I wish I had more photos to showcase this place, but even then, it doesn't do it justice. I think this place is one of the best places to get burritos and tacos in the city - the portions are large, the prices are cheap, and it's that classic hole in the wall authentic experience. The burritos are well made and packed with fillings - I'm solidly full after one burrito. Tacos are also well made, with plenty of filling. The last time I was there, we got a fish taco as well - super crispy, tasted fresh, easily one of the best fish tacos I've tried. It had a nice slaw on top that balanced it out perfectly. I think the real winner at this restaurant is the salsa bar though - there's at least 4 different salsas, with varying levels of heat, and they taste awesome. There's also some fresh stuff at the salsa bar too, like radish, limes, etc. In terms of seating, there's a couple of tables inside, so you could dine in if you wanted. Parking is somewhat limited, but I've personally never had trouble finding a spot.

When you walk in, it looks a little dubious, but you'll likely see lots of other people eating, which you know is always a good sign. Do not, however, visit the bathroom first. It may put you off your meal. Seriously. Take a minute to make sure there's TP. What I was hoping for, I absolutely got, delicious food. I had the birria quesadilla. It was covered in cheese and the consommé with it was full of flavor and not just water which I LOVE. My partner got the torta and lived it but wasn't impressed with the fries.

Excellent service from a small "hole in the wall". Gigantic burrito that almost made two meals. Also had some tacos which were very good also. Will go again next time I'm in the area

I love this place! I've only had the veggie breakfast burrito but you can't go wrong!!!! They serve breakfast ALL DAY!!!! It's a small, quaint restaurant but I can tell they are packed on weekends! This is now a regular place for us to stop and grab a bite to eat.

If you appreciate great tasting eats, then you must treat yourself to The California Taco Shop. Don't be distracted by its outer shell because what they might not be fancy they definitely make up for it in FLAVOR. I had the beef enchiladas and they were excellent! Most of the time you get a mini scoop of beef and a few dabbles of shredded cheese. Nope, here they fill them up and even add sour cream at no additional fee. Seasoned with the herbs and spices rich in goodness. See the pic below.My coworker swears by their hard shell tacos so I'll be trying those next time. California taco will always hold a special place in my memories and heart. They're open early so great place for breakfast and breakfast dates! I went here on my first date with my fiancé! And since we are both busy people we made it a breakfast date to remember! The tortillas here are amazing. My fiancé's go to burrito is the San Diego burrito with guac! He can't get enough of this place. If you can't eat a lot this is the perfect place to share a meal because their burritos are big enough for two! Great value and quality.

Ordered Supreme Taco, the ground beef is very salty. Taco shells tastes stale, and very chewy. Lots of tomato liquid inside the box, very poorly made. I will never order it again.
