"Just recently had finally got to try the Casual Foodie. Gary had caught him several months back and all I ever heard about were the bulgogi tacos. He was just in awe of them. I wasn't sure if I believed the hype. On Saturday we saw the truck and his eyes got as big as saucers. He ordered three pork bulgogi tacos, I got two tacos, one pork bulgogi, one Caribbean jerk. We got queso and chips as well. After we found a place to sit, and Gary finally got to dig in, I asked, "Was it everything you remember and more?" He was grinning from ear to ear and nodded yes. For my experience with the Casual Foodie I have to say, the pork bulgogi lived up to the hype. The meat on those tacos is out of this world. And the sauce on it is a perfect compliment. They're topped with a fried egg so it is rich. The reason I'm doing four stars and not five is while the Caribbean jerk was good it wasn't on the level of the bulgogi. Queso was good. Friendly service. Saw they're in Lenexa this weekend and we'll probably make our way out there to get more tacos."
"I was in NKC at a meeting and when it ended I had about an hour where I needed to get some work done before heading off to another meeting further away. I asked the folks I was with if there was a good neighborhood coffee shop nearby where I could get some work done and I was pointed here. When I pulled up it looked really unassuming from the outside - it's sort of a repurposed old house, and it has strong neighborhood vibes. Needless to say I was excited to check this place out. You walk inside and you find yourself in one of the KC area's cutest coffee shops. Literally every bit of this place is charming. The only downside is that there aren't many indoor tables, but I was fortunate as it was late afternoon and I was able to snag a small corner spot to myself. The barista working was insanely kind, and overall, I just felt so lucky to have found such a gem to hang out at for a while. If I lived nearby I'd be here all the time. If you're ever in NKC and need a cup of coffee I highly recommend this local spot!"
"Hole in the wall bar/grill. Went on a Saturday with a large group. (14 or so) it seemed to be overwhelming for the staff. The food was excellent ! It took the server a long time to split up the bills and get everyone their checks. Smoking seems to be allowed and there isn't much room to escape it. I'd be back but but not with a large group."
"Ordered carne asada through their website. 3 tacos for 10.00 was ready in less than 20. Unplaced this order when i was passing it on the way to drop someone off at the airport and it was ready on the way back. Tacos had flavorful meat with onions and cilantro, one mojo sauce which was mild and one rojo which i'd say was medium spicy. It's located where Platte city fuels is."
"Love this place!!!!! Very authentic!!! The gringa is only $8.50! Big enough to split with someone if you are not super hungry!!! Had the gringa with chicken. Very delicious! Also had the Jamaica drink. It's a hibiscus drink that is sweet, but not too sweet. The space is simple, clean with a repurposed decor. Bathroom is newly renovated and clean! Service is great! Parking is tricky. If you go when the tattoo shop is closed, you can park in front. During the day, we park behind Cottin's Hardware or one can park on New Hampshire St. If you are looking for chips and salsa, this is not the restaurant to go to. They don't serve chips. Not on the menu. As per alcohol- saw someone drinking a margarita and it made me want one. lol They have beers available, too. Mexican coke is available as well as other Mexican sodas.Check it out! The prices are super reasonable and you feel like you have beamed over to Mexico!"
"We've been going to the original brick and mortar of Taco Naco since it first opened and we're excited to see a new location. We picked up takeout on a busy night, and unfortunately the food, which has potential, was just poorly prepared. We ordered birria tacos, a mushroom taco, a potato taco, and a brisket barbacoa taco - also, some nachos and a quesadilla for the kids. The quesadilla for one had what looked like a pound of cheese in it, so much that it was impossible to eat, as though you were served a plate of pure cheese. The tacos lacked salt and on each one the proportions were off - too much or too little meat, not enough flavor from other toppings. If everything had been properly prepared, it could have been good, but it was honestly just sloppy. Hope they get back to how things were done when they were a single location!"
"I had never tried Chicken Adobo before but this Chicken Adobo Taco is out of this world. I've already told everyone I know about these tacos. I would love to try the Nachos and the Nacho fries sometime too. Being located in Parlor is so convenient and fun. I live being able to order my food with ease and choosing a seat to my liking. I'm definitely going to be a regular here. I have people already wanting to try it with me the next time. The photos don't do it justice at all. You'll have to try for yourself."
"A good place to grab authentic tacos! This place never disappoints! There is so much flavor in these tacos and is always so filling! The staff is nice be helpful as well."
"Absolutely incredible. The person taking our order talked me into ordering tripa, which I never in a million years would want to try. But he really sold it well so I tried it and was blown away! It was so delicious, as was the quesabirria and queso dip. I cannot wait to go back again!"
"I eaten here numerous times and always great food and awesome service. It's street tacos and about 1:75 each . There beside firestone and FSO and Spanish authentic"
"The food is good! The service is fast! The price is unbeatable! The ambiance is fast but not rushed!"
"AN ABSOLUTE GEM! Taco cacao has been on my list for a while but it was difficult to get to since they close at 8. But I finally was able to order the chicken, carne asada, and pork tacos! The chicken and carne asada were my favorite. Every time I took a bite it was an explosion of flavor in my mouth. The tacos were double layered tortillas and stuffed with a good amount of meat/toppings. Each tacos was about $2.50 - $3 but worth it. 3 tacos satisfied my craving - I bet if they had chips and queso it would be a game changer. I'll definitely be coming back to try the other tacos!"

