"There's a reason why Kansas City is called Cowtown. We have some of the best steaks in the cosmos. If there's flesh of a dead cow on a menu, I'm apt to order it before anything else. (Yes, even skrimps.)Case in point, Scratch Gourmet Kitchen's Steak au Pavé, which caused me--briefly--to step outside my body in foodie ecstasy this weekend. In fact, I think it might be the best preparation in town--complete with its garlic cream demi-glace and perfectly executed, thinly sliced potato pavé. How good was it? I'm writing an entire Yelp post about this dish, for God's sake. And you're reading it. If you haven't been to this tiny-but-mighty, upscale eatery in a while, it's time. I'll join you."
"I came here as a large party and with a reservation. The restaurant was a low lit setting. Overall the atmosphere was great and cute.We started off with drinks and they were delicious. We had a mix of cocktails and mocktails and both were just as good. The food was good but I'd say it wasn't exceptional in any way. Our server told us they were shareable sizes but they were not. We were a bit disappointed when we got our food. However I give it 4 because the service and drinks were great."

"Decided to stop by for brunch on Saturday. Very large interior, tons of natural lighting, and modern, upscale decor. We ordered the donuts upon recommendation from our waitress, and they were some of the best we've had. Warm, house made Italian donuts with orange mascarpone cream, powdered sugar, and pistachios. For our main dishes we ordered a Caesar salad, steak + eggs, and pappardelle pasta. Caesar salad - maybe I don't go to enough fancy restaurants, but I've only seen Caesar salad come out like this a handful of times. Layers of romaine lettuce wrapped together to form one large wedge drizzled in dressing, cheese, and one large parmesan tuile crouton. Bit of work to cut up the salad and mix everything together, but delicious, nonetheless! Would order again. Steak + eggs - sirloin cooked medium rare with two sunny side up eggs, few slices of bacon, potato wedges, and two pieces of toast. Pretty standard steak and eggs, no complaints. Pappardelle pasta - generous amount of rich, meaty, cheesy pasta. Noodles were cooked perfectly. I liked how their brunch menu included a few of their lunch menu items so that we were able to try items from both menus. Hope to come back for dinner!"
"Food is consistently good. Nice cozy atmosphere. Servers are attentive. Bathrooms are also very clean and the windows!"
"We came here for a special occasion date night, and it was just what I had hoped for. I absolutely love the quaint and warm ambience with the stone walls and paper lanterns inside. I look forward to coming back when it's warmer to sit on the cute outdoor patio. The menu brings something fresh that I haven't found elsewhere in Lawrence. Lots of shareables and appetizers that would be great for large groups to have with some creative cocktails, which they also have plenty of on their menu. I enjoyed the "sage advice," which was short and strong. The house hummus was the best I've ever had, and I was pleasantly surprised by how many pickled toppings it was served with. When we received our entrees I was a little worried that they would not be filling enough, but I was pleasantly surprised when I could almost not finish the shrimp mujadarra! I'm choosing not to detract a star for service, but it could have been better. Our server (tall guy with tattoos) was not the most attentive or friendly. But everything else was so good that I am still excited to come back. Btw: I highly recommend making a reservation, and I also recommend ordering several dishes to share or at least one appetizer before your entree."
"We had breakfast while staying here it was very good and the view was nice as well. Nothing fancy but tasted great."
"We celebrated the Lunar New Year at Fortune Wok in OP by ordering one of everything (almost )It was ALL was delicious, but the GF Lemon Chicken was soooo also really enjoyed the hot and sour soup - it was different than most places but in a GOOD way Excellent service as well. It was definitely worth the drive from NKC."
"I had planned to have a girl's night here to get some drinks with an appetizer. We had the Ahi Tuna + Chips which was not much to share. It was more like a small bite for one. The drinks were good and our waitress was very friendly and recommended us our drinks based on what flavors we typically like. We were told that the menu often changes and that most of the items were tasty and couldn't go wrong with any. The ahi tuna had good flavor but it was not much of an appetizer. I wish our waitress told us that this was not an item to share since it really wasn't that much food. Luckily we snacked on the chips and enjoyed our drinks. Given the prices of the food and drinks, I was not willing to spend more money on either so we went to another place to have more appetizers and drinks later that night. I would recommend it for special occasions or if money doesn't matter to you."
"What a great atmosphere. The wine selection is great, snacks and small plates looks divine. We just stopped in for a glass on our journey. Definitely want to come back"
"Did a fun Adult Easter Egg Hunt here last Saturday. It was fun. Did a wine tasting after and it was good. The place has a lot of outside seating and I love the wine slushies!"
