"OK so I originally joined the free 21 day challenge and I have to admit that I was like "ugh there's a lot of high-fiving and cheery greetings here" which is not totally my thing BUT after joining and now working out there for a few months, I catch myself handing out high-fives and nodding at the other regulars. I joined for the classes and those have been AMAZING - great instructors, good participation level, lots of choices. The facility itself is brand spanking new so it's super nice and doesn't smell like a gym yet. Prices are reasonable and I didn't have to sign any contracts that had the words "my immortal soul" tucked away in them. If you're looking for a new gym, definitely give this place a try!"
"I've never worked out at a friendlier, more sincere place than BioFit. Everyone from the owners to the interns are there to help whenever you need it. All ages and fitness levels seem to enjoy being here and achieving whatever goals they have set. It is a place worth checking out if you need a gym, personal trainer, help with your nutrition or muscle activation therapy."
"This is a fantastic gym conveniently located in downtown KC. I got in on a really cool special for the first 100 members and 2 of my friends joined the next day. That special is over but I see them posting specials all the time on Facebook, so check there or ask at the front desk which is manned until 7 pm every weekday and I think until 1 on Saturday. It's not the biggest gym in town but it doesn't have to be...it's Great. It's really clean (and they enforce masks in and out and when not exercising) with brand new equipment, a locker room with showers , a room for classes and stretching, full range of cardio, weights and machines and certainly the very best deals I've seen in the metro , especially for a 24 hour gym. They even have 2 other locations you can use . Come check it out...you'll probably see me!"
"Relaxed gym atmosphere with great ownership. The turf space in back is a rare sight in the city"
"I have been training at CFL's temporary location on and off for about 18 months now. Having just announced acquisition of permanent facilities here in Lawrence, CFL promises to become the premier spot for fitness and performance training in town.Thomas, Kyle, and Andrew are fantastic coaches, incorporating contagious enthusiasm and energy with the Crossfit methodology and up-to-date certification and education.Membership at CFL is mostly young 20-somethings, but there is also a strong core of more mature athletes and athletes-in-training. Regardless, everyone I've met there has been friendly, supportive, and excited. If you are inexperienced with Crossfit, expect a friendly welcome, and be ready to jump into the most efficient training program I have encountered. For visiting Crossfitters, come grab a WoD and make some new friends!"
"I have been training with Next Level for a year and a half and followed them with their recent move to the 23rd and Louisiana location. Chad, owner, really knows his stuff and is a wealth of knowledge in everything involved in both personal training and health overall such as diet and nutrition. I personally work with Haydn who is excellent. His knowledge and ability to tailor workouts and goals to each individual are what has changed my physique drastically over the time I've worked with him. It's not just a random workout each day or something just to make me sweat so I feel like I accomplished something. Here there's an overarching philosophy of weeks and months working towards your goals of being an overall healthier and stronger individual. As far as the gym goes it's clean and set up for personalized workouts. Definitely check this place out."
"I've been attending The Firm for 6 months now! These guys are a fantastic team. The gym is clean and the people are always friendly. I've lost 6inches and about 10lbs. I never dread going to workout! They keep it fun, and always introduce new things to switch it up for us. Keep up the good work The Firm KC!"
"I have been working out with BodySmith for over 3 years and love the results! I had done strength training on my own since 1995. I was plagued with constant sore traps due to bad form and wasn't make many strength or muscle gains. Scott and his staff are sticklers about proper form and technique and push me outside of my comfort zone. I'm over 50 and am in the best shape of my life and stronger than ever."
"Gym is very nice, big, a lot of space on the 3 floors and the best thing is the staff, really nice people, I travel around the states and this gas been one of the best gyms I've been"
"The tennis program would get a 5 but the gym equipment needs some tlc. The equipment has tears and missing pieces. I like all the cardio equipment and are in good working order."
"Can't say enough great things about this gem of a place. Where can you go for $25 a month that includes a gym, fitness classes, free wifi and drum roll.... free child care included!?! Yes, you can come and unwind or have some much needed self care time... all while knowing your kiddos are being well taken care of. There is a huge weight room, two cardio rooms, large open gym (which is rentable), and aerobic/class room. My kids actually beg to come since they know they will have a blast. Meanwhile, I hit up yoga classes or even catch up on emails/work/phone calls... it's amazing!"