I stumbled upon this food truck during an event they were catering at UMKC. This accidental taco consumption lead to some amazing food. I ordered a classic taco with shredded meat, corn, pico, and sauce along with a veggie taco complete with sweet potato, black beans corn and cabbage. Both were great, but the veggie taco blew my mind! Sweet potato in a taco?! This taco had all the right ingredients and the sweet potatoes were roasted perfectly-the flavors were delicious! I can now blame Casual Foodie for my veggie taco obsession and I'm definitely going to be looking for this food truck at events in the future!

The Little Store on Knox is an ADORABLE little coffee shop and florist tucked back in a neighborhood in North Kansas City. After passing it a few times, I decided to pop in and give it a try. Although they recently opened, this shop. was packed to the gills! It's a little space, so if you're wanting to get a table, come early. The staff were friendly and quick, and made me one of the MOST DELICIOUS lavender oat milk lattes I've ever had. The coffee is very obviously high quality. The decor is both homey and on trend, making this a spot that will definitely stay in my weekend coffee shop rotation. I definitely will pick up some flowers the next time I'm in. Looking forward to seeing them grow!!

What a hidden gem! Christi the bar owner was a fellow Jayhawk and she changed the TV so we could watch the Hawks in Missouri. The burgers were excellent and she hand battered her onion rings. We fired up the jukebox and enjoyed a few drafts with the locals. I would highly recommend when passing through.

This was our second trip because we truly wanted to love this place and hoped it would be better the second time around. Sadly, it's just okay. Everything is made to order and super fresh, but could use some salt or other seasonings to make it "wow." The chicken quality is good and the ingredients are fresh, but the whole taco was bland even with the side of taco sauce. The queso is awesome but the chips needed salt.

The BEST quesabirria tacos I have ever had. This place is a hidden gem- I have come here twice now. The first time I could not believe how delicious the quesabirria tacos were, so I had to come again to make sure I didn't hallucinate that first experience. Luckily the tacos were just as delicious the second time! This is a family-run restaurant and it's great to be able to meet the amazing people making this amazing food and running this wonderful restaurant every time you come in. This is some of the best Mexican food in Kansas. The strawberry margarita I had was delicious as well. Will be hard to not just come here every time I'm in Lawrence from now on.

This is my second attempt at Taco Naco. I first tried their location on Metcalf and found it to be 'meh'. Now I tried their newer location on State Line near Somerset Rd....and ce la vie Taco Naco!...no mas...he terminado. I frequent this general State Line location because their is a (ahem) liquor store and (don't judge me) a Papa Murphy's. The parking lot had been extraordinarily busy and it was due to the presence of this new Taco Naco location. Well some time has passed and the parking lot is no longer impacted with bustling activity so I gave it a try on a weekday at 1pm. I was the only person in the restaurant. I was told to order at the self service screen with a nod only. I ordered al pastor taco and a carne asada tostada. My food was plated with raw radish and cucumber (not pickled at all) and the plate looked nice enough. My food...and I mean everything including proteins....was cold....and completely devoid of flavor(s). It was frankly a bit of a shock....I mean....it looked like tasty mexican food. It might as well have been porridge. Just bad.....really bad....zero effort....no love whatsoever. I choked it down. They have a laminated menu with SEVERAL (6-8) different salsa offerings....but I had no means to try any of them...and saw no salsas available to me. My plate had included a plastic ramekin with a green tomatillo salsa which would have been one of my top choices. The tomatillo sauce appeared congealed from apparent lengthy time in a fridge and lacked even basic flavor or freshness. Yuck. All around just yuck. Taco Naco seems to be an attempt at providing authentic (not tex-mex) style Mexican food to more suburban locations around the city. The food fails at authenticity...and cannot even compete imo with bad tex mex. Tex-mex isn't 'my thing' but at least it is likely to be warm and salty!KC has SOOOO many excellent truly authentic Mexican food options. Sure it would be nice if a few were closer to my house....but no thanks Taco Naco....I'll drive to KCMO or KCK when I have the craving.