"Looks like a pretty poppin spot in Columbia, Missouri college town Mizzou! Go tigers.I ordered the bacon, blue burger, cooked, medium rare, although it was well done, and the bread was beyond stale, I was starving so, the burger was still OK. Nothing to really write home about though. My man got the quesadilla. The weight on this thing was impressive and he smashed it, so I am assuming that was pretty good on his part. I asked if they had sweet potato fries and they said yes, but I'm pretty sure all they heard was sweet potato, because what I got was sweet potato chips with this special dipping sauce, which wasn't too bad luckily."
"Very good food with great customer service. But everything is made to order so be patient. Our party of 9 took an hour to get and out, but it was worth it. Sit back, relax and have a drink while you wait. It's worth the drive to spend a day in Lindsborg."

My wife and I celebrated our ninth anniversary with a fun, fancy dinner at Town Company and a stay at the adjoining Hotel Kansas City. Having heard of this spot since the early pandemic days, it's safe to say it's been high on our list for a while. For starters, they've dispelled the old trope that a hotel restaurant is never going to be all that good. This is quality, renowned chefs, and absolutely destination worthy no matter where it's located. If anything, the placement in the beautiful old Kansas City Club adds to the appeal. The atmosphere was ideal. It's much warmer and more inviting than some pictures led me to believe, and well decorated. It doesn't try to hard, and it's intimate without needing a flashlight to read the menu.I went in blind here, and barely even skimmed the menu. We went because of word of mouth, Yelp reviews, and sort of like a movie you know will be good, you just buckle up and go take it all in.For food, we tried an array of things and shared it all:-Hot Buns with carrot dip; well made and tasty, didn't really wow me but were good.-Cauliflower with harissa, pine nuts, prairie breeze cheddar; the most unique of all the dishes we tried, I enjoyed it. I don't know if I'd seek it out again but it was very flavorful.-Brussels sprouts; not finding this listed on their online menu so going off of memory, but they had some kind of aioli, apple, and crushed nuts on top. Maybe one of the best things we had, these were PHENOMENAL.-Potato dumplings wish mushrooms; they just transitioned to their fall menu and this had all the fall feels. This was the best thing we ate, the highlight of them all. It was like eating the feeling of warm coziness on the first real cold snap in November. I could eat this weekly in the fall/winter if my wallet would allow it.-Duck, grilled peaches, blistered shishito peppers; this was good and we ate it all, but not necessarily memorable. It's not that something was off, just that it felt like it was close to being really good but not quite there. -Lemon Cheesecake; blueberry, coconut, and macadamia. A bit of a surprise with the fall menu as this feels like a trip to the islands, but damn was it good. Very very small, but very very good.I was also blown away by how good my cocktail was. It's no longer listed and had equally tropical ingredients, but was not overly sweet at all and hit just perfectly. I don't drink much but this was up there as one of the best I've had in KC.Service was good, overall. Our server was very much someone who wanted to let us have our evening, which I appreciate. Nothing felt above and beyond, but nothing felt missed. So to sum it up, a very good meal with a few standouts. It wasn't all as mind-blowing as some dinners I've had, and felt a bit caught between the transition of the seasons (same, Town Co, same, it's been a warm fall). I would certainly go back, but with date nights being a rarity these days, we'll cycle through to some other KC highlights before returning.

Tucked away in Overland Park, Plate delivers an exceptional take on Italian cuisine that even the most discerning palate would appreciate. As someone particularly selective when it comes to Italian food, I was thoroughly impressed by the culinary experience this restaurant offers.Upon entering a bit later than expected, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who were nothing short of accommodating. Their attentiveness and professionalism immediately set a positive tone for the evening. The highlight, however, was the fresh, house-made pasta--a true testament to the authenticity and care put into every dish. With an open kitchen concept, diners can watch as the skilled chefs expertly craft each meal, adding an extra layer of engagement to the dining experience. From the quality of the food to the impeccable service, Plate provides a uniquely immersive and unforgettable dining adventure. It's the kind of place you not only want to return to but feel compelled to recommend to others. I'll certainly be back to savor more of what this gem has to offer.