"My go-to studio for HIIT and weight-training. Trevor really knows what he's doing and is one of the best instructors I've had. He's motivating and knows how to work around and prevent injuries. All levels of fitness are welcome here."

BioFitKC is an awesome facility. Great staff, well maintained equipment, access to clean/stocked showers, and an in-house massage option. I've worked out with Justin and have been impressed with his knowledgeable enthusiasm and genuine interest in my physical health. I have also gotten a fantastic massages from Jamie and Molly. Highly recommend!

Brickyard has plenty of parking, extremely clean, good amount of equipment, and always has sports on the tv. Conor gave me a tour of the facility and was friendly. I purchased a day pass while I was in town for work and had a great workout.

I've been training at CrossFit Lawrence for 4 months now and the progression of my fitness level is nothing short of amazing. Were it not for the incredible coaching skills and encouragement from trainers Thomas, Kyle and Andrew, I would not have found my love for powerlifting and be preparing for my first competition. If you want hands-on attention and training without the cost of a personal trainer, this is the place for you. Their focus on education and injury prevention is top-notch, their approach truly comprehensive. They even have kids crossfit, crossfit masters (ages 50+), and crossfit moms (pre- and post-natal) classes! Thanks to CFL, I can now do things which I never thought I'd do - Olympic lifting, powerlifting, unassisted pull-ups, dozens and dozens of push-ups, handstands, gymnastics, running 7 minute miles, etc. My level of fitness has never been higher and there's plenty of room for growth and improvement. The facility at 22nd & Haskell is roomy and the walls are covered in striking street-style graffiti. It might not seem a place where you would find yourself, but once you're there it feels like home. There's a great sense of camaraderie and support among the CFL members. Everyone encourages each other to keep going, to work hard, and congratulates each other on a good workout. It's rare to find such a good group of folks who have nothing but truly and sincerely nice things to say about each other. If you want to take your fitness to the next level, enjoy your workouts and meet some great people, this is the place for you. I, for one, will be happy to make your acquaintance.

I have worked out at Next Level with either Chad or Laura Richards for 15 years. They have a level of expertise that most personal trainers do not have. Their education and training allows them create a gym where proper form is priority. They believe in starting from the bottom and helping their clients achieve their goals in a safe and healthy way.

This place was really loud, service was sub par and equipment was okay...I would recommend CityGym for anyone wanting a similar experience. Their training is better priced, the atmosphere is better, the service is amazing and it is in DT KC which is beautiful. I wish I could give it a better review.

Scott Smith and his team are who you need when looking for a true lifestyle change or simply wanting to take your fitness to the next level. What took me so long to book a consultation? I have no clue because in the 3 months I have been working one-on-one with Scott, not only is my body changing and getting stronger (duh), my belief system about health and fitness--even about myself--is changing in positive ways.Scott does a fantastic job of paying close attention to where you're starting your journey and has an authenticity about him as you move through his program. Yes, he is a true expert in his field. Sure, he is all about your gains in the gym and provides incredible variety to ensure your body and mind don't get too comfortable. Yep, definitely provides resources for handling nutrition but does so with patience and care. My journey has just started, and even though I am a fan of baby steps, Scott is there to see me through as long as I am committed. It is one of my best investments and one I plan to make as long as it takes. Seriously, check them out. Good people.

