"This is a great course. Feels like Prairie dunes on most but much more wide-open. I played on a Friday and the course was lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful."
"An absolutely wonderful park to walk. Great trails and a beautiful pond. But Christmas is extra spectacular here. Don't miss all the lights- one of the biggest displays you'll see anywhere! Plenty of parking to get out and enjoy up close, but many people also just drive through to enjoy them from afar."
"I can care less for the aquatic center although I'm sure it's pretty fun, however my props are for the amazing pristine grass soccerfields. All of them are very well designed with great drainage and well cut lawns. this park probably has the only all-grass soccer field in the metro without potholes. Your ankles will love you . . ."
"This place does it all - from outfitting you to teaching classes to lessons.Showed up right at opening time on Saturday and got the personal attention of the owner for an hour as we systematically worked through the outfitting of a diving/snorkeling novice. Really appreciated his care/thoughtfulness. Gear served me well in Grand Cayman. Am looking forward to geting more certifications here."
"Won't allow floaties here. They won't allow me to put my daughter on my shoulders. I'm in the middle of a gigantic pool--only 4'7" deep, walking around with her on my shoulders and they keep blowing the whistle. For what??? The won't allow me to dive in to the deep end. They whistled and said "That's not a designated diving place!" Well, it's 13 feet deep and nobody else is around, so what harm am I doing diving in here! Bunch of little kids on a power trip blowing whistles at me for no reason. Manager needs to tell his/her lifeguards to loosen up a little bit! How could you break my little girls heart and not allow her to bring in her doughnut floatie??? Stupid rule! What harm is that going to do? What's the point in going to an outdoor pool if you can't bring cool beach toys with you?? The pool is gigantic. How about section an area off then for kids with floaties, or something--(I'm suspecting this rule exists because you don't want the other kids to be jealous of the floaties). Also, all the lawn chairs are clustered together in the back every time I go there, and my little girl bloodied up her toe when trying to get through to the shade where I moved a couple other lawn chairs! Leave a path through the lawn chairs! I'm done with this place! $15 bucks as a local resident to be treated by little nags on a power trip! I'll pay $15 bucks to go to a small, private outdoor pool instead, over this!Update: The business owner sent me 4 paragraphs of an "explanation". And said nothing about, "Why, exactly, a flotation device is dangerous". She bumbled on about "US Coat Guard Approved stuff".... Well what does the US Coast Guard have to do with a dang floatie??? What a political response!!! No real explanation from the "Communications Specialist"!!"
"Good yoga classes, only 12 people with a capacity of 25...maybe just got lucky because it was Monday night. Appreciate the fact that they provide blankets and straps. Yoga flow is highly recommended for someone getting back in formal yoga again."
"I love how the "big kid" and "little kid" areas are separated by the lazy river where most adults wanted to be, including me! Many areas are provided for those that don't necessarily want to swim or be involved in pool activities, but still be in the water. I love the padded splash pad for the littles, then the multiple streams of water throughout the "little kid sections" with two different types of slides. Then in the "big kid" section there's the pool for those that are older and I'm certain adults can enjoy it as well! In the general pool area there are built in basketball goals and in the diving pool there's a rock climbing wall....my first time seeing a wall at a pool. We came here with our 2 year old and she was asleep by the time we made it home, so it's safe to say she had a great time! This aquatic center was recently renovated and it was definitely money well spent, very inclusive and fun for all ages! Can't wait to spend more summer days here cooling off."
"The beautiful TRAC is Overland Park's largest pool facility, and features a family slide, a curly slide, a 25 meter lap lane, three meter and one meter diving boards, a kiddie area with cooling fountains, a concession area, and a shaded seating area. It's a great stop on a warm summer day."

My new favorite park! What a beauty in the middle of all the hub-bub. I love the walkway, the playgrounds, the trees, the gazebo. The thing I love the most though, is the history. What a nice legacy to leave behind for the many generations ahead. We have found an easy place to run and have fun. Or maybe pretend to be a leopard and lounge in the climbing trees. We've spent hours here already and plan to spend many more.