Just ate the Tank Nachos with carnitas, and I'll definitely be ordering them again! So full of flavor and don't feel heavy at all! Yum!

Food is good, service is good, prices are expensive though IMO, although portions are decent and ambiance is nice taqueria setting.

"Deliciously addictive. The food is excellent- but the funniest thing is I went there because k8 and I are on an all vegan thing for the first five weeks of this year and this was one of the only vegan places I found in Kansas City. What made me laugh was they had two vegan tacos, a poblano chili, and a mushroom taco... however, out of embarrassment, those were off-menu. They were on an electric rotating video board showing specials, but apparently they were ashamed of including it in the regular menu. I sort of don't blame them. Especially in Kansas/Missouri, where you can be slathered in barbecue sauce & dragged by a truck or horse and buggy for being a vegan; however, I ordered those two tacos, and they were delicious... My first cousins once removed, and my cousin in law had the regular fare and said it was awesome. I recommend if you're a low-key in the closet vegan, or even if you just like good Mexican food. Check it out!The original yelp gangster,T.J. Miller.Barbecue (barbeque, Bar-B-Que):Nounfrom American Spanish barbacoa "a rack for hanging meat over a fire," of Caribbean Indian origin"
"Has a vibe but not my jam. Went here to get some food with my family. We each got a taco of one or more forms. The staff was not off putting but also just kind of there, not welcoming. We saw patrons fill in as we waited for our food so it is a visited place. When we got our food, it was just eh. Nothing high nothing low, it was tacos but lacked any flavor or character. The food appeared and tasted like they made it fresh. I think if they added more flare to their food (especially with a name like Fuego) that they would be doing themselves a favor. Can't say go there but can't say don't middle of the road."
"Appetizers: Octopus balls. I was hesitant about this one because..well..it's octopus. I'm glad I tried it though because it was good! It's definitely more breading than octopus and if you're not careful you might miss the octopus cause it's not a big piece. Definitely something to try if you're wanting to get out of your comfort zone. Wings: The wings had a sweet & savory taste to them that I really enjoyed. Entree: I had the spicy chicken ramen bowl. You get a choice on the level of spice and I chose mild. It was the perfect amount of spice for me. My only negative is that I wished there wasn't so much spinach. Other than that, great! Dessert: The two ice cream choices are chocolate and matcha. I had the chocolate ice cream and the outside was this "shell" that was made of what tasted like rice (?) and the inside was chocolate ice cream. It was different..but in a good way!I loved the painting on the wall and the staff were very friendly!"
"Popi's never disappoints. Whatever I order, is always made the way I ask for it. Food is always fresh. Great service as well"
"We dropped by La Nueva for lunch one afternoon. It is a taqueria, nothing more, nothing less. Pick your meat and take a seat. I had the asada, al pastor, and a birria. They were all very good. The birria consume was fantastic. They had a decent extras bar set up with cilantro, radishes, and salsas. It was a no frills lunch that did the trick."
"I can't say enough great things about Tipsy Taco. Every time we visit, we have great service and the food is good. We LOVE the Mexican Street Corn dip to start. I crave it and love going there just for it. Lots of great local music on the weekends, specials, and seasonal drinks. We come for the atmosphere and good service we receive. The bartenders are all super friendly and attentive. We usually sit at the bar because those ladies are great!"
"My husband and I moved out here in Feb of 2021 and we finally tried this taco truck located at the parking lot of the At Home Store. The service is stellar, and the tacos are absolute perfection and worth every cent they're asking for. Their schedules are different every day since it's a mobile food truck and it runs on home grown pure American Freedom - as food trucks tend to do - so I see it here in my home town on Saturday's and I'm definitely going to make it my go-to taco place on weekends. I ate the food so fast I didn't take a photo - I'll add more photos as soon as I do!"
"Such a gem in OP. Great prices, prompt service, delicious food. Tacos and burritos are always solid. Great lunch spot with plenty of tables."
"Stuey's after a work event. We def needed. Sat @ the bar while our hubs sat elsewhere. Our bartender was constantly checking in on us. There was another patron there (who seems to be a regular). He was def fun and gave us the energy we needed! Mixed crowd, good for people watching."
"Great ambiance as well as delicious Mexican Food!!! Adrian provided great service. Definitely will be returning"
"My husband and I stopped in while in KC for dinner. The place is in a nice area right by the river market. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and talked with us a bit. We got a variety of tacos to eat and all were very good. It definitely seems like you can't go wrong with any of their tacos. We will have to stop back in next time we're in KC."