Location: East Lawrence. A few blocks aways from Massachusetts street( Downtown).Ambiance: beautiful, cozy place with a large outdoor space. Food: It is just delicious. Everything you order is outstanding. Falafel is ways fresh, carne asada, cooked to the perfection. Pita bread is fresh.Service: in general, it is excellent. The only issue is that this place can get crowded. Even if you make a reservation, you can wait 20-30 minutes, past your reservation time.Yelp factor: In a nutshell, this is the best food you can get in Lawrence. Period.

You're going to get a nice little view from the rooftop up here, and that creates an overall ambiance that's worth checking out, even if you're not staying in the attached hotel. I think their drinks are good, the food is really good, and the vibe is on point for a modern, unique spot in town. The parking garage here is more of a headache than it should be.. It's just the nature of the beast for this part of the Plaza, but it's tight, dark, and not well-designed at all. But, if you make it through the parking garage, Parker at The Fontaine will validate your parking, so you got that going for you. I've had more than a handful of experiences here and too many different things to remember and list out, so I'd lean on some others for food recs and the like. However, I can point you here and say it's a fun, unique spot just off The Plaza, and rewrites the idea that hotel restaurants are often forgettable.

I think this place is very innovative and an awesome addition for creative foods in KC! Creative fusion of upscale Indian with mixtures of various ingredients of American and other Asian cuisines. Its menu is organized from smaller plates to larger main dishes. We tried several, and I would say overall they were all pretty tasty and better shared! I think my least favorite was probably the short rib dish. I thought it fell short in taste compared to everything else. My favorite was the egg curry + toast. Flavor BOMB. Plus the chili crema was . We also go the scallops, ahi tuna + chips, lamb hummus, smash burger, cocktails and chai apple tart. Plus pick up some matches when you leave hehe.

"My husband and I stopped in Wednesday evening for Happy Hour and found out it was also Wine Wednesday = 1/2 off of bottles under 75. Happy Hour is Monday-Friday 3-5:30 pm, $3.00 off appetizers, $7.00 select drinks, $6.00 select wines and more.... Ellie and Sydney were our bartenders/servers. Ellie was very knowledgeable about everything from wine to beer to perfect pairings. She was patient and answered all of our questions, we had a lot because it was our first time in. Sydney was new and did a fantastic job mixing up our drinks and we tried many. We ordered Burata, Brussel Sprouts and Lemon +Dill + Goat Cheese Arancini. It was all fantastic, our favorite was the Arancini. It was quiet that evening but I know that it gets crowded at times. They were having some live music that evening which they have on occasion. It is a nice classy place with extensive wine list and liquor list on a tablet. No dress code but some people were more casual than others. Plenty of seating inside and outside Patio seating. I highly recommend!!"
"We really enjoy coming to this special spot. The service is quite nice and the food is always exceptional. You gotta try the wine flights--very good! We enjoyed a meal on their patio which has great shade from trees and umbrellas. The patio furniture is comfortable. The owner is lovely. After enjoying our meal I had to leave unexpectedly and the owner was so nice and accommodating. She is good people. Would recommend this spot. No complaints."
"A very cute, upscale bar. The flavor of food is worth the price and the drinks are delicious! Worth a try and would recommend but probably won't go back unless I reason. The deviled eggs and French onion dip was so tasty! We tried the mushrooms and they were ok. They are large, fungi-like, and thick with a thinner breading. Sliced or pieces would be better."
"When it comes to a great stop on the water, it is hard to beat Big Dicks Halfway Inn. The food is delicious, the service is amazing, and the drinks are ice cold. Plus, unlike some waterfront restaurants, they don't mark up all the prices to take advantage of the fact. There is no question of why this place has been nailing it year after year!"
"Ragazza Food & Wine offers a delightful culinary experience that exceeds expectations. For starters, the Burrata was a perfect choice. The creamy burrata paired wonderfully with oil-roasted tomatoes, and basil pesto, got me excited for the main dish. I've also ordered Chicken Picatta with lightly breaded chicken breast and creamy polenta in a buttery lemon-caper sauce. The chicken breast was incredibly tender, but the creamy polenta was the highlight of the night. It was my first time trying polenta, and its buttery, citrusy flavor bursting with each bite. The staff were exceptional. They provided outstanding recommendations when ordering, ensuring each dish exceeded expectations. They struck the perfect balance of attentiveness, checking in periodically without disrupting our dining experience. The vibe that Ragazza provided was great for a romantic date night. However, I've found the overall lighting inside was too dim. While it provided an intimate atmosphere during the sunset, it became challenging to take photos after dark, particularly in corner seats.Overall, the quality of the food and service they provided was exceptional and will surely revisit!"
