm sure there's plenty of play time in there, too. They got her on a consistent napping schedule, teach/reinforce baby sign language with her, and always take the time to tell me about cute things she did that day to go along with her 'official' report card.

Please keep in mind that my child attended the first half of 2018 and was in the pre-K classroom. Things change, staff turns over, etc. Some of the staff members were very professional in their interactions with the children and the adults. Our overall experience, however, was that the school was just warehousing the kids and that the pre-k classroom staff did not have the requisite knowledge or experience to know what normal preschool behavior looks like or how to use positive reinforcement or to quietly redirect the children when undesirable behaviors occur. They tended to raise their voices and to isolate children and were extremely negative. Their negativity was reflected back in the children's behavior. Once I removed my child from this negative environment, his behavior improved by leaps and bounds. Also, they claim to have a curriculum, but the kids rarely brought papers home and did not seem to be participating in any teacher-led practice of things like writing letters and numbers. The school may generally keep your child PHYSICALLY safe during the day, but do not expect that they will help prepare your child academically, socially, or emotionally for kindergarten, In fact, be prepared for the opposite.

I love this school for my daughter! The staff and teachers are wonderful, very open and honest communication. My 2 has been exposed to so many great activities and her growth can be noticed day-by-day. I feel happy and confident dropping my daughter off every morning that she will be well taken care of.

I drive 30 min out of the way each day because I am extremely thankful for the people who are taking care of my kid and soon to be kids (3 month old is coming soon). My son has been going to Canterbury since he was 11 months old and he is now 3. After moving further north we thought we'd move him somewhere else for distance sake and it didn't even take a month before we were back at Canterbury. Thank goodness we were able to get our spot back because I don't know what I would have done if we hadn't been able to come back! All to say that I drive 30 min out of the way each day for a peace of mind. Knowing my kid is safe and loved and taken care is all that I can ask for and all they have given me all of these years! We are lucky to have a spot at Canterbury! My kid and our family love it so!

A lot of staff turnover throughout the year. There are a couple of staff there who exhibit good professional interaction with the kids, but the rest bring food in from outside (like fast food) and eat in front of the kids. That should tell you about the quality of the food. If the adults won't eat it, then should we expect the kids to eat it? Next, the director never returns emails and communication is poor from him. The facility is clean for the most part. There is no check in/out procedure of the kids and just a 4 digit code to get in the front door which then gives you access to the entire facility. I also question the curriculum and what my child is really learning. Since the facility sold to cadence, it seems to have really gone down hill and I get the impression it is really just about warehousing the kids for the money now. Given what I pay, I expect much more for my child.

My son has been at Canterbury for over a year and a half now and he loves it. The staff is always very welcoming and warming everyday. Not only does he have fun and learn everyday, he now has friends he talks about all the time.

I want to make parents aware of a situation that took place at the daycare my daughter attends. She attends Canterbury Academy at Briarcliff. On Monday I arrived to pick my daughter up and as I entered her classroom I could hear her crying from the playground. I rushed out to see what was wrong. She was at the feet of a teacher crying. The teacher was not paying attention to her. When I approached my daughter I saw her knee had been cut. I asked what had happened and the two teachers didn't know and began questioning each other if someone had went to get her a band aide. When I went inside the building to talk to the director she was busy with other unhappy parents. A teacher approached me apologizing that she had not made it out there and explained she got sidetracked with the other parents and did not make it back outside to help my daughter. Since there was so much confusion and no one seemed to know what was going on I asked to review the cameras. The director advised the process for review took too much time and she would do it in the morning with me. She avoided my husband and I until today. When I went in she was again busy. I sat and waited until she was able to help me. She was very nervous and hesitant to show me the footage. While reviewing the footage I witnessed something worse. A teacher sitting on a table. When several kids approached her, with her open palm pushed and child back by the head and did the same to another. You can see the children's head clearly jolt back. I had the director rewind twice just to make sure what I thought I saw, I saw. Obviously I was very upset by that. I asked the director for a corporate number which she did not give me. She got defensive and nervous and wouldn't give me answers. She explained it probably appeared worse than it was. I left the center and called the other facilities. No one called me back all day. This evening the owner called me and was VERY defensive and rude. We ended the conversation by her asking that I did not bring my daughter back because she could not assure me that the teacher I witnessed push the kids would not be interacting with my daughter. She also said for privacy reasons she could not let my husband she the footage that I saw. Unfortunately I don't know the kids that this happened to but I hope their parents see this and look into it. Again it happened 9/28 and the time stamp on the footage was 17:17:40. I was hopeful that the owner who rectify the situation but she only reassured me that the teacher will keep her job. I am reporting this to the necessary agencies and I hope something is done! The daycare is consistently over ratio and I have talked to the director about it on multiple occasions. She has assured me they are trying to fix things. I have also picked my daughter up twice and she was saturated in urine from having an accident.