"This review update is LONG overdue. Sorry Scott Fitness people. Way back in the day after I posted my less than pleased update, I was actually contacted by the staff and thanked for the heads up and told they took my observations seriously. I like that a lot, as it's just good customer service.Obviously they DID take some of my concerns to heart, because I no longer see the trainer guys just loafing around, eating food while training and walking around barefoot. Well, pilates guy walks around barefoot, but he's pilates guy, so I think that sort of makes sense. The bathroom situation still sucks, but short of a MAJOR renovation they're not going to be able to change that. I can deal. My only real complaint that I have now is that I wish the lighting was just a touch brighter in the cardio area. I HAVE to have distractions while I'm doing cardio, to keep myself from remembering how much I hate it. Maybe I have bad eyes, but it's just difficult for me to read a magazine or even play with my phone due to the dim lighting. I've taken up a few of the classes. Spinning is awesome, but not as awesome as Yoga is for Every Body. The instructor Bernie is the nicest guy in the world and really makes the whole experience challenging w/o being intimidating. I'm absolutely hooked. Project Poolside makes me want to cry. What can I say? I'm a big big fan of this gym. Thanks to them I've lost about 20lbs in the last few months, and if i keep up at this rate maybe I'll put it back on in the form of becoming absolutely ripped ;)"
"Horribly unclean the owner doesn't care about how it's cleaned or any problems with the gym having allergies to the point I can't be there and he want 300$ to cancel"
"I stopped in here 3 times as a visitor for open gym when traveling to KC on business to knock out a WOD and try my best to stay on point while away (which is always a challenge). This place is much larger than my home box, easily double the size, but the setup is really sweet. The more room to roam the better in my way of thinking. For open gym you will likely be able to score your own squat rack and lifting platform with no problem.I really did not interact with anyone much since I only swung by for open gym, but both coaching staff and other members were very pleasant and inviting. You can tell the members here are a very tight knit tribe, but the same could be said for my home box as well. Those new to CF or veterans looking for a new place to train would do well to check this place out."
"I agree with the previous reviewers. The online training is a joke. You are sent a cookie-cutter plan that is extremely hard to stick to on your own. It is a much wiser idea to either do personal training one-on-one or even in a bootcamp or boxing class. The type of advice they give you at Hitch Fit is advice that is typically free if you just ask a trainer at your gym. They also do not offer refunds."
"Kri preaches "be better every day." Well, that's exactly what u will accomplish if you join! It is exactly like having personal trainer in a classroom setting. He provides you with his cell phone and he answers all texts and calls! I have been here six months and I cant imagine a week without hiit fitt!"
"Having moved from CA and not knowing anything about Overland Park, all I knew was I wanted to get back into shape. So I looked up the closest gym with the best schedule for me.I started at E3 August 2022 with the intent to just do personal strength training for the accountability. But out of pure curiosity about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), I signed up for an athletes challenge that included both strength training and once a week private BJJ lessons. The athletes challenge got me down over 15 pounds which I have kept off to this day. More importantly I gained more confidence and a sense of control over my body again. It surprised me how much I began enjoying the challenges of jiu jitsu and decided at the start of 2023 to commit to coming almost everyday to do both gi and Nogi classes. (Both those terms, amongst many others will start making sense when you start training). I started with the small group essentials BJJ foundation class, which helped build my confidence to do the regular classes. My concerns with starting a very physical sport in my 30s and coming from no previous martial arts experience quickly went away after adjusting over the course of a couple weeks.Everyone here at E3, from the techniques learned from my coaches to those I had the opportunity to roll with, all prepared me to compete in my first BJJ competition in May this year. The opportunity to train with top athletes from Brazil, to meet and grow with other members of the gym, and to really be part of a community that empowers individuals to feel more in tune with their body - I feel fortunate to have come across this gym. With the support of everyone at E3, you get a chance to see what you can be capable of. I truly cannot recommend it enough for anyone to try BJJ, especially with everyone here. I think the change you will see in yourself both physically and mentally will speak for itself.See you on the mats!"
"City Gym is perfect if you're looking for a place to work out that is: clean, inclusive, not too big or small, and has everything needed for strength and cardio training. Their gender neutral bathrooms and private showers are wonderful, and the equipment is always clean and in working order. The staff is super friendly and the patrons are all respectful of the space and each other. Parking is a breeze out back. The only thing missing (for some) from this gym might be a pool/sauna and a track."
"Amazing studio with a friendly staff and beautiful equipment and studio place! All teachers are certified and very helpful with perfecting each move to give you a killer workout!"