I can't really imagine a better public pool. Oh! Unless it had cocktails. But alas, it's a public pool, so it doesn't have booze, but it's still good! The Leawood pool is a favorite summer haunt for our kiddo. There are multiple pools- a zero depth kid pool complete with a waterfall, a mini-water slide that looks like a whale, and a bunch of fun to climb on giant floating creatures, a huge fenced-in baby pool, complete with a triple water slide and a bunch of fun water features, a spacious regular pool, a diving area, a big water slide, and a spray-ground. There are multiple areas with comfy shaded lounge chairs, including a really sweet wood deck area. The locker rooms are always clean, and the concession area has a decent variety, as well as an adjacent shaded picnic spot. The pool is cash only, and at $8 isn't the cheapest option around, but it is worth the price. We've been during the week and on weekends, and it's never very crowded. Always a summer must!

When I moved to Kansas City in 2000 I discovered Midwest Aquatics. As an avid scuba diver, I needed a place to get into the water to check out my equipment before going to dive in the Caribbean. Their pool is wonderful. They have a full service equipment facility and have serviced my regulators many times. I've been pleased with equipment I've purchased from them. Although I did my dive training elsewhere, I've talked with people who've been certified through this shop and they speak highly of the training. When I go for my Nitrox Cert I will definitely consider them. From what I can tell their children's program is first rate.

Saturday classes go quick towards the fall/winter.The front desk staff seem nice. The facilities provide so many activities. I've only experienced the tots gymnastics and swim classes with my daughter's and they are pretty cool. The gymnastics instructors (for the tiny tots and preschool) classes are pretty cool. A few of them are cheerleaders (HS and College). They start off with all concurrent classes stretching at the same time and then break up into the respective age groups. You can register online but you can't drop anything without calling them directly. They return a prorated amount if you change or cancel after each session has started.

I gave them so many tries to get it right before the review. I reported to them lifeguards not paying attention every shift. Some looking at the floor. My daughter almost drowned and another mother got her while lifeguards didn't notice. I brought a friend and same thing happened with her son and the lifeguard was not paying attention. I sent an email with my concerns, and it was no taking responsibility and all blaming others. If you come make sure you're kids are excellent swimmers because the lifeguards are not trained well. The discussion was ended without any responses of how to make things right. They say the discussion can be continued but really they ended it without any resolution.