"This was really pretty great, and I say that even with the caveat that we ordered it from a delivery service, which doesn't always provide the best version of a restaurant. The tacos here held together really well, and were perfectly sized, perfectly portioned, and, well, perfect. I tried the al pastor which is sort of my gold standard, as well as a baja shrimp taco that includes chorizo and a chipotle aioli. That one was good, but decadent; I'd compare my order to getting a sushi order where I got a few simple ones (comparable to maki) and one decadent one, like those rolls with fried bits and cream cheese. Their chips and guac were tasty and also well portioned. We have another spot that we order from and sometimes it's an almost literal thimble of guac, not the case here. We also ordered a side of verde salsa that was great. Nothing not to like here, and even though I haven't been in, I think this is a spot that's earned some time in the rotation."
"Mozzarella and jalapeño tamales are too good... make a nice lunch dinner or even a snack. The salsas are fresh and delicious. Simple food, good prices, friendly staff... I'll be coming back again and again"
"Drinks and view were amazing. I was in a group of 6 and 4 of us got flights the others got single margs. We also did a round of shots, apps and meals. Everything came out fast and accurately. My only complaint is that they don't have prices listed for any drinks."
"Do not judge a book by the outside of the corner store. I promise you this is worthy of the stop! This the best catfish plate I've had since my grandma used to make it . Definitely giving big mama house vibes over here. The neighbors are friendly and it feels like home! Yes the exterior cause use an update but who cares you can't eat the walls but the way they cooking in here I'll definitely lick the plate!"
"Great little Taco truck. Closest food to the Tesla charger. Fast & convenient, I've eaten here a couple times and it has been good each time. Reasonable prices."
"Awesome chips and guacamole and margs!! Ate tacos before the pic! Will totally come again!"
"We visited a cute restaurant with balcony seating, perfect for enjoying the cooler August weather. It's a seat-yourself setup, and we opted for the upstairs balcony. The service was quick--our waiter greeted us within two minutes of sitting down. The only downside was that our waters never got refilled, but the pitcher of margaritas we ordered made up for it!I tried the Pork Lucha Libre Wrap, which was delicious, though a bit on the liquidy side--something to keep in mind. The chips and queso were absolutely amazing! I'll definitely be back for more chips, queso, and margaritas!"
"So so yummy. We were coming through on a road trip and looking for something with healthy options that could also accommodate gluten free and dairy free folks. We loved our meals the Akauashi Burger, chips and queso as well as the Cali taco were wows. But the dessert was definitely where it was at. The Hunk of Love and Kiss my Bundt were devoured so fast. Cute space with nice patio. No fault of the restaurant but there is a cross walk for the blind constantly beeping next to the patio."
"Heard about this place and had to check it out. We were in for an amazing experience. First, let me say we went for the Tacos, on Taco Tuesday. The tacos were only $1.50. I think they are regularly $1.75. Now they were small, however they were packed with meat. I got one of each: chicken, steak and pork. They were great. The chicken and pork were excellent, the steak was just okay. Come on, where can you get a great taco, these days, for only $1.50. Even taco bell charges more. I was full after the 3 tacos.Very friendly people working there. Limited seating inside, however we found a table and some chairs, so no problem. In addition, it is also a bakery. I am going to say this is the style of Mexican bakery that I have seen before. You grab a big circular pan, like a pizza pan, and some tongs. They you go and pick out what you want, put on the pan, and then go to the register to pay. Everything looked good. However, we were too full to try anything, maybe next time.Give it a try, I don't think you will be disappointed. We are going back to try other things."
"Really great tacos. The al pastor and suadero (similar to brisket) are delicious. The salsas are also really good. I ask for the red and green. They have a few different ones. Tacos seem to be $2/each. I order to go and they come with the toppings separate which is nice. I've bought tacos from here three or four times now and they've been consistently good each time. I also tried a mulita which is basically a quesadilla but with corn tortillas and it was also very good."
"We love the chicken fried steak and the jalapeño gravy is really good. We were just here last night and were very busy, food was not as great as prior visits. Little over cooked and demand on the gravy showed signs of watered down. Go give it a try and the draft beer is cold . Service is always rewarding and friendly ."
"Even though it's Mexican fast food, it's the best Mexican food that is available in this town"