"I have been a member of so many gyms and this is by far my favorite that I have tried, especially for the price. The child care is amazing, my 2 year old never wants to leave the play room. I go mid morning when it isn't so busy and never have a problem getting my workouts done on all the machines I want to use. I have used the tanning beds and hydro massage beds, 10/10. I had a personal training session with Derek and got to see all my body stats/measurements and we did a workout. He answered any questions I had and very very educated in all things fitness and nutrition. He made the work out fun and intense and tried to curate it to what exactly I was looking for. They offer continued training services, but don't pressure you into spending the money if it isn't what you want. I haven't tried it yet, but they offer many group exercise classes. I can't wait to try the spin class! All the staff has been great, seems like good culture. All around 10/10 place. Only $30 per month!"
"Awesome gym! Wide selection of equipment, super clean, friendly staff. Great atmosphere for all levels from beginner to hardcore. I am visiting from out of town where I am a 24 hour fitness member. If this was back home in San Diego, I would immediately cancel my membership and join OGKC!"
"This place is a hidden gym in the Kansas City Area. If you are someone like intimidated to lift weights this is the place to start and learn. Jay, Scott, Sean and are amazing coaches. There is a build in program made for you depending on the type of workouts you are looking to adapt. Fit and strong is how I started. They are there to tweak your stance when needed. It is an Olympic lifting space and you get to use unique and quality equipment. The coaches are friendly and always willing to help."
"Was a guest at Genesis on a Saturday. It was busy. This fitness center has free weights, childcare, clean locker rooms, smoothie bar, group classes and more.Took a MixxedFit cardio class by Tiffany,Taylor and others. It was so much fun. Would def go back for the group classes. Great instructors. Friendly staff."
"My friend wanted me to go kickboxing with her and I thought it sounded fun not to mention I like my friend. =) We came on a Saturday before noon and I had to fill out a form with my name, address, and number. It was free for the first time to try out. We didn't get to go to the kickboxing class but rather the boxing class. I borrowed their boxing gloves (which I regretted later because they stunk up my hands, bleecch) for the class. The instructor was Bigg Ron and he was pretty cool. We started out with warm ups then we pretty much followed whatever he demonstrated for us to do. There was music playing so it was easy for me to "get in the groove" and start punching the punching bag. Lucky for me, I was somewhat in shape because I started to run around my apartment area since April on and off. A lot of the stuff for the boxing class was tiring and I can't imagine the kickboxing class. It was one hour long and I had to stop a bunch of times to drink some water or to take a short break before continuing. I noticed a few others were also pretty tired and did the same. After the class was over, I felt great and just a little sore. I even felt like my abs would start to be more defined and even get my 6-pack back which I wouldn't mind because a 6-pack again really helped with running in the past. Bigg Ron and one of the other guys that came to box were telling me, "We'll see you next time" like it wasn't even a question. lolI will have to definitely consider the membership. It's a great way to stay in shape and the times were posted on their website for kickboxing and boxing."
"My first impression of this gym is that it is so clean! It's also affordable, friendly, and has everything you need for a great workout. The staff are kind and welcoming. Great class offering. Clean showers. They offer fresh clean bath towels and sweat towels so you don't have lug your own back and forth. It's located in the Historic West Bottoms next to the Kemper Arena. I love the location. It's just a little over a mile from where I live downtown (merely a few minutes away from the River Market and the Power & Light District). The classes are included with the membership. Full disclosure, I liked the gym so much that I ended up getting a part-time job here."