"Hands down this is one of the nicest gyms I've been to. Located in the former KMBC original tv station, this building preserves some of the historic architecture while adding contemporary touches. This downtown location also has a surface parking lot - you can park for FREE for up to 2 or 3 hours. Just take the ticket inside for a staffer to validate.Lots of group classes to choose from. Free weights, swimming pool, basketball court, machines, track and more. There's literally something for everyone. On my visit I took a cycle class with Mark. He is a great instructor. Listening to the top Pop hits distracted your brain from the leg burn. By the time class ended, I was soaking wet. The class was fun and hard.Amenities include: touchless faucets in the restrooms; water bottle filling stations and family changing rooms. The walking/running track above the other workout areas feels like you are suspended above them.If you don't have a membership, your first visit is free. I wish this location was closer, I'd go to this location all the time."
"the service at the concession stand is terrible! it took 25 mins to get a pretzel and lemonade"
"What this facility is not: a boutique fitness center open 24 hours a day with sparkling new equipment and amenities you've never heard of but are still pretty cool. What this facility is: a convenient, economical place to go exercise. They have a variety of classes and activities for people of all ages and levels of ability. They have an indoor pool, boxing ring, and basketball court. Sometimes the equipment is broken and it takes a while to be replaced or it just gets removed. Eh. I can always find things to keep me busy. What I really like about this place is you can pay per visit, or by the month. No sign up fees or contracts. If you sign up for monthly all pass, you can go to any of the KCMO Parks and Rec centers. I've been going on and off since 2002."
"Great local wellness center especially for the price and all the things they offer!I love the indoor pools, sauna, top of the line equipment and full array of fitness classes offered."
"We went with friends to the Round Hill pool for the 4th of July and it was LIT! I have never seen such a spectacle in my life. I felt like I was watching the pool scene from the movie "Caddyshack" but in real life. It was nuts!!The pool is great and I assume normally less busy than the madness that ensued on July 4th. All the neighborhood kids assembled before the pool opened and paraded around the block, finishing at the club. Everyone was decked out in red, white, and blue, and a great time was had by all. This is a swim and tennis club primarily aimed at folks in the neighborhood, but from the website it sounds like anyone can join, though there is currently a waitlist. I can see why!"
"This place is great! You can get a pass for the summer or pay a daily rate (only $5 after 4:30pm). Two adult pools: one lap pool and one hang out pool. Then a kid pool with a splash pad and another pool with a diving board and slide. It can get busy on the weekends looming for a seat but getting a chase lounge during the week is no problem. My only complaint is that the hours are 12-8pm. I wish it was open earlier"
"Moving to Prairie Village last November, I had NO idea how many public pools were only a few miles from our home. The Mission pool was another added to my list last week. Headed here with my little guy on Tuesday. The kiddie pool is open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings from 9:30 - 11:30am for just $2 per child. Adults are free! The kiddie area included two small pools, one of them had more of a zero-depth area with fountains. They only had one lifeguard watching both pools, but no children were allowed without parents and the maximum age was six and no more than three kids per adult so the kids were being monitored pretty closely. At least I know mine was.For only $2 it's a great way for kids to beat the heat. If only other pools would follow their lead!"
"Perfect for what it is. Clean and well maintained. Good amount of workout equipment. Big gym for basketball, pickle ball, volleyball, etc. Huge pool with 9 lanes. Good sized hot tub. Big locker rooms. Not much for kids at this location. No slides or anything in the pool. If you are an adult that wants to swim and not be interrupted by children, this is the place you want to go."
"The new Lenexa Rec Center is GORGEOUS. I've never been happier to walk into an establishment to exercise. Our family has truly bonded by spending time at the center playing basketball, pickle ball, and working out. Parking is easy in the garage, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the space is designed perfectly. Windows surround the "spongy" indoor track, and the views of the golf course and the city of Lenexa are spectacular. The equipment, the locker rooms, and the pool are like nothing else in Johnson County. Membership for residents is only $70 a month per family, but not much more for non-residents. Bonus... the treadmills have tv, and virtual reality walking/running trails throughout about 10 cities. I really hate working out, but the Lenexa Rec Center is seriously a place I look forward to seeing again and again."
"This place is awesome! First, there's a lot to do:-Totally little kid friendly area. They call this the zero depth area. Two kinds of slides, interactive fountains and fenced in.-Lap Swim area - even during peak hours, they maintained a few lanes for lap swimmers.-Normal "pool" areas varying from 3ft to 6ft.-A "lillypad" challenge. Put your ego aside because the kids will kick your butt, but it's super fun.-Diving boards (low and higher - I think apx 3 m)-Aqua wall (like a rock wall)-two slidesNote: What I love about the slides, they have double tubes so you can take your little one with you. This policy/allowance SAVED THE DAY-Lazy riverSo why is that important? Because you can keep rotating through the various activities and really enjoy a good, long time there. Finally - their staff is top notch. Super helpful, engaging, nearly always smiling. Shawnee is lucky to have this place! It's worth the drive!"
"Glad we stopped here on a hot summer day on our way back to StL. Indoor pool with diving boards, outdoor Olympic size pool (3.5' all across)neither two slides, and zero-entry children's pool. Full locker room access. Reasonable admission. Attentive lifeguards."
"The Fairway Pool is awesome! I checked it out this week for the first time. Since I'm a filthy Missourian I had to pay $6 cash to get in (I'm really not sure if they accept credit or debit cards), but I felt like the admission was worth it. There's not much in the way of bells and whistles at this pool - There's just the one small slide, and I think either two or three lap lanes. Even though the amenities are somewhat Spartan, the pool is extremely clean, the staff is pleasant, and the many many kids that were enjoying themselves there acted like civilized tiny people and not like horrible trolls. Shocking! This pool seems like a magnet for neighborhood teens; there's a stack of bikes right outside the entrance. If I had grown up in that area I definitely would've been here all summer. They have a very basic concession stand that sells PBJ's (how cute!) and a teeny wading pool for the tiny swimmers. There are lifeguards on staff (three or four on the afternoon I went), and the showers and bathrooms were very clean. I'll be back!"