"Probably the best food we've had in Puerto Rico...absolutely amazing. The Lobster Mac 'n Cheese was incredible! But everything was very very good, from drinks to entree! Great atmosphere too! And Ariana was an excellent server! Next time want to save room for dessert."
"Warmth and knowledge of staff is unique and addictive! Everyone at Vintage 78 is incredibly knowledgeable and their friendliness keeps me coming back. I meet like-minded people there and thoroughly enjoy the experience."
"We made a trip out on a Sunday. We were greeted by a sweet four legged named Brewer. The bartender was warm and welcoming. We had the IPA, pale ale, Belgian Whit & the cream ale. No complaints. We loved the outdoor space. It's shaded, plenty of seating and even music streaming. We live 40 mins away, so unfortunately we won't be back as much as we'd like. But they nailed the lake vibe. It's a real gem."
"My favorite bar in Lawrence! The interior is warm, hip, and cozy and the drinks are bomb. Try the gay ice water! Also love their pina colada."
"When you walk into the Wine Down you immediately feel at home. This place exudes warmth and a deep community vibe. Their extensive martini menu will amaze you - don't miss out on the chocolate one! They also have other terrific mixed drinks and wine varieties at reasonable prices. Once you grab a delicious drink take time to check out the eclectic artwork (even on the ceiling!) and cozy back room. You will undoubtedly make a new friend (or two) before leaving this lovely place."
"Tried for the first time and overall good food, would come back to try other dishes butFood: We had the Cinnamon Roll Churros, Chorizo & Eggs, and The Giant. Food was good but The Giant should be called The Medium. Nothing giant about it, about every dish I saw coming out had more food on it than what you get in that! Drink: Wife got a Bloody Mary she enjoyed and all the cocktails we saw coming out looked good. Similar to other reviews, the coffee and coffee drinks are a big miss here especially since this is a breakfast place. Instant coffee and specialty drinks made from a machine like you would see at a hotel. Atmosphere: Lively atmosphere with fairly loud music. Nothing wrong with it, unless you are looking for a more quiet and chill place."
"Comfortable local joint with thoughtful unique drinks. Went during the daytime where it was a bit slower, comfortable atmosphere, quick friendly service, great Halloween decorations. The drink's seem to rotate seasonally, are fun, feel thoughtful and are below the market. We got the butter beer which wasn't overly sweet, light, fizzy and actually quite wonderful. The cocktails wasn't a cop out and felt like it was worth the money. The espresso martini was made with a fresh pull espresso that is the star of the drink. Not alcoholic at all which is scary. Overall 2 thumbs up."
"Small and quaint restaurant (seating 15-20 people). I recommend making reservations to be sure you have a table. Service is great but a bit slow since there is only 1 server working but we didn't mind. The chef/owner came out to greet us to make sure we were satisfied with everything (love that). My favorite dish was the apps, the bruschetta. It was quite delicious, best I've ever had in Kansas City. Their salad is also delicious, nothing like I've ever had and I think it's because of the dressing they use. Overall food and service were great! My husband and I had a great date night."
"Dinner for four on a busy Thursday. Service was attentive & we were able to move from a table to quieter booth. We had salmon, excellent, and steaks. The filet was grand the med rare ribeye a bit gristly and chewy. We shared with the server one at our table had an onion/garlic allergy so have chef select her side dish. She was served steamed broccoli with a garlic butter. ouch. The bottles above the bar were arranged in a colorful palette, nice touch."
"Was in search of a good German restaurant with Black Forest Cake and Affare was recommended, so we gave it a tryRestaurant was nicely laid out. Small and cozy. Parking on the street. Staff was friendly and helpful. We started with the pretzel basket. Nice warm pretzels. Good way to start the day.We then had the veal schnitzel. They offer it 2 ways; Jager style which is with a mushroom sauce and butter spätzle or Wiener style which is with lemon, french fries and cucumber salad. We got a hybrid. We got it Wiener style with spätzle instead of french fries. The food was wonderful. The schnitzel was a good thick piece and was very tasty. The spätzle was the best we have ever had. For the main course this was clearly 5 stars. For dessert we got the Black Forest Cake. Forgot to get a picture. Presentation was nice. We have had Black Forest Cake in the Black Forest in Germany. That is what we were looking for. Unfortunately, this was not it. We could not find any cherries in the cream layers between the chocolate cake layers. This was just a chocolate cake with creame filling. It was just okay. This was only 3 stars worthyWhen I put the 2 together, I came up with a combine score of 4 stars. If you want schnitzel and spatzels this is definitely the place to go."