"I want to take a moment to share something important to me. I have three kids that have all played competitive sports since they were old enough. Out of all the teams we have been on the amount of LOVE AND SUPPORT we have gotten from NJE (even after moving on to dance) is beyond amazing. I've never in my life had a team that truly makes you feel like it's more than just a team...it's FAMILY!! Yes it's still a business and they need to make money but it has never felt that way. How many coaches do you know who will take time to surprise EVERY athlete on their team whom made it is Disney by showing up at THEIR SCHOOL to give them a congratulations gift? That's right. They drove all around the KC area to surprise their girls for winning a bid to "The Summit" (the Super Bowl of cheer if you will). Now this is my youngest second year of not cheering. She had switched over to dance a year and a half ago. How many of you could say your ex coaches and teammates/parents would pay to come watch your child perform at their new dance studio? Well I can tell you out of all the coaches my kids have had NJE are the only one that has does this. This is what touches me deep in my heart and they will FOREVER be a part of my family! This is what these kids need to see. Love/caring/kindness and to me THIS is winning! (Yes they do actually win competitions also. Lol but this is more important to me than anything)They are the perfect balance of being tough on your child when needed and expect them to give 100% and when they do great they know how to show the athletes how proud they are of them. If we ever go back to cheer (which she is talking about it ) we would only go back there. Oh and speaking of they are the only gym I know that does not have the drama and when a girl leaves they almost always come back.In case you were wondering my daughter had cheered their for four years!"
"I love the gym! It's a wonderful place to work out, without the CrossFit junkies and annoying men hitting on you at the water cooler. But in all seriousness, very convenient, clean and the staff are very helpful. Definitely recommend."
"Ok, so when it comes to working out, I am pretty much worthless. I can find a million excuses for not going to the gym or exercising everyday, I seem to have a 'gift' for it:)! That aside, 2016 came around and I had convinced myself that I was going to brake my old ways of thinking about staying fit and exercising, and that is when I discovered "Bodyfit"! This is one amazing location to workout! From beginners to advance levels of fitness Bodyfit has a class with a knowledgable coach for you. They even offer kickboxing lessons if you are in to that sort of thing. However, for the most part they are focused on "HIIT" or high intensity interval training; much like cross-fit but taken down to a level where people are not destroying their backs and becoming hulk monsters:) Per my discussion of laziness above, I signed up for 1 month of classes at a very cheap rate of $50; but, I only attended at most 5 classes. Now I keep telling myself that I am going to return to Bodyfit and really give it a serious go this time, yet I am building up the courage to do that:) All being said, no matter what your fitness level is, the trainers here will work with you to get your butt in shape and trust me it HURTS, but I know that had I stayed with the program I would likely be a good 15-20 pounds lighter as I lay here writing this review. It is my #1 choice of gyms in KC & as you can see they are willing to work with you on the pricing. I hope this inspires some to go hit the "cardio-weight" training hard at Bodyfit, because I guarantee that if you were to stick with the program for 6 months that you would be cut!P.S. they are the only gym in the KC metro area that is run 100% on green energy; solar panels and all! It is really quite cool & unique!"
"I guess to say my heart is in neighborhood fitness center.s The one's where you don't see a steroided muscle man walk around. I've decided from past experiences, I wanted one where I could easily freeze my membership due to work travel. I wanted a gym in my area, that was less than 10 minutes away....well, I found it.I received in the mail, a flyer saying the membership fee of $29 was waived in January for Roc fitness. I chose today to go and check it out. It's a small gym, with a small equipped weight room. The weight room has set of circuit machines for upper and lower body. There's cardio machines upstairs. There's also a 14 lap walking track. They have shower rooms with lockers. Overall, it's a pretty nice place. Great price, too: $22 a month. There's a $5 locker fee if you decided to get a permanent locker, and they charge a one time fee for the usb key to program a workout. I like that idea, and am going to do that. The classes change per season. I am interested in the adagio class, and the zumba classes. The staff were very helpful, and they arrange for an orientation, after you join. There's a cafe with, from what I've heard, the best French fries in Raytown. I suppose the gym is supposed to counter act the calories in the French fries?.Edit: This place grows on you. The more I am there, the more I like it."