"We tried this place out because they allow in outside food. They had several long high top tables, a few low tops and couch seating options, and windows facing the street. The staff was nice and pretty reserved with not much small talk. The 10oz beer pours are a bit deceiving because the glass is only 1/2 full with 1/2 head. My picture shows the pour before drinking it. The beer and seltzer selection is really varied. I would suggest this place to meet with larger groups of friends because of the space and large drink variety. The vibe is pretty chill, mostly couples keeping to themselves."
"Great place to have a special meal. I recommend reservations The decor is amazing. There is a nice wine and cocktail menuThey serve bread before dinner. We all enjoyed the meals. The pasta is unlimited and delicious We ended with tiramisu and coffeeService could have been better. No one recommended wine or explained the menu."
"This restaurant and bar, located at Creekmoor Golf Course and open to the public, checked off all the right boxes during my dine-in lunch, making for an easy five star rating. I liked the classy atmosphere, the great golf course view, the stellar service, the efficient kitchen, the delicious food, and the great lunch special prices. My grilled chicken sandwich with side and drink ($7.99) was served 11 minutes after I ordered at the table. The chicken was 1" thick, moist, and perfectly cooked, on a fresh bun with fresh veggies, while the sweet potato waffle fries ($1 upcharge) were nice and tasty. The service from Melissa was attentive, cheerful, friendly, helpful, and anticipatory. Sweet! I also liked the interior, which was divided into three spaces offering background music and free wi-fi - the bar area, the main dining area, and the patio area, which offers roll-up garage doors and a great view of the golf course. They offer a weekend brunch and a kids menu, while the bar had specials on "thirsty Thursdays" and during the Friday and Saturday reverse happy hours. Excellent!"
"Caitlyn is hands-down the best bartender I've ever had the pleasure of meeting! Her drink-making skills are absolutely top-notch--every cocktail she crafts is like a masterpiece in a glass. Caitlyn delivers every time with precision and flair.Beyond her impeccable skill, Caitlyn's warm personality and genuine care for her customers set her apart. She has an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome, remembering favorite drinks and even offering suggestions that match your mood or taste. Her energy behind the bar is infectious, and her attention to detail is unmatched. If you're looking for someone who takes bartending to an art form, Caitlyn is it. Her drinks are a treat, and the experience she creates makes every visit unforgettable. Cheers to Katlyn--she's the reason I'll keep coming back! Thank you Caitlyn! Leandra & Buddy"
"Amazing!!!! Finally a true wine bar that serves wines that are from around the world and not Missouri only. Sat at the bar and enjoyed speaking with the owners about how they pick the wines they serve. Did a flight and then ordered a glass with a perfect pairing of foods suggested with the wines. Will be back for sure! Loved the space and didn't even make it upstairs for more casual seating"
"Overall great experience with a larger group (~10 people). Reserved the fire pit area a month or so ago, had to move inside day-of due to rain. Hostess called me around 11 am day-of to inform me of new indoor location, table was set upon arrival, servers were quick to start apps and drinks. The bruschetta was my favorite of the apps we ordered - so many fresh tomatoes and the overall flavors were great!"
"This is the best "elevated" Mexican food I have had. It is a cute little restaurant with a very intimate feel. I had the cornbread to start, the pollo asado and the suadero. The cornbread was dry and the hot honey butter it was served with was nothing special, would not order again. The pollo asado is a smoked half chicken and it was incredible. It was so juicy inside and had perfectly crunchy skin. The suadero was a generous portion of chopped brisket and is exactly what it tasted like. I wish that the suadero was served with a spicy sauce instead of a tomato, sweet sauce that made it taste more like bbq. The pickled onions that were served with it were incredible. I think the menu needs a staple side or two that we could have ordered, there are none right now. The caramelo tortillas are good, as always. The drinks were perfection."
"If you know me, then you know, I'll have pictures... But unfortunately, it was just a pick up so I don't have any pictures. However, this is one of my top spots to place my order on DoorDash, and I keep ordering for a reason. El Maguey is so good and it's perfect for that laid-back but comfortable feel.. sort of like the perfect spot for a midweek, catch-up or date. I usually always get nachos that contains ground beef and chicken and it's just.. mwah! Chefs kiss! If you haven't gone yet, you won't be disappointed!"