"Overall, I really like Woodside and most elements of it. It's got nice equipment, separate areas for tennis, spa services, and is essentially two gyms with multiple buildings. I've been going here many years and hope to continue. It's a little bit of a two part review in that I feel like the staff is doing a good job with Covid precautions in most ways. They wear masks, have dedicated cleaners, lots of wipes for equipment, hand sanitizer, drinking fountains shut down, added virus filtration, and spaced out cardio machines. The members are another story. I feel like I might literally be the only person who wears a mask when working out. Sure, the policy states to enter the building wearing one, but everyone takes it off immediately. I'm sorry, but it's not that hard when working out to wear it, it's just not. It defeats the purpose of a mask policy if no one wears it indoors, and being around someone with a compromised immune system, it's giving me pause on continuing to go here during the pandemic. Some suggestions?-Enforce mask wearing in the weight areas. I do understand enforcing it for cardio is a different animal, but the weight areas can deal with it. I do, and it's been fine. -Maybe consider workout appointments similar to the group classes for all Woodside visits? This could help ensure it's not super packed, which at times it is. (Side note, is an area is packed, I leave and just call it to be safe). If not appointments, maybe limiting capacity could be the play.-Enforce the distancing. It's frustrating to be mid set and have someone come up a foot away huffing and puffing on me. I ain't about to go viral in confronting someone but I've certainly been put off by it. Overall though, I like Woodside and their staff. The food is also good, and love the pool (and the fact that they keep it open if it's warm well past Labor Day)."
"Great local wellness center especially for the price and all the things they offer!I love the indoor pools, sauna, top of the line equipment and full array of fitness classes offered."
"I love this gym! It's inside Elite Sports and has everything including phenomenal trainers. I can't say I've ever loved a gym this much but waking up at the wee hours of the morning is easy knowing that I'm headed here. If I arrive without energy I will be pumped up by the time I leave. The fun music, great people and changes I see in my body make me really appreciate this place."
"The music group Genesis had a hit titled" Invisible Touch". Well this amazing Genesis health club on 12th Street and Main in downtown Kansas City has many visible and beautiful overt touches and positives that make it stand out as a health club and gym miles above the rest.1) Hats off to the amazing team here. Troy is the kindest and sharpest superstar Manager who welcomed me, an out of towner( not a local and potential member) with class and enthusiasm; please note that I was a guest from NY visiting KC for the MNF game. Mac, Chandler and Brenna were just stellar with kindness. Loved the efficiency at the front desk and their smiles as they picked up towels in the cart from all over the gym.2) Towel service( bath and workout sizes).3) This gym is huge. The workout floor has all areas - free weights, cardio, abs, machines and the class room very well spaced. 4) The equipment is modern. 5) The locker room is immaculate. The supplies( soap, shampoo, shaving cream, lotion and paper towels( are well stocked. 6) 2 hours validated parking on the 4th floor in the adjacent garage with a 55 feet convenient walk to the gym entrance. 7) Open weekdays at 5 am. Perfect! 8) Beautiful, relaxed vibe in the health club with no wait or rushing for the machines or weights. I left each time with a bigger smile."
"I hate sweating. I don't like working out. Not even a little. That being said, I love TheGYMkc. I've taken a few different classes so far, and this is what I know. Paul's BOAS class will beat your ass. And its a blast! The class is upbeat and he is very encouraging. Even with sweat stinging my eyes and my stomach churning, I enjoyed his banter through out the hour long session through hell. At the end of the class I feel beat and accomplished. It is "only yoga"! And its a helluva work out. Bernie issues the beat down. He's encouraging and hands on. Correcting poses, moving through out the class, providing encouragement and correction where needed. I really really hate cardio, but somehow yoga provides cardio and muscle training as well. Bernie hosts two sessions, Sundays and Thursdays. His 90 minute sessions are jam packed with sweat, heavy breathing, and a little pain. But they are also tremendously relaxing too. Who knew I could get this bendy? Touching my toes and things! My daughter gets excited when I come home and teach her a new pose after class. When I leave his classes I have muscles that ache that I never knew I even had and for whatever reason I can't wait to go back for more. If I could offer one suggestion, it would be in regards to the men's room. It could really use a stick-up, an incense, or febreeze - something. The gym has just about every machine you can imagine. And I've never waited to use one. Lots of clean towels and spray to keep the cooties away. The staff and instructors I've interacted with have been friendly and upbeat. Even signing up for my six month membership was a breeze. No bullshit and no pressure. Like I said upfront, I'm really not into working out. But I am into TheGYMkc."
